"You may kiss the bride." Lila took a double take at the priest; she definitely remembered telling him to take out that part. She was getting married to him, but there was no way she would be doing anything intimate with him.
"Come on, sweetheart." She saw Levi's expression and could tell that this was his doing. How dare he think of doing something like this?
She turned to the priest and smiled forcefully at him with gritty teeth. "I told you to take out this part."
"Your husband asked me to leave it in."
She turned back to him, ready to rain hell on him. She looked at the congregation, waiting for them to kiss. She knew that anything she did now would be remembered for a long time, and all of these people seated in the church on a Saturday afternoon were there just to know if the two families had gotten together. She pressed her lips and leaned into him.
He held her by the waist and pulled her in. "I am going to kill you," she murmured against his lips.
"How can we make this believable if we do not kiss in front of them?" He murmured back.
She heard the crowd cheer maybe his tactics had worked but he needed to inform her about it before throwing the surprise on her. She took a step back from him and stared him down. He could hear the words violently flying at him from the state.
He cleared his throat and looked away from her to the crowd. He moved closer to close the gap between them and she held the hand he perched across his body. "Shall we?" He murmured gently and she nodded.
The cheering from the crowd did not stop until they were out the door. "Don't ever think of doing anything like this next time" she whispered tilting her head in his direction.
"I know you loved it, it was your shot at... " He trailed off in pain from her fingers holding his skin tightly as she pinched his side.
"Try this again and I might finally live out my dream of getting you killed" she added smiling at the camera that was pointing at them.
"Can you get closer? Act like a couple in love" the photographer said.
Lila took a deep breath she could not believe that their families had gone through all of this trouble for a wedding that would end in would. What was the need for it in the first place? After taking pictures with everyone they headed to the reception venue.
"Spend the rest of the evening being a doll by my side" Levi said as they stood by the door waiting to make an entrance into the party.
Her sisters had been so excited about it that she wondered if they were aware she was getting married to the Beaumont family and not a special person. "A doll?" she scoffed. He turned to her and she could tell that he had said that just to get on her nerves.
"If you wanted a doll, you should have gone to a bar and taken a pimp; I am not a doll, and I would never be one, especially to you," she spat at him.
"Woah, calm down," he said, letting out a short chuckle. "It is so easy to get you riled up," he added.
"Let us just get this over with as soon as possible," she replied, clutching his hand and pinching the inside. He bit the inside of his cheeks to stop himself from screaming out loud.
Soon they were going from table to table, and everyone was praising their maturity in making sure that the feud between families ended. "The both of you getting together just proves that everything is possible as long as you can dare to dream," one man said to them. "Who would have thought that we would ever have both powerful families in the same room at once?" another commented. "The two of you handled the feud of many generations with just a marriage; now the rest of us do not have to walk on eggshells around you."
Lila wanted to burst their bubble and tell them that this was temporary and that they would end up fighting worse than when they first started because of how much they would hate each other at the end of the marriage. There was no way she would let the Beaumont family walk out of this better than her family after this entire show they were putting on.
They all turned to their fathers standing side by side on the stage with the MC by their side clinging to the glass in his hand to alert the attention of the crowd.
"Who ever knew that this day would come?" William said happily. Lila wondered how her father was acting so well, he should take an acting job because he would be so good at it.
"That both families would be ruined like this after being at loggerheads with each other for so many years" Daniel added. Levi and Lila were not left out of the acting as they held hands and smiled at each other. Their families had emphasised the need for the marriage to work, this was a waste of time if it did not work out for them.
"We have been fighting but today I present to you, both families coming together to be a big family" William added. Both men clinged their glasses and then shook their empty hands.
"For that reason, we would love to bestow a very wonderful wedding gift on our children for being the pioneers of both families living in peace" Daniel added and beckoned them to come on stage. They weaved their way from the table where they had been greeting the guests and got on stage with their fathers.
"To show our support for you and your newfound home, we would like to..."
"Hand over the project of Skyline to you and your wife so you can manage" Daniel said cutting off Williams. William swallows to control himself from flaring up and smiles at them.
"Us?" Lila asked pointing to themselves.
"Of course, we would not want anyone else to handle it" William replied.
"That is our gift to you."
