Chapter 4

Author: Embrace the Galaxy
Under the greenhouse's warm, gentle lights, my face, which was swollen from pesticide poisoning, had turned a grotesque shade of bluish purple. My eyes were shut tight, and my lips were black.

That was how I had looked when I finally gave up struggling and closed my eyes to meet my end.

"What… What is going on here?" Jeremy asked in a shaky voice.

"How vile… Ugh… She placed a corpse here to trick us." Andrew's stomach churned violently.

Marcus' expression grew frighteningly dark.

Forcing down his shock and nausea, he barked coldly at the cleaning crew, "Drag it out and dispose of it immediately! Don't dirty my place!"

Not one of them thought the corpse was me. They all assumed that I was throwing a tantrum and had run away from home. To them, this random corpse was just another nuisance I had planted to annoy them.

I was absolutely disappointed in them. It seemed that I was even less than a corpse in their eyes. They didn't even care to look more closely and identify if it was me.

My body was stuffed into a black bag and carried away. As I was taken out, Marcus ordered the cleaning staff to spray disinfectant throughout the greenhouse, inside and out, several times with a look of pure disgust.

After all this was done, they finally remembered me, the sinner who had run away from them and caused them all this trouble.

Jeremy sat on the couch, so mad that veins popped at his temples. "Bianca is getting more and more outrageous!"

Hearing this, Andrew chimed in, "Marcus, we should freeze all her cards. Let's see how she manages herself out there without money."

The scowl on Marcus' face deepened as he nodded.

He pulled out his phone and called his assistant. "Freeze all the cards under Bianca's name immediately. Also, check her recent spending records and contacts. Find out where she is!"

I floated above them, watching their reactions and listening to their vicious words. They thought that by cutting off my finances, I would be left with nowhere to go and would have no choice but to return and beg for forgiveness.

I looked at them and laughed silently. They didn't know that I had never activated a single card they gave me.

Not long after, the abrupt ring of a phone cut through the silent air.

Marcus' assistant called back, and he sounded confused over the phone. "I checked everything as you instructed, Mr. Graham. Ms. Graham doesn't have any bank accounts at all. Those cards you gave her were never activated."

Upon hearing those words, Marcus was stunned for a moment. "What? Are you sure?"

"Yes, Mr. Graham. There aren't any assets under Ms. Graham's name," his assistant replied.

I floated lightly in front of Marcus and watched his frown deepen. When I used to frown, he would always tell me that young ladies should smile more and that frowning wasn't pretty. It was such a distant memory that I had nearly forgotten it.

"Where could she possibly go without a cent to her name?" Marcus muttered to himself.

He then called my academic advisor, only to learn that I had requested an indefinite leave starting yesterday. When he heard that, he chucked his phone onto the floor in a fit of rage.

He shouted, "Bianca has gone overboard this time! Go and investigate! Even if we turn the whole city upside down, we must find her!"

Andrew got up silently and headed toward my room. He wanted to search for any clues I might have left behind to find out where I had gone.

I followed him into my room. This place was the only refuge I had in the house. It was pathetically small, and it contained nothing but a few pieces of old clothing and shelves packed with medical books.

Andrew sifted through what he considered junk, trying to uncover any trace of my whereabouts after running away from home. He soon reached my bed. Upon turning over my pillow, he found a folded piece of paper underneath.

Puzzled, he opened it.

Written in bold, the title read, "Invitation from the Bamir Cardiovascular Research Center of Seinland for Bianca Graham to take up the role of Chief Researcher."

The date was half a month ago.

I floated right in front of him and watched as his pupils contracted sharply. Even his fingers started trembling.

"Marcus, Jeremy, come and look at this," he called, his own voice shaking without him even realizing it.

Marcus, Jeremy, and Andrew placed my urn in my room. The room they had once despised for being so small now became their sacred ground. With every connection and every resource he had, he exposed Mackenzie's stolen thesis and academic fraud to the public with ruthless speed. The college immediately revoked her graduation and permanently expelled her. All awards and honors connected to her were stripped away.He also uncovered the truth that Mackenzie's parents had deliberately swapped me with their own newborn daughter at birth. Mackie: "I swapped her thesis, of course. I secretly read her research long ago. It was far better than mine."Katie: "What? You're incredible! But what if they find out?"Mackie: "Ha! I copied her final data and replaced it with my rough draft. Those three idiots only listen to me. They'll just think she's jealous of me. How will they ever know?"Katie: "You locked her up. What if someone discovers you did it?"Mackie: "What's there to fear? I stole the greenhouse remote. The greenhouse is fully sealed. As long as I keep pressing the spray button, the high-concentration pesticide will kill her in less than ten minutes."Katie: "You're ruthless!"Mackie: "Haha! She'll die without ever getting a chance to speak, and I'll take her research results as mine and become the brightest new star in the medical field!"Mackenzie's chat with Katie ended there.Marcus held the phone out to show the messages to Jeremy and Andrew. Every sentence and word seared into their hearts like red-hot

As Jeremy's call had been on speakerphone, Marcus and Andrew heard every word. The truth was made known to them abruptly and unexpectedly. It was like an ice-cold bucket of water had been poured over their heads, chilling them to their bones.Only now did they realize that I truly was a genius. The young woman they had locked inside the greenhouse, and the one they had condemned as being malicious, was in fact a true genius. The corpse they had ordered to be disposed of in disgust… The rotting, stinking body they could not even bring themselves to identify was their own sister's remains.Marcus let out a roar of anguish. He clutched his head and dropped to his knees in pain.He remembered the pleading, desperate look in my eyes as he dragged me into the greenhouse. He remembered my frantic pounding on the door as I begged them to let me out. Regret and despair coursed through him, drowning him.It was him… It was them… They had all ignored Sofia's worried pleas. He remembered co

Marcus and Jeremy quickly rushed over. It became crowded in my tiny room. I floated a little farther away from them.Jeremy snatched the invitation letter from Andrew's hand."How could she have an invitation from the Bamir Research Center?" he asked, confusion and shock evident on his face.As a renowned surgeon, he understood better than anyone the weight of that invitation. It was the dream destination of cardiovascular researchers around the world. When Andrew called out for the other two, Mackenzie followed them in as well. The moment she caught sight of the invitation letter, I caught a flicker of panic in her eyes. However, she quickly calmed herself and said softly, "Could Bianca have fabricated this? She's always been so competitive and jealous that I could graduate. So, maybe she…"Though it sounded as if she was making up excuses to defend my actions, every sentence she uttered subtly implied that I was deceitful.Upon hearing her words, Marcus' expression shifted rap

Marcus gnashed his teeth and said, "When dealing with someone like her, we can't show mercy. Today, I'll drag her out myself and make her apologize to you."With that, he suddenly stood up and made his way toward the greenhouse in long strides. Jeremy and Andrew followed close behind, their faces wearing the same cold and ruthless expressions.Sofia tried to step forward to stop them. Jeremy shoved her aside, sending her staggering and crashing into the wall."Get out of the way! This is none of your business!" Jeremy barked. My soul floated silently behind them, watching this ridiculous scene with icy detachment.Go on. Go see the masterpiece you created with your own hands, which Mackenzie perfected with a fatal touch. At the greenhouse door, everything was silent.Marcus stood before the sealed entrance and shouted angrily at the door, "Bianca! Have you learned your lesson?"Only dead silence answered him."Are you playing dumb now?" Marcus gave a cold laugh and quickly ent
