ANMELDEN"Is this what you called me for?" Tari questioned.
Arms folded round her chest, a frown on her face as she stared at Barasa's ass. He didn't even spare her a glance. He walked into his closet then came back wearing just shorts. Tari's eyes followed him as he walked past her, purposely bumping into her. She staggered and let out a scoff after regaining her balance. Barasa settled on the bed. Almost immediately, an automated floating table carrying a first aid box floated to Barasa, settling beside him. Tari raised an eyebrow at the table. Tari glanced up and let out a startled gasp, holding her chest. "Geez, you are so ugly that your eyes scared me," Tari lied. Barasa wasn't ugly; he was in fact a handsome jerk. She knew that. His piercing gaze frightened her. The way he stared deeply at her, like she was some transparent being and he could see right through her. Barasa gestured for her to come closer. She stared at his gesture and frowned. "Look, asshole, I am not your fucking slave, okay. Fine, I am grateful that you saved my drowning ass. My entire body is aching from doing all that dirty work." Tari bent over to face him. She snapped her fingers over his face. "I have a life outside of here, okay. Keeping me locked up like a jailbird will do you a lot of harm if my father finds out." Tari was saying when he cut in. "Find you? The paralyzed hog can't move a finger," Barasa said. Tari raised an eyebrow at him, staring back at him with the same intensity he stared at her with. The table broke the building tension when the first aid box popped open. A roll of newspaper came out, along with other first aid tools. Barasa picked the newspaper and threw it at her face. Tari caught it. With a frown she opened the newspaper; the first article she saw almost made her faint. Her eyes widened as she read every article. Every sentence on that page made her feel like she wanted the ground to open and swallow her. Then she flipped to the second page, then the next, and the one after, but before she could reach the fifth, Barasa snatched the newspaper from her. "No," she muttered, taking a step back. "The outside world has forgotten about you, Tari," Barasa said softly. He watched her expression closely. Tari stared up at him — this might be the first time he would be calling her name, but she had no emotions for that. Seeing Mitari, the same bitch who was the cause of everything, being praised as the savior of Tonla Industries while she was getting criticized for the losses the company faced while she was still running it. "Bullshit! Bullshit!" Tari exploded. "I am going to kill that bitch. She caused everything, she caused all of this! This was her plan all along. She wanted me dead so she could take over my life!! That two-faced jealous animal!!" Tari spat. Chest rising and falling, as she imagined Mitari's head on the floor with her foot pressing down on it. "I need to go back home," Tari demanded. "No," Barasa replied shortly. "Huh? What nonsense — what do you mean by no? I need to go home so I can teach that bitch a lesson!" Tari barked. Barasa didn't reply. He removed the bandage, while Tari was raging. Her gaze landed on the scissors sitting on the first aid box. Tari's gaze darted between Barasa and the scissors. All that ran through her brain at the moment was to grab those scissors and shove them right into his throat, then escape. She didn't think of the chances of her success, or the consequences if she was caught. She reached for the scissors. But Barasa wasn't fully engrossed in removing the bandage. He had been watching her since, staring closely as she chose between what to do and what not to do. Barasa grabbed her hand. In a swift move he knocked the scissors out of her hand; they fell to the floor and he flipped her over. Tari landed like a sack of tomatoes on the table, knocking off half of the tools with her, while the table stayed afloat. She groaned, but had no time to feel the pain. She picked up the tweezers she spotted, then lunged at him. Before she could stand up fully, Barasa's palm was already wrapped round her throat. He slammed her back onto the cotton curtain, revealing the glass wall behind it. The tweezers fell from Tari's grip, and she grabbed his arm around her neck as it knocked the air out of her. She saw it — the determination in his eyes, the redness spreading from his left eye to the right. Her veins popped on her forehead, and Tari could swear she saw her life flash through her already blurry vision. Tears gathered in her already red eyes. Barasa's grip increased, like he had one goal — to murder her. Then he shook his head and released her neck. She fell on the floor, taking oxygen greedily into her lungs. A loud cough that rippled pain through her chest echoed as she inhaled. "Bastard," Tari called, caressing her neck. Barasa stared at her pitiful state, then shook his head. "Your mouth will be your doom," he muttered. "You almost sent me to my maker and this is all you have to say?" Tari said. "After the choking you're still not going to let me leave!!! How else do I provoke you?" Tari barked. "You are vengeful but stupid," Barasa said, sitting back on the bed. The table floated away, then came back with an ashtray and a roll of weed with a lighter. Barasa used the scissors to cut off the head of the cigar. "Don't smoke in front of me," Tari ordered, still in her miserable state. Barasa spared her a glance then lit the cigarette. He