The council meeting had wrapped up just a little past noon and as everyone began rippling out of the room, I just stayed behind a few minutes to organize my notes and stuff them into my bag. When it was finally over and my stomach grumbled just in time to remind me that I hadn't eaten all day.

Today's the day, I thought to myself. I had a whole self-care plan lined up for the afternoon with some bubble bath, face mask, and maybe a K-drama marathon with a tub of ice cream.

Ugh! Just pure bliss and self-care.

When I was about to head down the hallway toward the exit when I saw Gabriel standing by the lockers across the hall from the council office while his hands were tucked into his pockets and looking effortlessly handsome in his casual look and his shirt rolled up at the sleeves.

He noticed me immediately.

"Sarah!" he called out with a faint smile.

I stopped in my tracks while caught a little off guard. "Oh, hey, Gab. What's up?"
