Kayla

"You're lying!" Chelsea groaned. I didn't say anything because I knew I wasn't.

The cars behind us started to honk like crazy. I didn't think this day could get any worse. Chelsea and I got out, standing by the side of the road in our high heels. In our tight, thin dresses, we looked like hookers.

We put our shoulders against the car and pushed. We strained until we finally got the heavy metal to the side of the road. Other cars just zoomed past us. Some drivers leaned out to scream insults as they went.

"How do we get out of here?" Chelsea asked. She looked like she was about to cry. "I have school tomorrow."

"Shit, that’s right," I muttered.

"We can order an Uber," I suggested, reaching into my pocket.

Chelsea looked at me like I was stupid. She held up her phone. "What do you think I've been doing? There’s nothing available for an hour."

"Don't take it out on me, Chels. We're in the same boat."

She pouted and her eyebrows pulled together. "I'm sorry. I just have a test and—"

I put a hand on her shoulder. "I know you're going to ace it. Now, let's just focus on waving down a car."

"I don't know how that's going to work with what we're wearing," Chelsea said, looking at her shimmery dress. She had a point.

The first car, a red convertible sped past us. Then, another sports car slowed down to a crawl.

The windows rolled down, "How much for the night?" the driver asked. He had a disgusting, smug grin on his face. The sheer audacity made my blood boil but I said nothing.

"What?" Chelsea sputtered. Her face turned bright red. "Are you insane?"

I pulled her away from the car. I wanted to keep the peace. "Let’s just ignore them. Chelsea, I think we should just walk."

"No," the driver said. He turned off the engine and stepped out. "Why would pretty ladies like you walk? We have plenty of room inside." He lowered his window revealing two other men at the back seat.

"Look," I said. "Except you have a tow or can order an Uber, there's not much you can do for us. You can go your way now."

The driver gave me a predatory look. I'm sure was much older than this kid. Who let their untrained child out without a leash. He killed the engine and opened the car door.

Chelsea pulled me towards her, "let's go, we'll come back for the car," she whispered. I was all for the idea before the driver moved right into my personal space.

He smelled like expensive cologne and beer. He looked me up and down. "You can follow us. We'll drive you home."

"I’m sorry for bothering you, but we'll wait for a cab," I said. My voice was starting to shake. "We aren't sex workers. We'll be on our way now!"

His friends alighted too.

What have we gotten ourselves into?

Chelsea was fuming. She opened her mouth to scream something mean, but I clamped my hand over her lips. I looked the driver in the eye. "We're not going anywhere, don't make me scream."

Chelsea struggled against my hand, making muffled angry noises.

The driver’s face changed. The smug look was replaced by something nasty. "The only way you're leaving is in the car with us."

He reached into the back seat and pulled out a heavy golf bag. He tossed two clubs to his friends. Without saying a word, the first guy swung at our car. The passenger window exploded. Shards of glass flew everywhere like tiny diamonds.

"No! Stop it!" we screamed.

I didn't think. I just lunged at the driver and grabbed his arm. Chelsea swung her bag at another guy’s head.

The driver snarled. He slammed his elbow into my chest, knocking the air out of me. He shoved me with all his strength. I went flying and hit the pavement hard. My back thudded against the ground, and my palms burned as the rough road tore my skin.

"Stay down, bitch," he hissed. He stepped over my legs so I couldn't get up. "I'm going to have so much fun with you." He leaned down, and I could see the sick look in his eyes. "My car is so spacious for you and those curves."

I scrambled backward on my elbows, breathing fast. My heart was pounding so hard I thought it would burst. I backed up until I hit the cold, hard tire of my car.

Suddenly, Chelsea jumped on his back. She pulled his hair as hard as she could. "Get off her!"

The man didn't even care. He grabbed her by the waist and threw her off like she was a rag doll. She hit the ground even harder than I did. She groaned, curled up on the asphalt in her ripped dress.

He turned back to me and raised the golf club.

He stumbled backward when a pair of huge, bright headlights rounded the corner. A massive black SUV stopped right behind them, blinding us all with its lights.

Two other cars stopped behind the SUV. I recognized the convoy immediately.

Sirens wailed loudly and the excort cars opened to reveal some armed men. The door of the black SUV opened too.

The man who stepped out was dressed in an all black suit. He adjusted his cufflinks taking in the situation before him.

"Damien, Blackwood?" The driver stuttered. His voice was laced with fear. His companies literally froze in place.

The CEO of Blackwood Industries. My boss, Damien Blackwood was right here, in front of me.

"What is going on here?" He asked the men who now seemed to scared to talk.

"Umm, we were just--"

"Harassing these young ladies," he sized them up, "if this is how you conduct yourself and treat other people, I'm not sure I'll be doing business with your father anymore."

I almost gagged.

"No, please no." The driver was practically grovelling. "We're already in so much debt, we'll be ruined."

Damien scoffed, "Think about that before harassing defenseless women next time."

One of the security escorts cocked his gun and shot it in the air.

The driver practically peed himself.