took a drag from it and turned to face her, before puffing the smoke in her direction. Tari couldn't stand; her body was exhausted. The room fell into silence — just two mad freaks staring daggers at each other. "Why did you save me?" Tari asked softly, still staring at Barasa. Barasa took his time with the cigarette before replying. "You're not special," Barasa replied. Tari raised an eyebrow at him. "Felt like it," Barasa replied. Tari scoffed. "You don't look like the kind of guy who will jump into the ocean to save someone without wanting anything back. You are like the devil — give and get," Tari said, still staring at him. Barasa puffed out smoke and turned to her; their gazes locked and neither of them looked away. "You are smart, I will give you that," Barasa replied and took a drag. "You were the one who sent me those texts, the day before I overheard Mitari and Musa's plan. They gave me a clue about the missing funds — it was you all along. The mastermind. You wanted me to hear Mitari and Musa's scheme. You wanted my kidnap to make it look like an accident. You are something else," Tari smirked. A small smile spread across the side of Barasa's lips. He crushed the cigar on the ashtray. "You need me for something," Tari added. Barasa's smile dropped. "Like I said, you are smart," Barasa replied. "With a price," Tari added. "Did somebody offer you billions to capture me for them? Maybe one of those fat-bellied rich folks I rejected?" Tari replied. "You ain't worth a billion," Barasa replied. Tari's smirk died immediately. "Prick," Tari cursed under her breath. "I want to make you a deal," Barasa said. His tone was becoming serious. Tari stayed silent, waiting to hear it. "You want revenge. I will help you with a far better one than the plan you have going on in that empty head of yours," Barasa said. Tari frowned immediately. "Fucker," Tari spat. "You..." Barasa was cut off by the sliding open of the door. Athena walked in angrily. Behind her were both guards on the floor. They must have tried to stop her, but Athena wasn't weak. She was born and raised in Veinhill; she was a pro fighter. "This bitch again," Chief Athena scoffed. [Mitari's Mansion] "Ahhh" Mitari threw her head backwards. She grinded up and down, taking him slowly into her wet folds. Her palms rested on his chest, with both of his arms wrapped round her waist. Guiding her every slide in a steady rhythm. "Fuck, sweetheart, you are so fucking sweet," Musa groaned. "For you, sweetheart," Mitari replied, slowly increasing her pace. "Hmm," Musa groaned and slammed her down on his length. Mitari jerked and gasped in shock. "Baby!" Mitari screamed between gasps. "I will take it from here, sweetheart," Musa said. He sat up and flipped her over, making her stay beneath him while he hovered on top of her. He raised her legs and wrapped them round his neck, then guided his length into her, slamming into her with a force so brutal it made her scream. "Yes, baby!" "Screw me!!!" "Yes!!!" [Fifteen minutes later] Mitari climbed down the stairs wrapped in a white robe. Musa followed behind her with a towel wrapped round his waist. Mitari was all sweaty. She walked into the kitchen while Musa settled on the couch. The front door opened and Mr. Bannerman walked in. Musa frowned when he saw the pot-bellied man walk into the house like he owned the place. Their eyes met and the frown deepened. "What the fuck are you doing here? Who the fuck let you in?" Musa questioned. "The gateman," Mr. Bannerman answered. He took off his shoes and wore flip-flops meant for Musa. "Excuse me," Musa called his attention. Mr. Bannerman let out a small smirk. "You had your turn with her. I came to have mine," Mr. Bannerman said. At that moment, Mitari walked out of the kitchen with two mugs of coffee. "Baby, we have work throughout the night so we need..." Mitari trailed off seeing Mr. Bannerman. "Mr. Bannerman, how did you find my house?" Mitari questioned, frowning as she dropped the mugs on the center table. "I came for you, my dear," Mr. Bannerman replied, walking towards Mitari, but Musa blocked her. Mr. Bannerman adjusted his glasses. "What the fuck is wrong with you, old fool?" Musa frowned. "I want her. You had her, so why can't I have my turn?" Mr. Bannerman replied. "What the heck. Have you gone mad!" Mitari came out from behind Musa. "You heard me well, princess," Mr. Bannerman added. "Leave my house before I call the cops on you, old fool!" Mitari barked, already pissed. Mr. Bannerman let out a low, disappointed growl and readjusted his glasses. "I will be back," Mr. Bannerman replied. He changed into his shoes and walked out. The second the door closed behind him, Mitari turned to Musa. "Baby, I swear I have never cheated on you, not with that fat hulk," Mitari said, with pleading eyes. She stayed silent, waiting for his reply, and when none came, she went on her knees immediately, hands clasped together. "Baby..." "Stop embarrassing yourself and get up," Musa said. She obeyed instantly. "Come," he ordered. Mitari walked to him and he pulled her onto his lap. "You wouldn't cheat on me — you'd not have the audacity. I know that. That bastard came for something else," Musa said. "Huh?" Mitari said, confused. "His glasses. They had a camera on them. He probably has someone blackmailing him who wants us gone, so he was sent as a pawn to catch us together," Musa said. "Seriously? Baby, you are so smart," Mitari said. "I