Clarissa's eyes didn't blink at Adimasta who was sitting next to her. She wanted to laugh! It turned out that Adimasta had the same fate as her, was invited to a social event, then given free time to get acquainted with the children of the mothers. It could be that Adimasta was also a victim of coercion to get a mate or an arranged marriage at a moment like this, right?
"Why are you dumbfounded? Sit down." Adimasta patted the chair next to him asking Clarissa to sit down.
Clarissa obeyed, immediately she sat down. And immediately she leaned closer to Adimasta and whispered, "How many times have you been invited to events like this? Why have I only seen you now? Have you ever been betrothed to, hmm?"
Adimasta looked at Clarissa. Beautiful. Very beautiful. This time her hair was light brown, which suited her perfectly. With a ponytail, Clarissa makes Adimasta was even more charmed.
Adimasta raised his glasses, then replied, "What do you mean? I don't understand. This is my first time coming. No. My mother asked to be escorted."
"Ooh??" Clarissa was not surprised that Adimasta had only recently joined the ragged women's event.
Clarissa stood back up. She whispered again to Adimasta, "Follow me."
Without asking why Adimasta stood up and followed Clarissa. Clarissa headed to the corner of the room, choosing a table with only two chairs, so she could sit alone with Adimasta. It was also good that this boy came, Clarissa didn't have to go along with the mothers' children.
Clarissa took an orange-flavored drink, one of her favorites. She took a few gulps, put the glass on the table, and looked at Adimasta who kept staring at her.
"Why are you looking at me? I'm not like those mothers, am I?" said Clarissa.
"No, absolutely not. I am just thinking. So, do you often come to this kind of event? To get a mate?" asked Adimasta.
"My mom. She is the keenest on offering me with her friends. She wants me to marry a successful businessman. It's scary." Clarissa answered while shaking her head.
Adimasta enlarged his lips. He felt funny looking at Clarissa’s expression.
"Haven't got a mate yet?" Idly Adimasta asked.
" I don’t want to get an arranged marriage. I came because I didn't want to keep fighting with my mom." Quickly Clarissa answered. "Then you?"
"One of the mothers over there is an old friend of my mother. My mother who's wearing the white dress." Adimasta turned his head towards the big table where the mothers were having talking and laughing.
Clarissa watched carefully to a woman with only one white shirt. Beautiful. Her face was gentle and very simple. Her appearance was so different than the others. Clarissa nodded after being sure to see Adimasta's mother.
"My parents never thought about matchmaking. It's up to their children to find a partner of their lives." Adimasta continued.
Clarissa suddenly had a crazy idea. Instead of her mother was complicated to find a mate for her, why not just Adimasta? Hey, wait a minute! Not real. Just a drama to get her mother happy. Clarissa smiled and leaked Adimasta.
Adimasta frowned. From that girl’s gaze, Adimasta knew that a nosy and ignorant aura was coming to attack.
"What are you doing?" asked Adimasta.
"Engagement ... How if, he is you?" Clarissa grinned.
"Hah?!" Adimasta widened his narrow eyes which were still not wide either.
"Yes, Di. Instead of going on and on, my mom is busy looking for a guy for me. Help me, okay?" Clarissa fiddled with her eyebrows.
Adimasta’s chest quickly instantly. It felt like Clarissa was asking him to be her boyfriend. The girl was so relaxed, there was no burden anyway at her. She was not even thinking about what she just said. Adimasta was so nervous. His face blushed slightly.
Adimasta's changing face made Clarissa laugh out loud. She quickly covered her mouth afraid that everyone would turn around at her.
"You. This relationship is not for fun." Adimasta neutralized the heart. Of course, he loved Clarissa, but not in this way that he would win over this pretty girl.
"So, you really don't want to help, huh?" Clarissa asked, frowning a little. Adimasta rocking.
"Pity me."
"If just for a lie, no, Clay. I love you. It's you want it, be my girl. How about it?"
"What? You wanna be my boy? Are you sure, you love me?! What a joke!! How handsome are you, huh!???" Clarissa leaked it with bulging eyes, both hands clenched into fists ready to punch Adimasta Cakradinata's smooth white face.
Suddenly a hand was waving in front of Adimasta's face. Adimasta stuttered. He was daydreaming, imagining that if he asked Clarissa as a girlfriend, there would be war.
"Dumbfounded again?!" Clarissa leaked Adimasta. "How?"
"No. Sorry," said Adimasta. Because in his mind, one lie would spread to the next lie and so on, and so on.
"You ... Unfaithful friend." Clarissa pouted.
Adimasta just smiled faintly. He reached for the available glasses, gulped until the contents of the glass were almost empty.
Until more than an hour later, Clarissa said goodbye to go home first. She reasoned there was an urgent task to be completed. Rosita couldn't force her daughter to stay. Adimasta watched Clarissa say goodbye to her mother and then leave the luxury restaurant.
