“Not like my brother wouldn’t have told you anyway. I’m guessing that you, too, have questions for me. Why not go ahead?” she said.

Kenyon looked at her as if he didn’t know what to say, especially now that she had called him out.

That’s when a booming voice came out of nowhere and could only belong to no other than her father, Alpha Mick, who broke the silence and tension that was going on between them.

“Come on, you two, it’s time for dinner,” Alpha Mick’s voice boomed once more.

“Coming, Daddy,” Lilly sang out, turning to pick up her violin case. She told Kenny, “Well, you can ask me later when you work out what it is you want to ask me, but in the meantime, we need to head back to the dining hall.”

With that, Lilly took her violin case into her arms, hugging it like it was her only friend. This was how she probably felt most days, but even more today.

Lilly and Kenyon walked side by side towards the dining hall, an awkward silence hanging between them. As they entered, the chatter of pack members filled the air, but Lilly could still feel the weight of curious glances directed her way.

At the head of the long table sat her father, Alpha Mick, his imposing figure commanding respect even in this casual setting. Her mother, Luna Harmony, sat beside him, her gentle smile contrasting her mate's stern expression.

Lilly took her usual seat next to her brother while Kenyon moved to sit on Luka's other side. Lilly could feel her father's gaze as the food was served.

"So, Lilly," Alpha Mick began, his deep voice cutting through the dinner conversation. "I hear we had a visitor at school today. An Alpha in training from another pack?"

Lilly replied, “Yeah, we did. His name is Alpha Axel Blackthorn. He seems alright and was impressed by my violin-playing skills.”

Lilly had done her best to keep the conversation as casual as possible. Her mind and body were still in turmoil, and she didn’t feel like playing another round of 20 questions, especially with her father.

Just then, a familiar voice she had gotten to know today came from behind her mother, Luna Harmony. The voice made both her brother Luka and Kenny look up. Yup, it was Axel, and now more than ever, Lilly wanted to crawl away and hide in the peace of her room.

Lilly's heart skipped a beat as she heard Axel's voice behind her. She turned to see him standing there, looking every bit the powerful Alpha he was, yet somehow managing to appear both confident and respectful in the presence of her father.

"Good evening, Alpha Mick, Luna Harmony," Axel said, bowing his head slightly. "I apologise for the intrusion, but I wanted to thank you for your hospitality in allowing me to visit your pack and school."

Alpha Mick stood, his imposing figure towering over the table. "Alpha Axel," he acknowledged with a nod. "We welcome you to our pack. Please, join us for dinner."

As Axel sat across from Lilly, she could feel the energy in the room shift. The other pack members were watching intently, curious about this visiting Alpha, who seemed to have caught their attention. The mood changed when Alpha Axel sat with the pack leaders at the head table. It wasn’t very unusual for a visiting Alpha to join them, but pack members turned to their pups, asking them questions regarding the matter, and that’s when the whispering and random stares aimed at Lilly began. How quickly people's options can change at a moment’s notice.

Kenny became noticeably uncomfortable and began pushing his food around his plate, which was very much out of his charter, as he was usually the first to finish and look for seconds.

Also, to make matters worse, the she-bitches, Kendra and her besties, are on their way to top it all off.

Lilly felt her stomach tighten as Kendra and her friends approached the table. The last thing she needed was more drama, especially in front of her parents and Axel.

"Alpha Mick, Luna Harmony," Kendra said sweetly, her voice dripping with false respect. "We just wanted to congratulate Lilly on her amazing performance in music class today. And to welcome our distinguished visitor, of course."

Lilly could feel Axel's eyes on her, but she kept her gaze fixed on her plate, pushing her food around as Kenny did.

"Thank you, Kendra," Luna Harmony replied, her tone polite but with an underlying note of suspicion. "That's very kind of you to say."

Alpha Mick's eyes narrowed slightly, sensing the tension. "Yes, well, we're proud of Lilly's accomplishments. We’ve already enjoyed seeing her performance as Mr. Song so kindly recorded it. Unsurprisingly, she played so elegantly this morning as she has been preparing for the world violinist championships.

‘Shit, so he probably already seen Axel kiss my hand as well. I doubt Mr. Song remembered to stop recording shortly after I stopped playing. Fuck,’ Lilly thought to herself.

Thinking that she had won, Kendra turned her attention to Luka.

“Luka, what do you make of all this? After your sister’s performance today, she stole the limelight from you,” trying to pretend she was sweet as honey.

Luka saw right through him and replied, “Why should that bother me? It was nice to have at least a few minutes of peace. Now I know why my sister likes to stay as far away from it as possible. Besides, she earned it, so just like every other time she has won a competition, it was from her hard work, not just because she’s an Alpha’s daughter.”

