Chapter 3 : The Secretary

Lewis' POV

After my encounter with that crazy lady, I went to a very stressful meeting with some sponsors.

Once it was over, I went to the store across the company to get some snacks to relieve my stress.

It was there that I bumped into that woman again.

This time our encounter was quite funny, as we were both fighting for a box of cookies.

I only intended to tease her for a bit before I gave her the cookies but she left without getting them.

I knew she wouldn't come back for them, so I left the store after getting what I needed and went back to my office.

After the day was done, I remembered that I had to check the interview forms for my secretary position.

I then made my way to the interview room to view the applicants forms.

Sarah, the interviewer, wasn't to leave work until I had checked them all, therefore she was present when I was checking the forms.

I glanced through the files uninterestedly until my eyes caught a familiar face.

I saw the form of the same lady whom I met downstairs and at the store.

"So she was rushing to get here". "Little miss doesn't know she just cursed her future boss out", I whispered to myself deviously.

"What was that Sir?", Sarah said.

Shit, I whispered too loudly.

"Nothing", I said curtly.

Not gonna lie,

I was really glad that she applied for the job.

She seemed so daring and yet so small.

Never had any woman looked me in the eye and talk back at me.

But she did it in a heartbeat.

A woman who was that daring was so attractive, and now I had a plan to keep her close to me, I thought to myself as I recalled how she fell on her butt.

I almost felt sorry but it was so funny that I forgot to apologize.

The way she sparkled in her dress as she walked, and how a bead of sweat formed on her forehead from running to the elevator was mesmerising.

I didn't think I'd see her again but fate was on my side as I saw her again at the store. I was only teasing her but she wasn't having any of it.

If fate allowed it, I would buy her a large box of those cookies, she looked like she was gonna cry when I didn't give them to her, but she stormed out of the store before I could give them to her. I really hoped to see her again. Now, here I was, with her form in my hands. Somehow she ended up back in my life and this time, I was going to keep her.

"I want this woman to be my secretary, no questions", I said to Sarah.

"Duly noticed sir, I would inform Miss Smith first thing tomorrow morning", she said curtly.

"No, phone her now and tell her to get here 9:00AM and I want it done in my presence", I said angrily to the petite woman.

"Yyy..ee.sss sir", she said, scared by my command.

"Make sure to sound as happy as you can", I said with caution.

She nodded and called Victoria and put the phone on loud speaker.

I listened quietly as she spoke to Victoria and for the first time, she sounded happy.

All the times I met her she was so mad, and I wondered how her smile looked and I really wanted to see it that instant.

After the conversation was over, I told Sarah to brief Vic on important points as my new secretary and afterwards, I left the office.

I had a good night's rest in a very long time, anticipating the arrival of my new secretary the following Monday.

I woke up happily and got dressed for work.

I put on my usual black suit and got some matte black dress shoes to go with it.

My tie was in my office and I was literally smiling at the thought of Vic fixing it for me.

I looked at myself in the reflection and saw that I was smiling. I was getting ahead of my myself and needed to be restrained.

I slapped myself and said : "Now now Lewis, she's your secretary.

"Don't get any funny ideas".

"You're probably just sorry because you were a jerk to her twice", I cursed under my breath and chased away the bad thoughts I was having about her.

I made my way to the company, anticipating the look Victoria would have on her face when she realises that I was her boss.

She looked like her eyes were gonna fall out of its socket. I used this chance to take in her appearance. She was dressed formally, with little makeup application that brought out her facial charms.

She had that look that made me want to protect her.

I couldn't wait to apologize for being a bastard to her, but I was waiting for the perfect time.

I didn't want it to seem like I was apologizing simply because I was her boss.

I left her to attend to my meeting with my right hand man and also my best friend Kaden.

He called her Vic which made her smile and I swear she turned pink. This made me angry and I fake coughed to interrupt their little moment.

"Jasmine tea in 5 minutes, Miss Smith", I annoyingly said as I pushed Kaden into the office.

I was about closing the door when I heard her little raspy voice say "Yes sir" and I shut the door.

Exactly 5 minutes later, there was a knock on the door, which I guessed was Vic.

She walked in with a tray and two cups of tea and dropped them on the table.

I thanked her and told her to come in when Kaden had left.

"What do you guys have to talk about that I shouldn't hear of", Kaden asked, feigning hurt.

"Knock it off Woods" I said to him.

Before he could reply, his phone rang and it looked like an important call because he suddenly stood up, ready to leave.

"It was a pleasure meeting you Victoria, or should I call you Vic?", he said, stretching his hand out to Vic who was hugging the tray in her arms.

"The pleasure is mine sir, and yes you can call me Vic", she said to him with a warm smile.

"I'll see you soon Mark", he said facing my direction.

They were both getting on my nerves with their romantic encounter.

"She didn't act that way with me", I whispered to myself.

"Please, call me Kaden, we'll be seeing each other more frequently, so we should drop the formalities", Kaden replied to her.

She nodded and he quickly exited the office.

Ready to follow suite, I stopped her in her tracks before she could escape from me.

"And where do you think you're going Miss Smith?".
