Chapter 1 Abandoned

Author: Nameless
Someone untied my wrists and ankles. I pushed myself up, but Rachel Chandler flogged me. My stomach throbbed with pain, and I curled on the ground. When I looked up, I was met with Rachel's disdain.

She was an admirer of my stepbrother, Harold Shaw, and she was the one who suggested imprisoning me on this island. "You broke Harold's cup. You can survive here alone."

I clenched my teeth and looked at her. "Yvonne's going to kill you! Let me go home!"

Rachel laughed until she doubled over, and she looked at me with mockery in her eyes. "She's the one who gave us the boat that sent you here. She's not going to kill me."

I froze. As I watched Rachel leave, my eyes went red. I quickly fished my phone out and called Yvonne. The signal was bad, and when it finally went through, I was hit by Harold's cloying voice.

"Are you on the island already? Reflect on yourself, got it?"

"You'll go to hell for doing this to me, Harold!" Anger flared within me the moment that bastard's voice hit my ears.

"Enough!" said Yvonne coldly, and my hand shook. "You knew that cup was something his mother left him before she died, and you smashed it anyway. I can't believe you're this vile."

I stood frozen, and I hoarsely said something I had repeated forever. "I didn't do it, Yvonne."

"You're going to tell me you didn't just curse him?" she said angrily. "You lie, and you have an evil heart. You should stay on that island and reflect on your actions."

The sun was scorching, yet my body felt frozen solid. This woman was my fiancee. We grew up together, but she didn't trust me, only my stepbrother.

I felt myself choking up, and I couldn't say anything.

Then, the rustling from a nearby bush turned my attention away. A crocodile about seven feet long was crawling away, its tail swaying in the air, and its stench filled everything around it.

Sweat drenched my back, and tears filled my eyes. Urgently, I pleaded, "Please, let me go home, Yvonne! There are beasts here! I'll die!"

"I just want an apology, Christian! You'd rather lie than reflect on yourself?" Harold's voice was choking. I could even see the disgusting look on his face.

I clenched my phone tightly, as if I was waiting for a final judgment. "I'll let you go after Harold's not angry anymore."

The call ended, and my phone beeped.

I stared down at my reflection on the screen. My eyes were filled with helplessness, and I looked dejected, as if I was a pup who'd lost a fight for his home.

Yvonne hung up, frowning. She looked at her phone, and part of her heart felt like it was taken away. Harold sidled up to her and put on a sweet smile, then he tried to put an arm around her.

She sighed and stepped back, then patted his shoulder.

"The Shaws are bankrupt, and Harold's imprisoned on that island."I looked at her, surprised."Mr. Shaw wants to see you. Will you…"I snickered. "Why? So, he can yell at me about how evil little me hurt his first love's son?""No. He wouldn't do that to you." Yvonne looked at me, brokenhearted.Samantha stood beside me, quiet until this point, then she stood between us. "Your family's gone after theirs. He's only trying to see Christian so that you'll let up on the assault."Yvonne had nothing to say to that."Do you really think you can win him back with fake feelings?"She acted like she had had it, and she glared at Samantha darkly. "Christian grew up with me! A pathetic bitch that has only hid in the shadows like you can never understand our bond! Do you really think he married you because he loves you? You're just a tool he's using to get back at me."She looked at me with sorrow and urgency. "I know you're getting back at me. If you stay with me, I'll give you everythin

She came for me. My heart was swelling with affection and something sweeter. I thought, 'You saved me. Why are you apologizing?'I was reminded of the time I was just rescued. I couldn't sleep, and my eyes were red with hatred. Sometimes I would lose my mind, and when I calmed down, the picture of Harold had been stabbed with a knife. I was possessed by the desire to kill.Samantha was the one who held me and gently comforted me. "Don't give up on yourself over this. You have a long future ahead of you. You have more than one way to take revenge, and I'll help you, alright?"I snapped out of it and smiled, then I held her hand. "Want to date me?"Something heavy fell with a thud outside the door. Yvonne stood petrified, and the thing that fell was a bag of fruits. She quickly picked it up and came into the room. "I'll tell you what I found, Christian."She looked at me, pale but forcing a smile. Samantha blinked. She half sat up and leaned closer to me, then shrank into my emb

A pair of slender hands grabbed on to me tightly. "Christian!"It was Samantha. Her face was twisted as well, but from exertion, and she slowly pulled me up. I held my breath and worked with her, but I widened my eyes in shock. "Look out!"The caretaker found her bearing after getting pushed away, then she grabbed a thermos and slammed it over Samantha's head. She shook her head but didn't loosen her grip on me at all. Blood trickled down her head and splashed against my face, yet she still gave me a reassuring smile. She was hit a second time. She staggered, and her fingers dug deep into my flesh."Christian!" Yvonne suddenly came running. She slammed her heels over the caretaker's head and pulled me up with a nurse's help.I fell to the ground, dazed and feeling no strength. Samantha wobbled for a moment, then she fell with a thud. I crawled over to her, my eyes filled with tears."It's alright, Christian. We'll call the doctor." Yvonne tried her best to stay calm. I held my forehead in exhaustion and closed my eyes. It was time to send her away. "Leave. I don't want to see you again."There was no sound of her leaving. I looked at her, and her face was twisted with something that looked like something between a smile and the look of someone crying. "It's Samantha, isn't it? You fell for her, so you want to cancel our marriage?"I stared at her in disbelief. This was unreasonable, and I laughed mirthlessly. "Do you have any idea what I looked like when I was saved?"She froze."I was a caveman, a madman, and I weighed less than 100 pounds. My mind was somewhere else, I had a stomach ulcer, claustrophobia, and my right leg had a bone fracture. If it weren't for Samantha, you'd have found two corpses in that cave! From the moment you sent me to that island with your boat, we were done."Yvonne's tears splashed against the ground. She looked at me with horror and panic in her eyes. "I'm sorry. I'll change. Just come home with me, I beg you."