Adimasta's heart overflowed with affection. Poor girl Clarissa. She needed attention and care. Her life looked fine, but there was an empty side of her.
"I'll try to get closer. I don't know how Clarissa will accept me. I don't know what it's going to be either." Adi's heart spoke. A subtle whimper again penetrated Adimasta's heart.

That day was Mr. Diaz's class again. Clarissa would still use the last strategy, arriving late. She wanted to see how the handsome young lecturer reacted. Yenny has entered the class first. Clarissa deliberately turned to the toilet first.
Yenny was very excited, the lecturer in Clarissa's class had not yet appeared. During the class, nobody can use their phone anyway, which made Yenny was upset. Yenny looked back and forth at the door, hoping that Clarissa would come out soon.
Nearly ten minutes of class was going, Clarissa appeared. As before, she casually entered the class. But this time, Clarissa greeted, not straight away.
"Hi, Mr. Diaz. Sorry, I'm late again." With a big smile, Clarissa waved at Diaz. Diaz's eyes immediately fixed on the girl. This time her hair was a bit normal, brown, though a little lighter.
"I have made it clear that no one should be late for my class." Diaz talked to the point.
"Sir, nature's call. I have a stomach ache. It can't wait, can it?" Clarissa reasoned.
Several friends were already giggling at Clarissa's behaviour. Diaz looked deeper into Clarissa's eyes. He could tell if someone was making it up or speaking the truth.
"Sir ..." "You lied, Miss. This time I just give you a warning. But the last warning. If you are late again, it's better not to come in, or even if you sit in class, I still consider you absent from my class." Diaz didn't want students to pretend to be friendly and make excuses if they weren't serious about their class.
"Ugh, so bad." Clarissa raised her eyebrows.
"This class is my responsibility. I don't want anyone to interfere with the smooth running of the class. I'm counting to ten you should be seated. Got it?" Diaz started to get angry with Clarissa's behaviour.
"Yeah, alright ..." Clarissa immediately looked for an empty seat. And before Diaz said the number ten, Clarissa was already seated. Right, on the Adimasta side.
Adimasta shook his head at Clarissa. Seeing Adimasta was staring at her, Clarissa stuck her tongue out at Adimasta, annoyed.
Diaz continued his class. He knew Clarissa wouldn't stop pranking the class. Because that's the nature of the girl. But Diaz is determined that before the semester ends, Clarissa would repent.
Meanwhile, Clarissa racked her brain again so she could approach the teacher. It wouldn’t be effective in class. Even though his handsome face was increasingly disturbing Clarissa's days.
"Aha!! College assignments, the boarding house!!" Another idea popped into Clarissa's head.
What was Clarissa's plan like? Would she get the teacher's attention?
That afternoon Clarissa deliberately wanted to meet Diaz after the lecture was over. Clarissa walked towards the lecturer's office hoping Diaz was there. The approach must be intensified. A few meters before reaching the office door, Diaz was seen walking out of it. Clarissa's smile widened instantly. Again, luck was on her side. And Diaz looked at Clarissa. Diaz was sure this quirky student was looking for him. He understood the gesture of the girl who wanted to approach him. "Good afternoon, Sir." Clarissa greeted warmly. She put on a sweet smile for the teacher to pay attention. "Good afternoon, Clarissa. Not going home yet?" Diaz asked. "I want to meet you first. Can I talk with you?" Clarissa asked back. "About what? I'm in a bit of a rush." Diaz answered while looking at his watch. "Oh, no. Are you?" Clarissa was disappointed. "I wait for my taxi. If you can be patient, tomorrow you can meet me at over two in the afternoo
Clarissa could understand if Yenny disagreed with her. Of course, just like any other friend, if they found out that Clarissa pursued their new teacher’s love, there would be sneers and sarcasm. But Clarissa was better to change her name if she would give up just because people saying. "Yenny, the first step I got my point, so I will just keep going. Hm? I'm sure I can melt the hearts of our lecturer." Clarissa patted Yenny's cheek. "Clay, it's better to focus on studying, you know. Don't think others. A lecturer, like Mr. Diaz, definitely wishes an elegant woman, not being silly, it's a little unclear like you, sometimes." Yenny's open mouth started to get out of control. "Whatever you wanna say. Today is the first step. Everything leads to a noble goal, side by side with the ideal man, that I hope. Why should I think differently? Challenges are natural, make the struggle more meaningful." Clarissa moved to pinch Yenny's nose. "Hey, keep your hand. Y
