Alone In The Woods

Sarai’s POV

I yanked my hand out of Devin’s and began to run out of the building, out into the woods where at least I wouldn’t have to see Damon’s face again.

As I ran, I realized that I was barefoot and the dirt and the pebbles on the ground were cutting into the soles of my feet, but I did not care.

I had looked out to the forest where the trees were many times in my life and pictured the life that was beyond them, and tonight, I believed that I would find it.

Running fast in the dark park, the chilly night air stinging my warm skin, Alpha Damon's hurtful words echoed in my head.

The betrayal hurt more than any physical pain. The moon was low, casting an eerie light on the trees. Ignoring calls from Devin and Beta Timothy, I was set on leaving for my mental well-being.

As I entered the thick woods, their voices faded, replaced by rustling leaves and distant creature howls.

It felt like the world was closing in on me. Alpha Damon's rejection hurt more than any physical injury. T
