Lila Carrington gets the most shocking news from her father at dinner one day, and all he said was a decree that she has to follow through with even though she has her own reservations—she was supposed to tie the knot with Levi Beaumont. The Carrington and Beaumont families have been enemies for decades, and truthfully none of them know the real reason behind the fight because each person seems to have their own side to the story, so Lila did not understand the reason that her father, who taught her never to associate herself with the Beaumont family, was the same one pushing her into marriage with one of them. Levi did not want the relationship either, but the families had to form an alliance so they could both remain in business. It had to be done. Driven with the passion to stay in business, Lila and Levi help their family out, but with the promise to their parents that it would only last a year and they would be done. What happens when they begin to fall for each other? Do the Carringtons and the Beaumonts reunite, or does a war happen? Legacy of Love and War is a romance like you have never seen before.

TIME: SUNDAY 6:45 PM
"Everyone, listen up," William said from the head of the table, tapping the edge slightly to catch the attention of everyone. Williams was a family man, and for that reason, he had the entire family back at his mansion every Sunday for dinner to get away. That way, they could discuss and gloss over the events of the week and give each other updates.
After dinner every night, the men got together and watched a sport regardless of what was airing at that time. They all seemed to enjoy the time together. The older women would go out to the balcony and have tea while talking; they called it talking, but everyone knew very well that it was gossip. The younger girls would cluster in Lila's room and try to really catch up on what had been going on.
Everyone raises their head to William at the head of the table. He dropped his spoon to his plate and propped his elbow on the table so he could intertwine his fingers. Seeing his posture, everyone could tell that this was serious business, so they all kept quiet and dropped their cutlery to their plates as well.
"Lila," he said, calling on his last daughter. She looked at him, trying to decipher what he was going to say. She could not read minds, but she was sure this had something to do with her marriage. Both of her elder sisters had gotten married at the age of twenty-four, and she was already a year late, according to her father's timeline, which made her wonder if he was really going to set up a marriage for her as he did with her sisters.
"You are going to be getting married to Levi Beaumont," the smile on her face faded. She understood her father's proposition to want to choose space for them because of their position in society. It was best for them to get married to the rich so they could stay rich longer. That was the only way that the Carrington family has been able to stand and stay rich for five generations now. That was the same with the Beaumont family, but it did not make sense for both families to get married. They could say the name of each, so how could her father suggest that she get married to their enemy?
"William?" Eleanor screamed at him with her eyes open. She was his wife, and he did not want to discuss this with her before springing it up on them at this family dinner.
"Woman, let me be," he said. That was not his usual response, so it made everyone reel in shock.
"Daddy, you must have made a mistake in the name because surely you cannot ask me to marry a Beaumont," Lila said from beside her sister at the tail end of the table with her cousins sitting there.
"I have made no mistake; you will marry Levi Beaumont." They all stared at his face. The youngsters expected him to burst into uncontrollable laughter and tell them that it was all a prank, and he wanted to see the expression on their faces. If he did, that would not be out of his character; after all, that was the kind of man that he was. The laughter did not come, and so Elizabeth spoke. She was his first daughter and had been given to marriage to the Ashbourne family; she held the hand of her husband under the tale and cleared her throat.
"Daddy, we have never been on good terms with the Beaumonts, so how are we supposed to plan a wedding with them?" Elizabeth asked, earning her grunts of approval around the table.
"That is right, brother; that does not make sense. Are you trying to sell your daughter to the devil?" Carrie said and cleared her throat as well. They could all tell that he was being serious, and that was the reason they were all careful to tread. As much as he was playful, he also had a side to him where he hated to be challenged on his orders.
"When it comes to saving the honour and name of the family, does our enemy matter? If we have to dance with them just so we can live, then so be it."
"But dad..." Victoria began but was cut off by him slamming on the table, causing them all to jump a bit in fear. This was not the typical dinner at the Carrington family, and no one liked the turn that this was taking.
"We got an offer from Skyline," he said, and they all gasped. That had been the goal of Grandfather before he died; he always wanted to do business with Skyline; they were too big not to want to do business with them; doing business with them would automatically put the company in the global space, and that was what the Carrington family needed. "But they only offered to do business with us if we get together as contractors with the Beaumont family," he said, and they all frowned.
"I cannot let this opportunity slip off my hand because of the Beaumont family, and they want this as much as we do. To make sure that they do not betray us, I came up with the solution of having our children in a contract marriage for a year; by then we would have gotten what we needed from Skyline and we could go our separate ways," William explained. He did not plan to get stuck with them; he planned to keep pitching to Skyline, and he was sure that all he needed to get them all on board was just a year.
"So you are telling me to get married to Levi Beaumont for a year?" Lila asked, standing up. Her body pushed back the seat she had been sitting in, and the screech rang through the dining room. "I hate Levi with everything I have and own; I have had to come up against him every day, and you think it would be a good idea to put us in the same room and ask us to get married?" she asked. They all looked at her and understood exactly what she meant.
