The party was already in full swing when they got there. As they walked further down, all eyes turned to them. In actuality, they were staring at Ayra. Even the mated wolves couldn't resist looking at her for some seconds.

"I'm going to find my brother. I'll see you at the punch table." Selene disappeared into the crowd, leaving Ayra by herself. She saw her step-sister, Isla, mingling and laughing with her friends. There was no sign of Devin anywhere.

She located the punch table and grabbed a full glass. Sipping it, she nodded at the rich flavor of pineapple and coconut, her favorite combo. The stares she got were beginning to tell on her. They were full of lust

"Hey, beautiful," A guy approached her from the rear, causing her to sharply turn.

"Ugh... You..." She rolled her eyes and turned back to the punch table.

"You look wonderful tonight. How about we ditch these old people, go somewhere else, and have some fun?" Lancelot proposed. Ayra only laughed, all memories of how big of a bully he was to her started flooding in.

He and other kids made fun of her and threw stones and threw stones at her. He was the one she had asked out and he blatantly rejected her in front of everyone.

His hand went to her waist but she resisted him. His eyes didn't leave the massive cleavage that sprouted out of her gown. He wanted her badly and he was going to have her.

"Come on baby girl, I'm going to treat this banging body right." He pleaded, his lust all over the place. He was visibly hard but he had no shame.

"Fuck, just look at that arse..."

Ayra got fed up with his constant pleas and unpleasant touches and turned to look him dead in the eye.

"If your definition of fun is to fuck you, I'll pass a million times. I'd rather fuck a goat or a dog." She spat in response. His demeanor changed, a frown forming on his lips.

"And your point is?" He arched a brow.

"Oh, you're not actually as dumb as you look. I do have a point and it goes like this, you're a pig, undesirable, dirty, and smelly. A retard picked from a pile of rubbish and dumped on more piles of shit. Did you understand that, or do you want me to paraphrase?"

Lancelot lost it. He raised his hand to hit her but she caught his hand mid-air and reciprocated by slapping him hard across the face.

"I know stupidity courses through your veins but to hit a lady because she rejected you? Your foolishness is definitely something to write home about."

"How dare you, you bitch?" He charged toward her but she moved aside and brushed his legs, falling to his face. He turned, facing the sky. She was ready to pounce on him and beat the hell out of him but Devin intervened.

"What the hell did you say to her?" Devin inquired. He knew Ayra to be a hot head but never to the point that she would hit someone for no reason. He must have done or said something to piss her off.

"I didn't do anything that's not normal." Others helped him up but his nose was broken and bleeding.

"Since the motherfucker won't say the truth, I'll tell you. This pig here was touching me and tried hitting me because I rejected his pitiful excuse for an advance." She replied, looking at his bleeding nose and smiling to herself.

"Not as if you're even a virgin. That hole that countless dicks have already plunged into. You should be lucky someone like me even considered you."

Ayra's thread of patience snapped and she charged at him, landing a punch to his already injured face. A tooth fell out and he fell to the ground, holding his face.

Before Ayra could do more damage to the poor boy, Devin grabbed her hand and apologized to everyone before dragging her away. Since their house was not too far from the party arena, pulling an angry Ayra was quite easy.

"Leave me alone. I'm going to show that idiot never to mess with me."

"Can you shut up? I'm trying to think here. Why did you have to hit him? He just wanted a fuck." He groaned and opened the front door. Against her will, he continued pulling her upstairs to her room.

"Do I look like a cheap slut to you? If you don't want to have a taste of my fist, you had better let go."

"Maybe if you had just along with him and rejected him calmly, it wouldn't have escalated like this. What's your problem?"

He pushed her to the wall of her room after they had gotten there. His body pressed against hers, their heat intermingling. His eyes darted to her protruding fair breasts but only for a second or two before his gaze fell on her fiery red orbs.

"Devin, get away from me." She warned casually, trying to push him away.

"One more word and I'll kiss you." He threatened but she scoffed.

"Like you'd---"

He didn't let her finish her statement before slamming his lips on hers, his tongue consuming all parts of her mouth. Ayra's eyes shot wide open but it didn't take long before she reciprocated, kissing him back with the same frequency.

Her hands instinctively circled his neck, making the kiss deeper, while his hand grabbed her waist, pulling her closer to him.

Their tongues rolled and played in their mouths, each fighting for dominance.

Devin's hand trailed down her perky arse, grabbing them softly, earning him a low, soft moan from Ayra. It was heaven on earth, an ethereal feeling bubbling in their stomachs.

Devin pulled away for some seconds, watching her flushed face. Her hair had fallen all over her face. After tucking some strands behind her ear, he engaged her in another breathtaking kiss. This time, he was in control.

He pinned her hands on the wall above her head, exploring every corner of her mouth. He diverted to her neck, raining kisses on it. His lips trailed down to her shoulder, slowly and sensually approaching her breasts.

"Devin..." She moaned when he let go of one of her hands to grab her right boob. Her core ached with need, her arousal heavy in the air. He squeezed on it gently while enveloping her in a less dominant kiss this time.

"This is wrong, Ayra." His voice was soft, the moon's light invading the room gradually through the open window.

