NATALIE’S POV

Mia’s eyes burned into mine but I didn’t flinch.

Not when Mia smirked at me like a cat about to devour its prize. Not when Richard, the human furniture with wandering eyes, chimed in like a trained echo.

“After all, you said we needed vision and artistic preciseness,” Mia purred, tilting her head with mock innocence. “And who better to work solo on this than the creator herself?”

Did she really believe that saying I should work solo on my own project would cause my bones to wither?

I nearly scoffed at the idea as She let the word creator linger like poison on her tongue. “I’m sure no one here wants to steal credit for something they didn’t make, right?”

Instantly my jaw tightened as that hit like a slap.

She noticed my faltered expression and her smile widened. The word steal wasn’t chosen lightly. She wanted me rattled. She wanted me to remember the accusations that nearly destroyed me.

Slimly she-devil, she had researched me and now She was digging for a crack

NATALIE I walked into the mini boardroom thinking maybe, just maybe, the air would be lighter than yesterday. It wasn’t. The tension still lingered, silent and sharp like a knife pressed against skin. I ignored the sideways glances and slid into my seat, my posture straight, my heart steady. I’d been burned before, this was child’s play. And I wasn’t here to make friends. I was here to conquer. Richard walked in, sleeves rolled, swaggering like he owned the damn building while Mia trailed behind him, painting on a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. Her lips matched the red of a warning sign, and her heels clicked with a threat but I refused to let it faze me even though my chest tightened as I watched her. The urge to walk up and explain everything buzzed under my skin. But I didn’t. I swallowed it, because she didn’t deserve my truth, not that it would even matter. “Great!” Richard clapped, jolting the room. “We’ve got a major project with a tight deadline. Two hours in fact.

NATALIE’S POV Stay calm but I couldn’t. My mind was fracturing. What in the bloody rusted hell was happening? Don’t react, Natalie. Don’t give him the satisfaction. I stared blankly at Malcolm Onyx, the man who was now, somehow, my neighbor. Casual in a T-shirt and black pants like he wasn’t a force to be reckoned with. He stepped forward, hand on the doorframe and Instinctively, I shifted back. Everything in me screamed retreat. Pack up. Move across the city. Hell, across the country anywhere that didn’t come with a side of Onyx. Because when it wasn’t Lucas poisoning my air, or Vanessa slithering into my life, it was Malcolm. Cryptic. Calculating and always a step ahead. Rage surged, white-hot and steady. This was my apartment. My sanctuary. My space. And I’d be damned if anyone—especially an Onyx—thought they could invade it. I held up the package with my voice flat. “Wrong address.” But He didn’t look at the box. His eyes lingered on me. Not cold. Just… searching. Lik

NATALIE’S POV“Natalie?”His voice curled around my name like warm velvet, low, smooth and disarming. I blinked, jolted from whatever fantasy I’d been trapped in.Valen Gravestone stood in front of me, perfectly tailored suit, coffee in hand, eyes sharp and unreadable.God, had I been staring?“I—I’m so sorry,” I stammered, heat prickling my neck. But he only chuckled, deep and warm like it was nothing.“No harm done.”Really? His gaze dipped, once. Quick, casual. Professional. But it left a trail of sparks in its wake, and suddenly the air felt too tight. There was something unnervingly easy about him. The way he stood. The way he watched.I stepped back instinctively, needing space before my mouth asked something stupid.Valen’s lips quirked. “How are you finding the company? Is it to your taste?” His mouth welcoming his cup of steaming coffee, his eyes holding curiosity. Was he genuinely asking, or was this some kind of corporate litmus test?I searched his eyes behind the obvious

