Maya stepped into her apartment and gently closed the door behind her. The quiet click echoed through the empty space, reminding her of just how peaceful—yet lonely—this place could be. She dropped her keys into the ceramic bowl by the entrance and let out a soft sigh.

Her time at the Denovan home had been warm and full of emotion. Laughter, hugs, home-cooked meals, and the joyful discovery of a family she never knew she had. It all felt like something out of a dream.

But now, she was back to reality.

Earlier that morning, her parents had tried to convince her to stay.

“You don’t have to go,” Mrs. Denovan had said, holding Maya’s hand tightly. “This is your home.”

Colton added with a teasing smile, “Come on, sis. What’s the rush? Stay a few more days.”

Even Anika had begged her to stay. But Maya had gently smiled and shaken her head.

“I just need a little time,” she said softly. “I’m not ready yet. I want to figure things out before the world finds out I’m your daughter.”

  • Longing For My Ex-Wife   Between Love and Longing

The estate was alive with movement that afternoon. Maids scurried through the hallways carrying trays of flowers, bolts of fabric, and polished silverware. Laughter and chatter mingled with the crisp sound of footsteps across the marble floors. The Denovan home had become a beehive of activity in preparation for Maya’s announcement party, and the energy filled every corner.Elias arrived quietly, his car rolling into the driveway like a shadow against the grand house. He stepped out with his usual poise, the faint breeze ruffling his dark hair as the butler hurried forward to greet him. Inside, he first sought out Maya’s parents.“Good afternoon,” he said warmly, bowing his head slightly in respect.Mrs. Denovan smiled, putting aside the fabric she had been reviewing with a maid. “Elias, what a surprise! You should have told us you were coming.”“I couldn’t resist,” he admitted. “I wanted to see how everything was going.”Before Mr. Denovan could respond, a shriek of delight broke acr

  • Longing For My Ex-Wife   A Battle of Pride

The polished glass doors of the grand boardroom swung open as Grandma Carter stepped in, her heels clicking against the marble with a rhythm of authority. Behind her, her assistant followed quickly, carrying her leather bag with both hands as though it contained treasure.Every head turned. The long conference table was already filled chairmen in crisp suits, CEOs with folders stacked neatly before them, and at the far end, Mr. Tyler, the group president, sat with his usual stiff dignity.“Madam Carter,” several voices greeted in unison. She gave a faint smile, lifting her chin. “Gentlemen.”No one dared to comment on her lateness. It was already an unspoken rule: she could arrive when she wished. Wealth wasn’t the only thing she carried; it was influence, respect, and a sharp tongue capable of cutting anyone who tried to challenge her.Her assistant carefully set her bag by her seat, and Grandma Carter dismissed him with a flick of her hand. She lowered herself into the chair, her ga

  • Longing For My Ex-Wife   Whispers at the Dinner Table

Isabella pushed open the door to their modest home, letting the familiar scent of simmering stew and garlic wash over her. Her shoulders sagged with relief…it had been a long day at the company, balancing schedules, arranging files, and, of course, trying not to notice whenever her boss, Colton Denovan, glanced her way.Almost as soon as she stepped in, the clatter of utensils came from the kitchen. Their mother was setting the table, carefully spooning rice into bowls. At that same moment, the front door banged behind her, and Lily bounded in, her school bag barely hanging onto one arm.“Food! Finally!” Lily cried, dropping her bag in the hallway and running to the dining table.“Not so fast, young lady,” their mother scolded. “You’ve been running about all day in that uniform. Go and bathe before you sit here.”Lily groaned dramatically, already pulling a chair out. “Just one bite, Mama. I swear I’ll go after that.”“Not even one grain of rice,” her mother said firmly, shooing her a

Maya leaned back in her office chair, tapping her pen against the polished desk. For once, her schedule was light. No clients pressing in, no endless phone calls. A rare luxury. The announcement party loomed ahead, and she wanted a little time to herself before the chaos swept her up completely. She picked up her phone and called her assistant. “I’m rounding up for today. Handle everything that comes in. I trust you.”“Yes, Ma’am,” her assistant replied eagerly.Maya gathered her purse and slipped on her sunglasses. As she walked through the corridor, her staff greeted her warmly, bowing slightly as she passed. Maya returned polite smiles. She was still getting used to this respect the way her name carried weight now but she carried herself with calm dignity. Her car gleamed under the sun as the valet brought it forward. Sliding into the driver’s seat, Maya started the engine and exhaled softly. Today wasn’t for boardrooms or apprentices. Today was for her.She headed toward a nearby

Colton sat behind his desk, loosening his tie after the long meeting. His office smelled faintly of coffee and paper, the kind of scent that followed endless hours of work. He rubbed his forehead and leaned back in his chair. The meeting had been productive but exhausting, and the silence of his office felt like a welcome reprieve.Just as he reached for a file, his phone buzzed. He frowned when he saw the caller ID his mother. He answered immediately.“Mother,” he greeted.“Colton,” came her cheerful tone. “How are you, dear? Busy as always, I imagine.”Colton pinched the bridge of his nose. “Meetings all morning. I’m still alive, if that’s what you’re asking.”“Awww,” Mrs. Denovan’s warm voice filled his ear, though there was an edge of excitement in it. “I trust your meeting went well?”“As well as meetings can go,” he replied dryly. “Why are you calling me at this hour?”There was a pause, then a chuckle. “Must I always have a reason to call my son? But since you ask… I wanted to

  • Longing For My Ex-Wife   An Old Friend, A New Spark

For weeks, Lena had stayed hidden in her room. The walls felt safer than the world outside, even if they suffocated her. She had not stepped into her office, nor visited her usual haunts. Every sound, every shadow reminded her of whispers she imagined people would say behind her back. But that morning, something shifted. Perhaps it was the silence of the empty house or the hollow ache of loneliness, either way, Lena finally dressed and left her room. Her reflection in the hallway mirror startled her. The once-glossy waves of her hair were gone, cut bluntly into a bob. It was shorter on one side than the other, uneven from her rushed attempt to change her image. It didn’t matter. She told herself it was a fresh start.Descending the stairs, Lena’s heels clicked softly against the polished wood. The nanny, folding laundry nearby, immediately rushed forward.“Miss Lena, do you need anything?”Lena shook her head. “Where’s Jamie? And Daniel?”The nanny smiled kindly. “Mr. Daniel took Jami
