I knocked twice before I heard movement from inside her condo.

The door opened a notch to reveal her face.

I realized with a sickening drop in my stomach that she looked even worse than Leon. And that was saying a lot.

Her blond hair was ragged and rough, heavy black bags under her eyes. Her face was puffed and swollen, her eyes red like she had done nothing but cry and cry these days.

My heart squeezed painfully, "Lilah," I whispered.

She took one look at me, and then at the bodyguards flanking my sides. Fear and terror washed over her face. She shook her head, tears spilling down her cheeks and then she moved to close the door.

"Delilah, please," I whispered, pressing my hand on the door.

"Leave me alone, Bianca," she whispered desperately, "I don't want anything to do with you or the mafia. Please!"