Lila called her sisters to give them an update on what had happened. "So, Mom kicked us out," Lila said."Thank God," Victoria replied, earning a scoff from both her sisters. "You guys want to act like you do not know what I mean. I mean, I love Mom, but these kinds of love are better expressed from a distance. I could imagine living in that place with her and having her breath down my neck," she added."I can not imagine that either, but still it's kind of sad that she kicked her out," Beth replied."Beth, you only say it is kind of sad because you have the best relationship with Mom; if you were in either of our shoes..." Vitoria shuddered as she trailed off. "Trust me, you wouldn't want to be in our shoes," she added."Guys, that is not the issue here," Lila said, drawing them back to reality. "The issue is that...""There is no issue here; I only want to know the full details of what happened last night," Victoria replied. Lila knew that if it were her sister against her mom, she
Lila stirred in bed; she felt her head pound a little as she struggled to sit up, memories of her ruining her mother's party came flooding back into her mind. She winced as she looked around the room, wondering how disappointed she must have been feeling at her. She had a chance to prove herself, but the only thing she did was blow it at once. She looked around the room, wondering why she was alone; she at least thought that Levi would be there with her when she woke up. All she remembered was introducing Levi to his girlfriend and then blacking out at once. She immediately concluded that he had probably gone to see Fiona. She had to think back on the night because her just fainting like that out of nowhere made no sense. The party had started, and someone offered a drink. Without thinking too much about it, she accepted, and the next thing she knew, she was dizzy and blacking out out of nowhere. She managed to get out of bed at once and with all the strength within her, she changed o
Lila thought long and hard about how she could make Levi want to stay at the manor. She knew that once she successfully planned this party and her mom saw her potential, then she would look at her with more love. Maybe she might even compliment her a little, and that was exactly what Lila wanted. If her mom could just acknowledge her, then she would want to run out of the manor like she felt in that moment. She suddenly thought of something that might make Levi want to stay in the mansion. Maybe if his ex-girlfriend were there, then he would want to stay, as he would see her every day. That could be a good reason for him. She smiled as she tried her best to contact Fiona.Fiona was one of those girls who said harsh words with a smile on their face. So they try to maintain a nice appearance while being the mean girl. When Lila had reached out to her and explained her situation, stating that she would love to give her a job at the manor. Fiona told her blankly that she did not need the
Every single time Levi spoke to Lila, she couldn't help but notice that something was different between them. She constantly found herself daydreaming about his long, slender fingers or maybe his face at times. Even though she did not want to admit it, she was sensing the growing feelings from her end and no matter what, she could not bring herself to accept it."Levi Beaumont?" she murmured to herself as she stared in the mirror. After the buzz feeling from the charity event was over, she was now back to the worker she hated so much. It was still a mystery to her why she would be fired and given such a job that was below her but she did not think about it too much, as all she thought about was trying to please her mother and occasionally Levi found a way into her mind."How can it be? How can I like him? It is impossible because I hate him and our families as well. Not only do I hate him because he is a Beaumont but also we have been rivals for the ongets time so this feeling must be
Lila told herself that the thing with Levi and his ex-girlfriend would not affect her mood but she was totally wrong. She stayed at the bar trying to make sure she did not see what they were doing but she was either drinking heavily or trying to turn around to see what had happened. She knew her mother would have been disappointed in her that night even though she did not really know why she would have been; all she knew was that she would frown and turn her nose upwards. From the bar where she stayed, all she could see was Levi and Fiona flirting uncontrollably. "Shouldn't he act as if he is married? I know that all of this is for show but still, what about respecting me?" she murmured as she circled the rim of her glass with her finger. She bent her head and sighed at how unlucky she was in life. She tried to cheer herself up but no matter what she said to herself, it did not seem to make her feel better; all she felt was worse. Her phone rang, startling her, and for some reason she
Lila finally understood why everyone cheered when they announced the people bidding because now she was actively raising her baton and screaming numbers in the air. Every time someone outbid her, she thought of her life before she raised it in the air and screamed a higher number. She knew her mother would think of her actions as foolish, but seeing that Levi was well-liked by everyone in the hall, she had no choice but to go higher.Levi could not tell if she was teasing him with her actions or if she was being for real with it because she had not seemed interested in anything happening since the bidding started. He smirked at her and received no reaction, as she seemed too busy with the bid. He prayed she would bid high, that she would win, as he would very much like that.Levi was not surprised by the numbers flying in the air; it was a charity, and every businessman wanted to use this opportunity to feel like a saint in society. Tomorrow, the headlines would read something noble a
The Mc told them all to have a seat, and Lila almost cheered in happiness. She was not uncomfortable with dancing with Levi; she just did not like the way they stared at each other and how awkward things were because of the kiss they shared. The host announced that the bid would be in two parts to raise money for a children's charity, stating that there would be two parts where they would bid on items as scheduled, and after that, they would bid on eligible bachelors among them. She had been a workaholic who would rather donate anonymously than show up to events like this, so she never knew what events like this were. Seeing that after hearing that they would bid for bachelors, everyone seemed normal, she had to agree that it was a normal occurrence as well.Everyone in the hall cheered. Lila looked around as she wondered if she was the only one who did not get the concept of the bidding on people's part. She did not pay attention to the auction as she heard people pour millions of do
The kiss continued, and both hands flew across their body as if this was not the first time they were doing this. With how swift they were, one would think they had been a cosy couple with each other. The way the lips moulded with each other was a sign that they both wanted this.Lila, however, was sure that it was because of how sad she felt earlier that caused this. She was not the kind of girl to just think of kissing a man and do it just because of the fun of it, and moreover, this was Levi; Levi was not the kind of man she would think of kissing just like that. She began to realise what was happening, and her heart was racing with numerous worries.'Why are your eyes closed? Why are you enjoying this? Why does it feel like something you've been missing and that you want?' Lila screamed at herself in her mind before jerking out of the kiss. It was hard to blame it on anyone, as they had both initiated and kissed each other with the same vigour. She stood up and hurried out of the
Lila just realised how popular Levi was as they walked in; different people kept standing up to talk to him, and he made sure to first introduce her to them before engaging them in any conversation whatsoever. Lila got tired of standing as she thought they would be sitting by then. She leaned into his ear and whispered. "I'll be in the washroom," she said before slipping away. She knew what they were speaking on, but she did not want to chime in, especially since they had not asked her to. She was glad to be away from the conversation and people at once. From the door of the room, she could tell that there was a group of girls in there, and from the sound of it, they were talking about someone. She got into the washroom and maybe the girls in there did not know she was the one but they seemed to be talking about her. "Talk about gold digger vibes," one of them said and the rest snickered."I mean, she swore that she hated him but then went on to marry him." It was obvious that these g