She was in charge of the food subsidy of the Carrington Group, and Levi was also in charge of the food subsidy in the Beaumont Group. They met more often because they always wanted to, and that made their own relationship even more special. They all knew that there was no way they would survive being in the same house without one of them turning up dead.
"That is what I want you to do."
"I can't do that."
Lila could not help but feel heartbroken and a tad bit depressed about everything that had happened. She was still not aware of what Levi had done that night because he did not mention it, and her mom did not say anything about it either. She was just lying around all day, trying to fill the void she had in her with as much junk as she could get. She was trying her best not to crash out, but she would find herself constantly breaking down in sobs throughout the day, and surprisingly, every time that happened, Levi was there to console her."You aren't going to work today either?" she asked when she realised he had not returned to work three days later."I am not" was all he said as they continued munching on breakfast."If it is because of me, you know you do not have to worry," she said, taking in his casual clothing. He had done enough for her and she did not want to feel more indebted to him on the case."It's not." She looked at him as he stared down at his plate, not daring to lo
Levi was able to see her location on his phone, and he was glad that he had agreed to share his location with her because now he would not have been able to know where she was. He drove down to the bar with such a speed that it would be enough to cause an accident. He was worried if she was as drunk as toulk out; who knows what anyone could do to her in that state? His grip on the steering wheel tightened, and his eyes flared with anger as he thought of what could have happened at her parents' house to cause her to think of drinking as much as she did. He wondered why her parents were like that, why they tortured her so much.He barely parked the car when he flew out of the car into the bar and walked in; his eyes scanned the entire room until they fell on her by the corner of the room. He let out a sigh of relief to see that no one had really noticed her and she was sleeping soundly. He walked to her and took her bag, hanging it over his shoulders before shaking her briefly."Who are
Lila had been so elated to see how viral the commercial she had done was. Everyone was complimenting her beauty, and with how many people were sharing the picture, it soon became the talk of the town."The commercial was a success," Levi said with a smile as they sat down for breakfast that morning."I see that and I think we have my beauty to thank for that" she said in a teasing voice and with a smile."I do not doubt that even for a second," Levi said, making her heart skip a beat. He was agreeing to the fact that she was good-looking. This was supposed to be a normal conversation, so she could not understand why it made her belly chime with joy. "Let's celebrate," Levi suggested when he realised the silence in the room."Celebrate?""Yes, the success of the commercial – I think it is worth celebrating.""Okay, what do you have in mind?""Maybe some fancy dinner and then we can hit the bar afterwards for some drinks? What do you think?" He asked, hoping she would not turn him down.
Levi was not thinking about anything; he could clearly tell from where he stood that Lila was uncomfortable with this man that had made his way into the room and was forcing himself on her."What are you doing?" Levi barked at him. The man seemed to take it as a challenge because he squared his shoulders and pushed out his chest as if to show he was a tad better than Levi."Talking to the pretty lady before you interrupted us," he replied. Lila was stunned at his response. He knew that Levi was still the boss and yet he wanted to go head-to-head with him? How nice, she thought to herself, taking a deep breath."And were you not taught that if a pretty lady says no, then she means no?" Levi asked. Lila could only focus her mind on where he called her pretty. Even though she knew it was for context's sake, it felt good to be called pretty by him; when the man in front of her had said it, she felt good but not as good as now with the butterflies in her stomach and the pounding of her che
Lila barely saw Levi for a week, as he always left at the crack of dawn and got back when the night was already far gone. She knew that if she were still working at Carrington Foods or even at the manor, she wouldn't have time to think about what Levi was doing and how she was alone in the house. Having Mayr and Elena was not enough company. No matter how she tried to connect with them, they always placed a gap, and she understood well what they were trying to say.She spent the entire week looking for modelling jobs; this was the only job she could do without her parents' interference. Knowing it was going to anger them, she did it because she needed money, and at the same time, she was bored. Her mother had taken the liberty of placing a hold on all of her accounts. She regretted in that moment not having a separate personal account. She was shocked that the Beaumont company offered her the first modelling gig. They knew very well who she was, and yet they thought it wise to still o
Lila never thought she could miss something she did not love, but here she was. She did not know she would miss Levi's house as much as this. It was his house because he was the one who got it and even paid for everything to make sure they had a place to live. She tried to make sure he did not show how happy she was to be back there.Levi introduced her to the newly hired keeper who was to live in. She wanted to ask him when he got the chance to do all of that, but she just let it go because he did not look as though he was happy to be there with her. She introduced herself as Mary and told her that she had a daughter who was a college student and was around because of vacation."I am glad to hear that; it's really good news," Lila said happily, clapping when she realised that she would not be at home alone. She was jobless, and that meant all she had to do was mope around all day. "I wouldn't sit around all day by myself," she added when it seemed like no one asked her why.Levi just