"Clay ..." That voice made Clarissa even more nervous. Calm, soft, and soothing. She used to hear a voice like this from her father. "Everything you've been through has taught you to be a strong girl. Rest assured of that." Clarissa was silent. So far no one had spoken to her like this. That the bad things that disappointed her, would make her be a strong person? "Without a father, you are now a grown woman. That's great. And ahead there is a future waiting. Be proud of yourself." Diaz continued. Clarissa wanted to cry loudly hearing those words. If Diaz was in front of her, she would probably hug him tightly. Clarissa felt her heart painful, but there was also a sense of calm creeping in there. She wanted Diaz by her side to calm her down. "I don't think so. I am just passing through my days. After high school, I am in college. I don't know how it will be, I don't know." Clarissa answered as if resigned to life. Diaz could feel Claris
Clarissa had just finished showering and changing. She wanted to charge her cell phone. When she took it out of the bag, there were several incoming calls from Adimasta. What was up with that guy calling? Was there anything important? Clarissa sent a chat because she had to fill in her cell phone energy. She asked why Adimasta was busy looking for her. Adimasta's reply came quickly. He asked if his workbook had been taken by Clarissa. Clarissa didn't feel it, but she'd check first. The phone was put back down and Clarissa opened her bag. The book was in the bag. It was tucked into the book Clarissa had borrowed. Clarissa was curious, what were the contents of Adimasta's book. She sat down at her table and began to flip through the pages of the book. Clarissa smiled. Neat, organized, systematic. Yes, it was Adimasta. A good boy, friendly, and intelligent. Unfortunately, in Clarissa's eyes, Adimasta looked like an indecisive and weak guy. It was the reason why
Annoyed, Clarissa got into her car. Why had to be Adimasta?! She wasn't really interested in him. But so far, Adimasta was one of the most pleasant friends for Clarissa. After Clarissa found out Adimasta's heart for her, she just wanted to stay away from the boy. Yenny who was sitting next to Clarissa knew her friend was really upset. Yenny was the same, didn't expect Adimasta to have feelings for a girl like Clarissa. In Yenny's eyes, Adimasta needed a calm, polite, and gentle girl. But the fact, was it real he loved Clarissa? It didn’t make sense in Yenny’s mind. "What are you angry about? It's Adi's business whether you like it or not. If it's not bothering your life, just let it be." Yenny calmed Clarissa down. "I want to be with Diaz, you know. I don’t care the others." Clarissa drove the car. When she was near the gate, she saw Adimasta on his motorbike. The boy stopped at the side of the road, making a call to someone. Yenny patted Clarissa on
"Honey, I'm really sorry. I've made you angry many times. But, I miss you, so much." Rosita spoke hoarsely. "Mam, I'll get you some warm water, okay?" Mrs. Tirah interrupted Rosita's words. "Yes, sure. Thank you," said Rosita. Mrs. Tirah left the room. She told Yenny to come in and sit in a chair not far from the door. Clarissa turned to Yenny. She waved to her friend. Yenny came over, stood by the bed, next to Clarissa. "This is Yenny, Mom. My best friend." Clarissa introduced Yenny. "Yenny, you must be a good girl. You can stand with my daughter’s behavior." Rosita looked at Yenny. "Mom, ugh," Clarissa snarled. "Clarissa, I know you're the most annoyed when I want to talk to you. Especially when it was about dating." Rosita turned her gaze to Clarissa again. What could Clarissa say? Even she was sick, Rosita still talked about arranged marriage. "I just want you to get a good man, your life will be okay then.
For three days Clarissa stayed with Rosita. After her mother's condition improved, Clarissa returned to her boarding house. But her communication with Rosita was more intense. Clarissa wanted to make sure her mother would be alright. Yenny was also relieved, Clarissa was cheerful again. Back unfriendly and arbitrarily. It annoyed her friend. But that was what Clarissa was. "How is your mother? Still trying to find a husband for you?" Yenny asked. They were waiting for the next class. Diaz’s class. "Yes, but I'm not insistent. I told my mom, I can definitely find a husband myself. I'll get to know Mama right away when I'm with her." Clarissa answered while opening her water bottle. "Ooh? Does she deal with you?" Yenny asked again.
The tall and stout body moved away. Diaz didn't look back at Clarissa. With a sad look and a disappointed heart, Clarissa still stood where she was. Diaz rejected her love. Their close relationship so far, Diaz's concern for him is only as brother and sister. No more. Yenny was right. Diaz wasn't in love with her. Clarissa was too confident. When she had planned everything well, it was to no avail. Clarissa was left behind. "Brother, you are so mean. I really love you. You also show that you love me all this time. In fact?" Clarissa clenched her fists in anger. Clarissa's heart was furious. She was not considered. Again, she accepted the refusal. Her father left her. Her mother didn't care. Last, the man which was Clarissa had hoped to cover up all the pain she had been feeling, had failed her too. Why was life not on her side at all? "But not Clarissa at this rate. I'll get you, Brother. You'll be mine. I'm sure of that." There was sadness mixed with
