Her mind erupted with an eminent desire between her legs. She struggled to keep her cool but was failing woefully when his left hand circled her waist, pressing against the wound that was still healing.

"Ouch! Do you want to kill me?" She shoved his face and his hand away and stood up, walking far from him.

If only he knew how jittery he made feel whenever she was close to him...

"I would never do that, Ayra." He walked after her.

"By the way, Ayra is for my friends and family. You can call me Jasmine." She sighed, looking at both sides of the road, hoping to see a car that would pass through.

"Jasmine? That's too long." He cocked a brow and stood in front of her, his gaze intently on her.

"Can I call you Mine instead?"

She stopped breathing for like ten seconds. Why did he sound like he was flirting with her?

"That's too personal. It's pronounced 'min' with an 'e'. Not Mine or whatever you call it." She turned her back to him, giving him a full view of her curvy waist and round arse.

The strong need to feel them overwhelmed him but he resisted the pull and looked away.

"How old are you anyway? Sixteen?" He asked, trying not to look at her body.

"Urghh! That's it!" She faced him angrily, pointing her index finger at him. "I am not a little girl anymore, okay? I'm tired of you seeing me as one. I'm fucking twenty-one. If you cared, you'd actually know. And also, I'm not your sister. I don't want to be your sister anymore. Period!" She crossed the other side of the road after ranting.

She wanted to be something more to him, more than just a little girl or his sister.

"If you don't want to be my sister, will you be my girlfriend?" He yelled across to her but she only ignored him.

If only he knew she would accept if he was serious about it, but no, a playboy like Devin could never be serious about a serious thing as a relationship. He only toyed around with girls like his playthings.

"How did I get caught up in this mess?"

Luckily for them, an empty cab was passing by and they were taken to the pack.

Being bloody messes earned them stares from the pack members but that didn't bother them. All they wanted was to get cleaned up. Luckily for them, nobody was around to question them and they each went to their rooms and changed.

Something didn't sit well with Devin. He didn't notice they were going to be attacked. How did Ayra know?

When it was time for dinner, they all gathered around the table. Devin intentionally sat next to Ayra, despite her unwilling glare. There was something he wanted to find out.

"How did you know we were going to get ambushed?" Devin asked out of the blue, causing her to choke on her drink.

"Easy there," He rubbed her back gently while she coughed it out.

"Since when did you two become close?" Isla, Devin's sister, asked. She gave them a knowing look while picking on her food.

"Don't tell me you actually like her, Devin."

"Isla... Table manners." Their dad, Killian, interrupted her. She rolled her eyes and ate her meal quietly.

"So, Ayra, how was your stay with your grandmother?" Killian asked, turning his gaze from the sulking Isla to a flushed Ayra.

"Well," She cleared her throat. "It was the best four years of my life. She and her friends are amazing. I almost didn't want to come back."

"I see. I'm sure you missed home very much." Her mother remarked, smiling from ear to ear.

"Missed home? You've got to be kidding me. What's there to miss about this place? I only came because Grandma threatened to push me out of her place. Why would I want to come back here?" She scoffed. The older couple glanced at each other briefly before eating their food.

"It's not like anybody here missed you. I don't even see the difference since when you were not around." Isla smirked, hoping to get a reaction from Ayra that would make her look bad.

"Must you answer to everything that happens around me? Or you're just not creative enough to come up with your own." Ayra gave a loop sided smile, seeing how furious Isla looked. The two had always been at loggerheads with each other.

When they were younger, Isla's father always attended to Ayra's needs, almost neglecting his own daughter. And that was why Isla hated Ayra and could never accept her. She didn't want her father's love to be shared with any other person in the pack, not to talk of a stranger.

"Devin, Dad, aren't you going to say anything? She's clearly insulting me." She glanced between the both of them.

"Well, if you had just kept your opinion to yourself, she wouldn't have insulted you. Would she?" Devin asked and pinched Ayra's open lap.

"Answer my question," He whispered but she resisted him.

"Leave me alone!" She yelled at him, picked up her plate, and stood up.

"I don't want to be the reason for disunity in your family. I'll be in my room. Enjoy your family dinner." She mused a small smile and headed to the staircase.

"Training is at six thirty in the morning. Don't be late." His voice was low and gruff. How dare she resist him? She was acting like a total bitch. At first, he liked it but now, it was only getting on his nerves.

"Whatever." She replied nonchalantly, making his jaw tick with anger.

After Ayra had changed into her transparent nighty, she settled on her neatly arranged bed, sulking. She kept the food aside and laid down. Day one and she had already gotten into a fight with almost everybody in the house. At first, she felt good about it. But now, she just felt alone.

'I don't need them. I've got myself.' She reassured herself before sleep took over her entire being.

.

Ayra was at the peak of her sweet sleep, enjoying the early morning breeze when Devin's voice invaded her dream.

"Ayra!" He yelled through the mind link. She groaned and sat up, glaring at him.

"What is it? Why are you disturbing my beauty sleep?" She yelled, throwing the duvet aside.

Her perky breasts pointed at him but in her fury, she didn't notice.

"Can't a girl get a nice rest around here anymore?"

"I told you training is six thirty. It's almost seven. What is your problem?" His voice wasn't as soft as yesterday when he was speaking to her at the diner and after their attack. She really pissed him off the previous night.

"I heard you and I'm coming. You don't just barge into a girl's room and yell in her head. Sheesh! Who trained you?" She rolled and as she wanted to lie back, that was when she remembered her nightwear was transparent.

She gasped and covered her chest with her hands.

"Don't flatter yourself. Those don't mean anything to me. Get your arse out for training. The next time I come back here, you won't like it." He ordered and stepped out.

"Fuck!!" He growled lowly, not wanting to attract attention from his family.