"We're supposed to be siblings. This was a mistake." He pulled away from her, both panting as though they had just run a marathon.

"This should never happen again." His voice was void of emotions and he stepped out of her room, closing the door behind him.

'I thought kissing her would take this feeling away. Why is my need for my step-sister growing stronger by each minute?'

She took her hand from his and hugged herself. It was very cold out there and as always, she had forgotten to go out with her sweater. Clarence immediately pulled off his own and draped it over her shoulders. “You're kind, funny, sweet, stubborn, and not swayed by public opinions. You're beautiful and talented. You're not just someone I like being around, you're someone I can't imagine being without.” He replied to her question. Ayra grabbed the jacket like her life depended on it. “I’ll see you tomorrow?” She said, still unsure if she’d see him. “Sleep tight, babe.” Before he could hold himself, he took her lips in his, slowly and passionately kissing her. She didn’t resist, she didn’t push him away. She just melted away, not because he kissed her but because it reminded her of the first time she and Devin kissed. When was she ever going to forget about him? He finally let her go and turned his back to leave. Ayra approached the porch, staggering a little bit because of the col

Ayra couldn’t understand Devin's anger concerning money and her job. He wasn’t supposed to care what she did or how she did it. They were supposed to be strangers who wouldn’t dream of walking on the same path. She couldn’t deny that her heart dropped to her stomach when she saw how devastatingly handsome he looked. Even after he had left, his voice continued ringing in her head. “I want you to quit that job and stay home. If you need anything, call me.” He sounded so romantic and almost possessive. But she knew better than to fall for it. He had a girlfriend now, one whom he had probably turned over a million times..She shook her head and slapped her cheeks with both palms. “I need a boyfriend.” She told herself. As if the universe heard her, Clarence walked through the door and when he saw Ayra, he flashed a charming smile.“Oh, I want to hold that man and kiss him all night long.” Jane, her colleague, said dreamily and almost slipped because her focus was on Clarence. “Right?

The calm in the storm… that was the perfect way to explain Ayra's life. After her closure with Devin, they started avoiding each other like the plague. Whenever she went to morning exercises, they never spoke. Nobody truly knew what was going through their heads, not even Selene. “Why don't you try giving love a chance?” Selene brought up the topic one early morning while they were jogging around the premises of the training arena. “Why do I need to do that? Besides, nobody likes me.” She said dismissively and hoped she’d drop it, but knowing Selene, that was just the beginning. “Are you blind or something? Have you seen the eyes Clarence looks at you with? They’re screaming I WANT YOU!” She exclaimed and giggled, nudging her playfully. Ayra's eyes wandered around and caught Clarence staring at her. He was hot and girls were fawning all around him but her past situationship still had her feeling down. She and Devin were now like strangers. It had been like three weeks sinc

The word 'girlfriend' burned her throat like strong alcohol. Her gaze on Devin was intense, almost hostile. She only looked away after she had said her mind and after the prayers, they started eating. All focus was pushed to Devin and his new girlfriend. Questions about how they met and how they got together and their plans, as though they were already getting married. Every part of the conversation burned Ayra to a crisp. She thought she could stand them till dinner was over but she had already had enough. She decided to tune herself out. "So, what will you do if you eventually find your mates? The mate bond is...eh...complex." Killian asked. Isla yawned and wished the dinner would just end. Like Ayra, she wasn't interested in her brother or his girlfriend. "I believe we're meant to be. If we weren't, we'd have each found our mates by now. Right, Devin?" She sweetly nudged him and he nodded curtly. Satisfied with their answers, Killian shifted to Isla. "How about you, Isla? How's

It had already been two weeks since Devin last came home. He would call his father and stepmother and Isla too but never for once in those two weeks did he call or text Ayra. She was heartbroken and distorted for those two weeks. She would always stare at her phone or the door, waiting for when he would show up but he never did. She didn’t need a soothsayer to tell her she had been dumped. After everything, she ended up being a ‘fuck'. For all she knew, he could have been sleeping with several girls for those two weeks. Ayra felt used and wasted. She regretted everything that had transpired between them and wished she could turn back the hands of time. She was reliving a terrible experience and it haunted her even at night. She had lost the ability to sleep and was depending on sleep-inducing drugs. She even stopped reading because they reminded her of some bitter memories. She wished she could have the past three weeks erased from her head. Because she was gradually losing it.Af

“And we are home.” Ayra scurried out of the car and ran to the house, hoping she’d run into her mother. She had missed her calls throughout the trip and couldn’t wait to see her. Unfortunately, Helen was not back from work. Nobody was home. She was disappointed but it didn’t last long because Devin was there. While he helped her take her bag upstairs, she trailed behind him, admiring his masculine features. Tall, broad-shouldered, and full of muscle. Their trip was nothing short of exceptional, filled with several twists and turns, but she was glad they made it back, alive and healthy. And definitely, more than step-siblings. “It’s good to be back.” She said and stylishly closed the door after Devin had entered. “Yeah…” He drawled. “Now, I've got to go see the Alpha.” He said tiredly. He wanted to rest but this was also important. He could rest all he wanted later. “Do you have to?” She whined and poked his chest before crossing her arms around his neck. “Nobody's home right n
