Sunset

"Shoot," Kaname looks back up at me.

"Does Kami know anything about our brother?"

"I'd hope not,"

"What do you mean by that?"

"Kami is...how should I put this" Kaname leans back but doesn't close his eyes.

"A hothead?" I finish his sentence.

"Well yeah but in this case, I would say unpredictable. Remember when Father first told us about him?"

"Yeah, Mom cried for hours," The memory of my devasted mother flashed through my mind. I couldn't even imagine the pain she felt.

"Yeah, I remember that too but do you remember what Kami said? Think about that for a bit."

I tried to remember what Kami's words were but all I could remember was my Mother's sobs.

"Uh, Kaname?"

"She said another obstacle" Kaname sat up "At 10 years old, Kami had thought about us as nothing more than obstacles."

"She really said that about him?"

"Yes, Father was taken aback at her statement but he ignored it to tend to Mom. That wasn't what concerned me most though." Kaname gave me a look of sympathy.

"What concerns you most?" I could feel a knot in my stomach forming.

"What concerns me most is how far she's willing to go to lead this war. She already has the drive to get rid of anything in her way."

"Kaname now is not-"

"Karma I'm serious, and I've decided to leave the battlefield too,"

"Seriously why?"

"I don't trust Kami," I knew that for quite some time that Kaname was wary of Kami. His power activates on contact so whenever Kami touches him he tenses up.

"Kaname you know you can't leave the battlefield. Father is going to be upset, you know he's been trying to keep up a united front for the QPs."

"I'm going to see if dinner is ready," Kaname gets up from the bed and walks over to the door.

"Kaname, don't ignore me," He walks out of the room, closing the door behind him. I sigh and lay down on my bed. The sun is setting, the orange glow seeps into my room. I've always hated the setting sun, although it looks beautiful to most people it only reminds me of my childhood in my Father's house.

My mother's and father's house were two complete opposites; one was a dream and the other a nightmare. As kids, Kaname was kind to me until we were 11, Kami had always pushed me around and make me do things and if I didn't she would punish me. The sunset reminds me of the first punishment she ever gave me.

...

"K, get me some candy from the store," Kami said as she watched tv.

"I can't, I have to finish my math or Asagi will get upset with me,"

"Karma go get me my candy now," Kami said getting angry.

"I'm not going Kami, get it yourself," I said getting fed up with her attitude, she was always like this but I was getting tired of it.

"Then at least teleport me there,"

"No, to bring you back I'd have to come with you,"

"Are you disobeying me Karma, your older sister?" Kami slams her hands on the table.

"You're only older by 10 seconds, the doctors could've picked you up solely because they wanted to get the fat one out of the way," I said as I stuck out my tongue at her.

"Take that back and go to the store!"

"Kaname can you come here please, I'm stuck on my multiplication," I took my paper and got up but Kami grabbed my wrist.

"I'll show you what happens when you disobey me," I looked at Kami and her eyes went from a bright blue to ice blue. I tried to break free from her grasp but she held onto me tight, I had run out of options and stabbed her with my pencil. When she let go, I made a run for it to look for Kaname.

"Oh no you don't," Kami ran after me, she almost had caught up with me but I teleported in time. I wasn't thinking about where I was going so I ended up in Father's study. I thought I was safe until a bright pink mark illuminated on my hand.

"Found you," Kami grabbed me and pulled me out of the study by my hair. "There's nothing I hate more than a disobedient servant," Kami yelled at me.

"Owww, Kami let gooooo,"

"Stop squirming"

"Takeda Kamiya, let me go" I open up a portal under both of us and teleport us into Kaname's room. We land on top of his bed and him.

"Ow, what are you guys doing?" Kaname pushed both of us off the bed.

"Kami's trying to hurt me again,"

"Again," Kaname said irritated, "Kami, leave Karma alone,"

"Fine," Kami got up and walked out of the room, I sat on Kaname's room floor shocked.

"Is that all it took?"

"I hope so, you better get to bed the sun's about to go down,"

"Okay bye Kaname and thank you," I had got ready for bed and laid down under the comforter. As I drifted off to sleep, someone opened my door I assumed that it was Father making sure I was asleep. I was yanked out of my bed and dragged into the basement.

"Let this be a lesson to you, don't ever think you could go against someone with more power," Kami slowly closes the door.

"Kami, please don't do this I'm sorry I'll never disobey you again, I promise," The basement was a very dark place, except before the sunset's orange seeps through the window.

I spent every night down there for a month, I had become very ill due to the conditions of being in the basement every night. When Father found out about it Kami had claimed that I only slept in the basement Because I like it down there,  when it came to her word against mine, I had lost. While recovering at home with Father's personal doctor watching over me, Kami told me one last thing.

"Never defy me again,"
