Chapter 5 Rescue

She picked up the notebook, noticing that it was the same as the notebook with the name inside the car. But this one has nothing in it. Irene also picked up the USB and checked it out as well.

She unconsciously let go of the two items that she was holding in from shock when she heard a loud rattle in the car and also heard the guy sobbing continuously.

When Irene struggled to catch it with her right foot, it only threw itself under the car as if it looked like she had just kicked them away because of bad timing. Bent down under to see how far she kicked them for. She saw it not so far away from her, and she also saw the guy’s foot coming towards her. She stood up straight, hoping to have a talk with him, but he just completely ignored her.

“Where is he? I said where is Raya?!”

He stated as he grabbed Irene’s collar, yelling in her face. She pushed him away from her and spoke.

“What? You’re too close!”

Irene couldn’t tell if he was giving her a grim look or just a sad glare because his cheeks were swollen, his forehead was bruised and his lips had been cut. He looks like someone beat him up so badly. The guy returned to the vehicle and searched further. Until he came back with something that he was putting in the inside pocket of his jacket, and at the same time, he ran as fast as he could in the opposite direction.

“Wait! Where are you going? There’s no one out there!”

She added, calling out for him.

Now, Irene felt even more alone, without no one to rely on. She recalls the two items under the car and took them out. She sat down next to Jaden and checked the notebook, as well as the drive she found. Put those objects in his chest and make him as a little table. Removed the rubber band from the notebook so she could free the pages. When it opened, some stuff had slipped from it. A credit card, small torn paper with only a contact number written on it, and a dried flower. Flipping through the notebook’s pages, she also sees some writing about names and numbers beside them.

Ignoring those things, she also checked the USB drive and felt nothing about it and just shrugged them off. Jaden grunts suddenly, and she rushed on, removing all the stuff she put on the top of his chest and putting all of it in her sling bag. She got all excited thinking that he’s conscious now, but a second passed. He seems to be not waking up any time soon.

She thought about the other journal in the car, so she stood up and made her way. When she got there, she couldn't find the same journal she saw earlier with a name on it. Right there, she’s reminded of the guy from a while ago. Maybe that was the thing he took for and he decided to run for escape.

With every passing minute, Irene noticed how the surroundings started to go dark. And the light poles on the street lead to brim their light onto the highway. At that moment, the silence made her feel even lonelier than ever. She wanted to cry, but she never saw the moment to be vulnerable at all. So instead, she waits patiently for help to arrive beside Jaden, hugging her knees as the icy breeze of the night sweeps in.

“I hope someone would pass here sooner. Even if it would be just one person.”

She said with her weak tone, praying.

Hoping that this nightmare would end and wake up knowing that those things that happened were all just bad dreams. Feeling tired and weak, she lay beside next to Jaden and never thought she had fallen asleep.

For a few moments later, Jaden had gained consciousness as the chilly breeze of air touched his cheeks. A sudden ring echoed in his ear and a flow of pain rushed on his head to make him feel more awakened. He recognized his phone in Irene’s arms and picked them up to call for someone.

As promptly as he took her hand, he noticed how her palm was so warm. He touched her forehead and planted a finger at the top of her lips. Just as he suspected, she’s having a high fever and saw some scratches on her face.

He took the stuffed toy and arranged it to be her pillow as well. He opened his phone, and he was glad to see that its bar was still more than half full. The smile he had gone to drained immediately when he saw that there was no reception.

Jaden reached into his car and noticed that the compartment was open. He looked for the other guy that he had tied up there, but he could no longer find him anywhere. He was even more disturbed by his discovery regarding the other guy. The person who strangled him earlier in the car flew through the windshield. The appearance of that person now was beyond his imagination. By that time he felt dizzy from the sight of it, and his stomach churns in. He can no longer keep his composure and vomits right there.

After recovering from what he saw, he glanced at the driver’s seat and grabbed the car's key. There he found a round key chain and pressed its button so hard. Over thirty minutes later, three black cars came and lined up right beside his damaged car.

After they parked, the men inside immediately ran their way to Jaden’s view.

“Boss!”

His men greeted him in unison.

Even though he was still weak, he walked towards Irene and picked her up. His hands were shaking, but he held her tightly, not letting her slip from his arm, and they both got into the car that was first in line. Before closing its door, he instructed his men.

“You boys take care of what appears here. I had this guy with me who made his escape. He was red-haired, earrings in both ears and on his lower lip. And look for my journal as well. I perceive you know what I’m talking about.”

“Yes, Boss!”

They responded again in unison, and one of his men closed the door of the car; the driver turns the engine on the car and leaves away from the scene.

Inside the vehicle, Jaden’s two right-hand men were present. They were both can view the back seat from the front view mirror. One of them immediately called the other line to send the family’s Doctor to the mansion to look after their boss, as well as his companion.

“Boss Noel. What happened to you out there?”

He inquired with a hint of concern.

“Not now Sandro... Better speed up and I’m tired.”

Jaden stated, not feeling so well.

Sandro glanced at the two again, at the front view mirror in the backseat. He noticed a girl leaning deeply asleep on his boss' shoulder.

“Is this the person he met up at his friend’s resort?”

Thought to himself as he sped up the car so that they could return to the rest-house shortly.

When they arrived and got out of the car, some of Jaden’s men appeared and greeted him at the front door. Carrying the young woman in his arms, she was taken to a room, and followed by the doctor, who was requested there.

On the bed where she lay, Jaden was sitting patiently on the couch as she was being treated by the doctor. There was a wine next to him and consumed it in silence while watching everything. He summoned his two right-hand men, who are Sandro and Bryan.

He assigned the two to find out about the young woman’s identity. And also locate the guy who had escaped from him. They were promptly quick to respond, and at the same time, both excused themselves to take action of his demands.