KaylaThe drive to the penthouse was filled with a companionable silence, the kind that only exists when you've just shared something intense. I didn't want to talk; I just wanted to process everything. Once we were inside, I headed straight for the bathroom and took a long, hot shower. The girls could wait. After the flight I just had, and the way Damien had practically fucked my brains out in that private jet, I needed a serious refresher.I dressed in a chic, two-piece silk set that hugged my curves and slicked my hair back into a tight, high ponytail, secured with my favorite hair tie. I felt refreshed, but my body still thrummed with a low-level ache from earlier.I went to find Damien to let him know I was heading out, but I stopped when I saw him in his home office. He was hunched over his desk, focused on a stack of documents. I started to back away slowly not wanting to disturb him, when his voice cut through the air."Kayla?"I paused. "Hmm?""What's up? Come in!" He didn't

KaylaI was shifting in my seat. The leather felt hot against my thighs. The heat radiating from my body was making me dizzy, and I was literally squirming, trying to find some relief. Damien was still using the financial magazine high up to hide his face, but I could hear the faint sound of him chuckling. Is he mocking me?I was enraged. He was playing with me, and I wasn't going to let him win this round.I reached under my tennis skirt. I hooked my fingers into the lace of my underwear and slid them down my legs. When they reached my feet, I gave a sharp flick with my toe. Damien caught them mid-air. He lowered the magazine slowly, bringing the lace to his nose. He took a deep, lingering sniff, then looked at me and mouthed, 'What are you doing?'I didn't answer. Instead, I gripped the armrests and spread my legs wide for him to see. At first, a wave of shyness hit me—I was unsure of myself, wondering if I was being too much. But then I saw his eyes. They were hungry. He stared

Kayla I woke up to the soft sound of a zipper gliding shut. Squinting against the bright morning sun streaming through the floor-to-ceiling windows, I saw our suitcases standing by the door, perfectly packed and ready to go.Damien was already dressed in a crisp linen shirt, looking unfairly awake. He noticed me stirring and walked over, sitting on the edge of the mattress."Morning, sleepyhead," he murmured, leaning down to press a slow, warm kiss to my lips. He reached out, gently brushing a stray lock of hair away from my eyes. "How did you sleep?""Like I was drugged," I croaked, stretching my limbs. "In a good way.""Good. How’s the rib?" He didn't wait for my answer, sliding his hand under the silk sheet to find the spot. His fingers pressed against the bone. "Any sharp pain? Swelling?""It’s just a little dull ache now," I said, swatting his hand away playfully. "Stop poking me, Dr. Blackwood. I’m fine.""I'll be the judge of that," he teased, helping me sit up with a steady h

KaylaWe spent the entire afternoon in bed. After arguing for about thirty minutes about what to watch, we settled on something we both appreciate. F.R.I.E.N.D.S was blaring from the speakers. This was my family's comfort show. The only person who loved it more than me is Chelsea. "I’m telling you," I said, pointing a fork at the screen during a transition scene. "Ross is the actual villain of this entire series. He’s possessive, he’s whiny, and 'we were on a break' is the weakest legal defense in history."Damien leaned back against the headboard, his arm draped over my shoulders. He looking surprisingly invested for a man who usually dealt in hostile takeovers. "He isn't a villain, Kayla. He’s just a man who lacks basic communication skills. But Rachel? She’s the one who sabotaged every girl he dated because she couldn't decide if she wanted him or a career in fashion.""Excuse me? Rachel Green is an icon of self-actualization," I argued, nudging him with my elbow. "She went from

Kayla "Are you on the pill?" he asked, his voice low and raspy as he started to pull back, his breathing still heavy against my neck.I shook my head, my face flushed. "I... I stopped after..." I trailed off, the memory of my ex making my throat tight."Because of that idiot?" he asked, a dark groan vibrating in his chest. I simply nodded. He didn't say another word about it; he just pulled me into his arms, wrapping a discarded blanket around both of us as we settled onto the thick rug.We talked for a long time, then I looked up at his sharp jawline and whispered, "Do you cuddle all your girlfriends like this?"Damien looked down at me, his expression uncharacteristically soft. "I don't have girlfriends, Kayla. I just cuddle my wife."My heart nearly escaped from my chest at those words. ---The next few days were a blur. We got along better than we ever had. At some point, it felt like we were making dangerously like a real connection. We fucked in almost every room, from the ma

  • Loathe by the Billionaire    Chapter 82

Kayla We laid down on the thick, designer rug with the bottle of wine. The glass pane in front of us made it feel like we were floating over the ocean. The wine was crisp, and the silence of the mountain was addictive. I could get used to this. "You know," I said, taking a long sip and looking around at the smoothed stone walls. "I still think the modern cave thing is just a way for you to avoid ever actually touching dirt. You're like a high-tech hermit."Damien chuckled, leaning back on one elbow. "I touched plenty of dirt getting you up that trail, Kayla. Give it a rest.""I'm just saying! Most people have a tent. You have recessed lighting and a wine fridge. It’s a bit much, don't you think? It’s very 'I have a yacht and I’m not afraid to use it' energy.""Is that so?" He turned his head, his dark eyes narrowing with a dangerous glint. "You’re yapping a lot for someone who was gasping for air twenty minutes ago.""I was experiencing the mountain," I teased, waving my glass. "And

Kayla "So, have you decided?" Damien asked. He made it sound like we were choosing a font for a PowerPoint slide. He pushed a breakfast sandwich and a steaming cup of coffee toward me. I stared at the food. My stomach gave a loud, traitorous growl. I hadn't eaten a thing since yesterday, and takin

Kayla "If I was even considering this insane idea of yours," I said, my voice rising as I gestured to the papers, "how would the child even get here? Because as you can see, I'm not Mary. There’s no immaculate conception happening in this office." Damien let out a low, dark laugh. He stepped close

Kayla I choked on my saliva coughing hard. Damien went into full panic mode. He rubbed my back in small circles till the coughing had reduced. Once I could breathe again, I looked at him like he was a ghost. "Repeat that thing you just said," I wheezed. "Please tell me I heard you wrong." Damie

Kayla A loud knock woke me up. At first, I thought the sound was just part of a dream. I scrambled out of bed and checked my alarm. It was past 8:00 AM. "Shit," I whispered. I had slept like a log. After the nightmare I went through, my body had just shut down. I jumped up and ran to the door. I