know," Musa replied, rubbing her back slowly. "We have to kill him," Musa added. Mitari stiffened. "Another kill, babe..." "I know I promised after your sister, but the journey we are on is a dangerous one — it's either we get swallowed by the dangers or we join them. We will have to take out a few people on the way," Musa kissed her earlobe. "But... fine, just Mr. Bannerman," Mitari said. "And the gateman. He gave the passcode to Bannerman — he's been bought," Musa said and kissed her jawline. "Okay, baby...""I will make you a deal." Barasa paused."You work only for me, I will—""Tari!""Tari!"Tari's eyes snapped open almost immediately. She blinked repeatedly, adjusting to the brightness of the room. After a moment she turned her head to the side, only to see Ebiere sitting beside her on the bed."Thank goodness," Ebiere exhaled."I thought the situation was serious when you were brought in last night," Ebiere spoke softly."What happened?" Tari questioned, wiping her eyes with the back of her palm.Tari tried to sit up, but a wave of pain shot through her body, sending shivers through her veins, and she fell back onto the mat."The fuck?" Tari muttered."That is what you get for messing with a chief. And not just any chief — Chief Athena. Are you even in your right mind?" Ebiere scolded, making Tari frown.Ebiere sighed."I am sorry for raising my voice at you," Ebiere apologized."But there are rules here. You do not disobey or fight with a chief here in Veinhill. They are like the g

Tari wiped the last speck of dust away from the enormous painting. She climbed down from the ladder, a loud exhale left her lips as she sat on the giant couch. She stared at the dirty bucket of water for a long time, before staring at her dusty dirty hands.Never in her twenty-six years of living has she ever imagined a life like this for herself. There was nothing she didn't have while she was still in the city — was it power? Wealth? Name it, she had them all.Never in her life has she ever touched a rag, talk less of a bucket. She lay gently back on the couch. Her eyes closed, letting exhaustion take the best of her, but before she could drift off her lids snapped open.Tari's gaze landed on the huge painting on the wall, of a woman covered in a black veil entirely with just her lips left out."I can't do this anymore," Tari muttered, sitting up.She had cleaned the entire tower with Freyana, with Freyana letting her do most of the work."Tari," Freyana called, walking into the roo
"Command, Frost coming in," Frost spoke, hiding behind a sandbag.Gunfire poured in his direction from different angles, most of them hitting the sandbag, while he barely missed some.He racked his gun, and turned to see his target but a bullet came out of nowhere so he had to continue hiding."Commanding Frost speaking, I am in position, do you copy!" Barasa barked into the ear bug.But what came back was complete silence, still nothing from the other end.He gritted his teeth together in frustration, and removed the ear bug from his ear and threw it on the ground.Listening closely from where the bullets were coming from, he made a quick calculation. There are seven shooters.Without further thought. He squatted, using his handgun he shot two of the shooters from the east, then threw a knife at the last one standing at the east, without missing, the knife got the shooter on his forehead and he dropped dead instantly.Barasa immediately took that opportunity and ran for the east buil
"My lady," Antonia called, as she walked into Chief Athena's quarters.Chief Athena glanced up with a smile. With a wave of her hand, all the maids attending to her rushed out.Athena stood from the bed, then walked to the floor-to-ceiling glass wall, overlooking the buzzing town of Veinhill."Speak," Chief Athena ordered."My lady," Antonia bowed, before raising her head."Frost made her a maid. He also assigned Freyana to work with her as a maid," Antonia said.Athena turned to Antonia immediately, eyes wide with disbelief. Antonia lowered her head, avoiding Athena's gaze."Freyana, your competitor? The best female warrior—or are you joking?" Athena questioned with disbelief.A frown appeared on Antonia's face upon hearing Freyana's name called the best female warrior. But the look disappeared the same way it came."It is true, my lady," Antonia said."I saw them cleaning the tower just now," Antonia added.Chief Athena scoffed, turning her back to Antonia."If you don't have anythi
[Veinhill ~ Maid’s Quarters]Tari covered her ears, trying to block the voices disturbing her sleep. But who was she kidding? The voices kept coming and she had no other choice but to wake from her sleep."The fuck! Keep your voice down" Tari barked, as she sat up on the bed.Ebiere and Freyana paused what they were doing and turned to stare at her."You are awake" Ebiere smiled. She raised her hand to feel Tari's temperature, but Tari slapped it off. The frown on her face deepened."Still rude" Ebiere nodded and dropped her arm."You need to eat and go clean up with Freyana." Ebiere said."Pardon?" Tari questioned with a raised eyebrow."Clean. Clean what?" Tari demanded.Freyana exchanged glances with Ebiere. Ebiere stood up from the small round table, then she sat beside Tari's bed."You heard me right? The chiefs want you gone, especially Lady Athena; even the warriors and the villagers." Ebiere sighed."And how the fuck should that affect me? Do I look like I want to be here?" T
