The day of days was finally upon us and I couldn't be any more nervous and restless. Arianne was to be pronounced not guilty by all means and I pooled my savings, alongside support from Grey, Jade, Camden, my parents and her family to get the best lawyer to defend her in court.
We were all seated and waiting in court for the hearing to begin. Arianne was brought in by the police in cuffs and her parents rushed to hug, kiss and hold her. After a couple minutes, we all sat still and the judge came out looking glum as they all do.
"All rise!" The bailiff exclaimed. We did and when the judge sat, we were told to as well.
27"Why did you agree to a relationship with River?" She asked me."He was nice and attentive then. And what does that have to do with anything?""Tell me about the relationship between you and Arianne Willows.""We're friends and her boyfriend is my best friend. I don't get why you're asking all these weird q–""Is that why you're covering up for her?""I am not covering up for her. River was a bad person who threatened and blackmailed people, who also killed his own step brother! He deserved what he got!" I agree, I let my emotions get the better of me there but I didn't give a fuck. I know it was wrong of me to lash out in the courtroom like that but the prosecutor kept throwing dumb questions at me and I couldn't help it."How are you so sure he killed his stepbrother?" She asked coyly, giving me a side look."I saw River punchi
28I don't know what exactly it was that I said that made everybody think I was responsible for Arianne's freedom. Everyone kept thanking me, weird."I still can't get over how amazing you were in the courtroom the other day." Jade complimented for the umpteenth time."I think I hear that every minute now." I rolled my eyes playfully at her. "You already said that twice today.""Yes, I know, but you have no idea how awesome it w– ow!""You okay?" I walked to her. She was
29Thankfully, there was no cause for alarm in this case. Jade's water broke and she went into labor about three to five minutes later.According to the explanation the nurse/midwife gave us, water breaking earlier than 32-37 weeks meant there was an infection or something was wrong somewhere or she was with more than one child. The many tests were carried out on her but they all came out negative; there was no infection and there was just one child in her womb. It just happened that her labor came really early. She'd been in the labor room for two
30Everyone was having fun at the get-together Jade and Jeremy threw to celebrate the birth of their children. The children were running all over the place playing, the ladies were inside chatting while the men were outside talking and drinking as well.Ding! Ding! Ding!We all looked towards the sound to see Jade hitting a spoon on a champagne flute lightly with Jeremy right beside her. Everybody dropped their conversations and walked inside the house and we all focused on her immediately."I'd like to thank all of you for taking time out of your bus
31Jade walked in carrying a duffle bag on her hand. She dropped it off and let out a tired sigh. She looked up and"Oh my God, you guys scared me. What are you doing?""Oh hi Jade. We were just talking about getting Arianne getting a job now that River isn't around to sponsor everything anymore.""Oh!""Why are you here? Shouldn't you be with Jeremy and my godchildren?" I teased.
32Remy and Riley had been my favorite people since their birth. I literally couldn't spend a whole day without seeing them, I'd gotten so used to them."Make sure to not overfeed them like last time, one bottle only." Jade warned as she packed her stuff in her backpack."What do you mean like last time?" She rolled her eyes and turned to me."You know very well what I mean. Last time I left them with you, you overfed them and they had indigestion and couldn't sleep. It was me running around and not you, so be careful this time around and don't give each of th
33The door opened and in walked Jade looking tired and carrying a couple of grocery bags on her shoulder. Grey immediately ran to help her as I set down Riley who I just fed in her fancy baby seat. Thankfully, she was really into her food so the feeding wasn't messy at all, unlike the last time. The awful last time, I actually didn't know how to properly feed children and Jade wasn't in so I just went with my instinct. I mixed a lot of baby milk in warm water, turned it in the baby bottle and fed them. They didn't seem to like it though as they were always pushing the bottle out of their mouths by themselves forcefully, causing a big mess of milk on their faces and outfits. It was more my fault than theirs though so I didn't blame them.I already did my research and read up on how to properly feed babies; I'm now a professional babysitter and godmother. Show me anybody else who can do it
I had gone as far as two lines ahead of my introductory paragraph and I couldn't feel any less proud of myself. I know, it wasn't much progress but I was still happy I'd gotten that far because it was hard as hell; coupled with the hurricane in my head. Honestly, I had a lot on my mind and I couldn't help it.There was Arianne's case which we still didn't know the final verdict, all we knew was that she was free on trial to be back for the final verdict. Then there were the twins, Jade was still weak from childbirth and had to catch up on her education so I had to help with taking care of them. I also had to think up what to write in my stupid article.See? I couldn't help but celebrate my progress, they say celebrate your little wins, right? The twins were also part of my inspiration; their occasional smiles and bright big eyes motivated me to write the next line.Suddenly, I felt eyes on me. It was really creepy and weird because