"Those boobs..." He could already feel his palms wrapped around them, caressing them softly. Her flushed face flashed in his mind.

"What am I even thinking?" He smacked his head before leaving the house.

"Seriously? They don't mean anything to him?" She grumpily got out of bed and had a short bath before putting on a sports bra and a pair of leggings. She raced downstairs, only to meet her mother in the kitchen. She quietly grabbed two cans of water and wanted to slip out but was caught.

"Ayra?" Helen called out, cleaning her hands with a kitchen towel. Ayra sighed and looked at her mother for some seconds before walking away.

Helen held her chest as her tears fell freely, sobbing uncontrollably.

"She probably hates me now."

You're not her boyfriend. Or are you? There was something about that question that put Devin on the edge. He growled, biting back the urge to disconnect Clarence's head from his neck. It would raise the people's suspicions but who says accidents don't happen? "Listen, I might not like you but I like your sister, okay? It's nothing harmless." He raised his hands in surrender but that didn't soften Devin's hard gaze. Devin crossed his arms and sighed deeply. "I'm not against you liking her. Just try not to do anything crazy around her." He couldn't have her. She was his sister. And if he acted too overprotective, he was sure to get lost in it. "But for now, stay away." Devin annoyingly poked Clarence's chest before dragging Ayra away against her wish. "I told you he wasn't bothering me. Why do you have to be so overbearing sometimes?" She rolled her eyes. They were on their way home and he had let go of her hand. "You really don't want to be around that guy," Devin said dismissi

"I want to get a job." Ayra voiced out again but this time, lower. Like she was trying to convince herself that it was what she needed. "Why do you need a job?" Killian asked, his eyes not leaving his meal. Ayra watched how gracefully he ate. The former Beta of Grey Woods pack. He wasn't an old man in body, all thanks to his intensive training, but his face gave him away. "I'm tired of staying cooped up in here all day. Plus, I need to support you on the house running. I can't be a freeloader forever." She asserted. In her mind, she wasn't asking for their permission. She just wanted to let them know that it was what she had set her mind to do. "But Ayra, this is your home. You don't need to do that." Her mother chipped in with Killian nodding in agreement. "I want to." She replied firmly, clutching her fork, ready to stab the piece of steak before her. "It's fine. I think it's a good idea for you to have something to do. But you don't have to give us any money you make. This is

A deafening silence fell upon the large hall as Devin held onto Clarence's wrist, the two of them glaring daggers into each other's souls. The air surrounding all five of them was charged, and if one wasn't careful, they were sure to get electrocuted. "Devin, what are you doing here? How did you find us?" Ayra stood from her seat, her gaze not leaving Devin's death glare. She had almost forgotten the situation at hand. Even though Devin was angry, he still looked gorgeous. She liked how his hair fell over his face, adding to his charm. "Should you be asking me that? You disobeyed the Alpha!" He thundered, shifting his glare from Clarence to Ayra and then to Selene. The latter felt like shrinking into the ground. This was the second time Ayra was getting into trouble because of her. 'Oh no! What do I do?' Her eyes dilated frantically. 'This is all my fault.' "We're just out having fun. Nothing was going to happen." Her attitude was beginning to kick in. Her jaw ticked with anger on

"You fucked my brother?! How were you able----" Ayra's hands immediately went over her mouth to prevent her from speaking further. It would be weird if Selene was to find out she had seen her brother's nakedness. Selene, on the other hand, was feeling guilty. A part of her didn't want Ayra to know the truth but she knew it would hurt more if she were to find out from someone else. "I'm sorry, Ayra. I didn't mean to." Her eyes became dull and were full of sadness. "I just liked him and I thought we could be something. I didn't know I would only end up as 'just a fuck'." "Did he really say that to you?" Ayra asked and Selene slowly nodded her head, not able to meet her eyes. Ayra's heart skipped a beat ~ Just a fuck. If she were to push with her lewd thoughts and bring them to life, would he also think of her as such? She knew she wouldn't be able to deal with the heartbreak. "Well, my brother is not someone you should be bothered about. I'm sure there are lots of men out there d

It was very late at night when Devin got home after the incident. The unfortunate woman had already been buried. He could still hear the wails of the victim's family. He had been preoccupied with finding out what had happened and who would have tried to kill him. Unless it was the lady they had been targeting. Even so, he needed to find out who was behind the scheme. He reported to the Alpha who immediately stationed guards at the entrance and exit of the pack with the help of his gamma, Donnie. But it wasn't a guarantee that such would occur again. "You good?" Donnie asked. They had both alighted his car and was now leaning on the booth. "Yeah... I'm fine..." Devin's voice trailed off. From where he stood, he could see that Ayra's room light was still on. It was past 10. What was she doing awake? "If you say so." With that, Donnie disappeared into the night. He didn't stay far from Devin and could easily walk back. Frustrated and conflicted, Devin pulled out a beer from the bac

  • Let Me Go, Beta   Chapter~10

Devin stood in front of his wall, reminiscing on what had just occurred. Realizing how foolish he had acted, he hit his forehead several times on the wall till blood started trickling down his face. "She's your sister, you idiot." He reprimanded, angry at himself. He didn't know what Ayra would think of him from then. No matter how far he wanted to start from her, he still found himself getting closer. She wasn't his mate but she always found a way to crawl into his thoughts. He did well to hide it in front of others but not when he was with her. A knock came to his door and without waiting for a response, the person walked in. "Couldn't you at least wait for me to respond? What if I was busy?" He growled, glaring at the gamma of Grey Woods pack ~ Donnie. "Busy? In your house? Nah... You'd never." He casually strolled in, his eyes not leaving Devin's bleeding forehead. "Masochist, much?" Donnie reached for a seat and crossed his legs, staring at the photos beside him. He had alw