Kendra's smile faltered momentarily, caught off guard by Luka's response. She quickly regained her composure, but the damage was done. The other pack members at nearby tables had overheard, and whispers began to spread.

Axel, who had been quietly observing the exchange, spoke up. "I must say, the talent in this pack is truly impressive. Not only is Lilly an exceptional violinist, but I've heard great things about your leadership, Luka. It's clear that both of you have inherited your parents' strength and wisdom."

"It's not your fault," Lilly interrupted, wiping at her tears. "You can't be responsible for her actions."Axel took the place on her other side, his presence a solid comfort. "We'll fix this somehow. The competition, the violin, we'll find a way."The three sat in silence for a moment, their bond humming between them like a tangible thread. The phantom sensation had settled into a steady pulse, their proximity easing some of the raw edge of Lilly's grief."I keep thinking about what Elder Gideon said," Lilly finally whispered. "About the darkness gathering. What if this is just the beginning? What if the prophecy means more challenges, more losses?""Then we face them together," Kenny said firmly. "Thr

"Don't be ridiculous," Amali scoffed, though guilt flickered briefly across her features. "It was an accident. Besides, it's just a violin. She can get another one."The room temperature seemed to drop as Alpha Mick stepped forward, his Alpha authority radiating outward in palpable waves. "That violin was a Riverwood heirloom, passed through five generations. Its value cannot be measured in mere currency."Amali's confidence faltered under her uncle's cold gaze. "I... I didn't know.""You knew," Alpha Blackthorn said unexpectedly, his voice carrying the weight of his own authority. "I myself commented on its historical significance after Lilly's performance."The alliance between the Alphas presented a

"I'm not implying anything," she replied calmly. "I'm stating facts. The mark I saw is associated with only one thing, a triad bond blessed by the Goddess herself." Her eyes were fixed on Lilly. "And given Kenny's very public rejection of Amali, and the way both he and that Blackthorn boy watch you when they think no one's looking...it's not difficult to connect the dots."Lilly felt her heart racing, torn between denial and relief at having someone else who understood. "Emerald, please...""I haven't told Amali," Emerald interrupted, her expression softening slightly. "Or anyone else. But Lilly, a triad bond? At your age? That's... unprecedented.""It wasn't exactly planned," Lilly said quietly, making her decision. Emerald had already figured out too much to be misled by half-truths. "It started to happen the day Axel arrived. The next morning, our wolves started to wake up, making our bond snap into place. We're still trying to understand it ourselves."Luka sighed, recognising the

Amali's smile faltered, her eyes widening slightly at Kenny's direct rejection. The room seemed to still around them, conversations dimming as heads turned toward the unexpected confrontation."Someone else?" Amali repeated, her voice carrying just enough to draw more attention. "You never mentioned anyone specific before. Who is she?"Kenny maintained his composure, though the phantom sensation on his finger pulsed with warning. "That's private," he replied firmly. "All that matters is that my feelings are engaged elsewhere, and it wouldn't be fair to encourage your attention."Lilly kept her expression carefully neutral despite Ruby's surge of protective pride. Beside her, Axel shifted almost imperceptibly closer, a subtle show of support that only she would notice.Amali's eyes narrowed, flicking between Kenny and Lilly with sudden suspicion. "Is it someone here? Someone in this room?""Amali," Emerald interjected smoothly, linking arms with her sister. "This isn't the time or plac

"There's my beautiful daughter," Alpha Mick said warmly as Lilly approached with Luna. "Alpha Ryan, you remember Lilly?""Of course," the Blackthorn Alpha replied with a smile that reminded Lilly strongly of Axel. "Your reputation as a violinist has reached even our pack. My son speaks highly of your talent."Lilly felt a flush of pleasure at the compliment, carefully keeping her eyes from seeking out Axel in the crowd. "Thank you, Alpha Ryan. Your son Axel is too kind."As they entered the dining hall, Lilly was acutely aware of multiple gazes following her, Emerald's curious, Amali's calculating, and somewhere in the crowd, Kenny and Axel's protective. She kept her chin high, moving with the grace her mother had taught her toward her assigned seat.

The Moon Rose on her nightstand pulsed gently, its silver-gold light a comforting presence. Lilly reached out to touch one delicate petal, drawing strength from its warmth."How am I supposed to handle a month of this?" she whispered to the flower. "A month of watching Amali throw herself at Kenny while pretending it doesn't affect me?"The Rose offered no answer, but the phantom sensation on her finger warmed reassuringly. Somewhere in the pack house, Kenny and Axel had returned, their presence a balm to her wolf's distress even from a distance.A soft knock at her door preceded Emerald's entrance. Unlike her sisters, Emerald had always been the kindest of her cousins, though still prone to the family's tendency toward ambition."H