Natalie’s POVMy heels clicked strongly against marble like gunfire. Hair slicked into a tight bun. Back straight, head high. I walked through the doors of Gravestone Group like I owned it even if my heart was pounding like heavily underneath the surface.Fake it. Sell the illusion until it becomes real.A sharp flash of sunlight bounced off a windshield, forcing me to squint. My eyes tracked the sleek black Mercedes exiting the lot.Was that…?“Malcolm?” I muttered.No. No way. This wasn’t his turf. Not his scene. Still… the way that car moved? it made my gut twist.I shook off the suspicion scolding myself that not every black car was tied to a black card with the name Onyx on it.Twenty minutes later, I was locking eyes with the head of HR, shaking hands with practiced calm. Gravestone Group wasn’t just a level above Caldwell. it was an entirely different galaxy. And I? I wasn’t here to beg for a place. I was here to take it.If Vanessa could see this…A smirk curled my lips. Let h

  • Lost Heiress: Mr Right Offers Me a Second Chance   Chapter 13

Natalie’s POVI tried to stay numb as Becks drove, but my thoughts relentlessly crashed through the walls I had built up. No matter how hard I fought, I kept remembering the lie I’d told Lucas—that I was relieved about the miscarriage. My stomach turned, and I fought the tremor in my hands. The car slowed, and I snapped my attention to the outside. I hadn’t even realized we’d reached the destination until Becks cut the engine. I looked at her, expecting her to reassure me, but she was already stepping out, a wide grin plastered across her face.“What is this?” I murmured under my breath, my eyes scanning the neighborhood in disbelief.I couldn’t move. I wouldn’t.There was no way Becks had brought me here, not after everything. I remembered all the times she mentioned a “perfect” sanctuary, but this? This was no sanctuary—it was a palace.Becks’ cheerful voice snapped me out of my spiral, “You coming?” Her smile faltered when I didn’t move.I shook my head, but I couldn’t speak. Her g

NATALIE’S POV My palm stung and his cheek was already swelling, a red bloom spreading across skin I had once kissed.Lucas laughed some more. It was low, cruel, unrecognizable. A twisted echo of the boyish chuckle I used to love.“You know,” he said, wiping blood from his lip with the back of his hand, “that was a vicious hit. Who taught you that? Malcolm?”I didn’t respond. I was too busy convincing myself not to throw another one.Screw this.I turned my back and moved toward the boxes, the remainder of my life in pieces, waiting for me to carry it out of this goddamn nightmare. But then—his voice echoed again, casual and smug.“I did it.”I stopped. My brain was already glitching over the fact that I was still paying him an ounce of my attention when I had less than 3 hours left.He stepped closer and I felt him behind me before I heard him. His cologne hit me,sharp, expensive, familiar but tainted by the stench of his poisonous persona.“I’m the one who froze your assets,” he

NATALIE’S POV I closed my eyes and stepped closer, barely processing Lucas’s snarling words. Whatever tantrum he was throwing—I didn’t have the energy. Not after today. Not after everything. I just needed to pack and leave.“Natalie!” he barked, storming toward me as I brushed past him towards where a new suitcase laid on our former bed.I ignored him. My hands trembled as I shoved clothes into the half-zipped suitcase. Becks was outside waiting in her car for me, I didn’t have time for this chaos. He grabbed my arm without warning and spun me around.“What the hell is wrong with you?!” I snapped, ripping free. My chest heaved, rage and exhaustion colliding.“I should be asking you that!” he shouted, wild-eyed, hair a mess, shirt half-untucked like he’d been pacing in circles, unraveling. A direct contrast on how I had left him a few hours ago.“You humiliate me in front of my family and suddenly you’re packing like a thief in the night? You think you can just run off without explai

NATALIE’S POVMy eyes were wide in panic as I re-read the same words over and over again.[ Receipt for Mrs Davis hospital settlement paid by Anonymous. Signed by St.Luis.]“Anonymous?” The word echoed in my mind, the weight of it sinking in. Who would do this? I couldn’t make sense of it.My fingers trembled as I zoomed in on the receipt. I should’ve been relieved, it meant Mrs. Davis was taken care of but instead, a sickening knot twisted in my stomach. The only people who knew about her were Lucas, me… and Malcolm.I exhaled shakily trying not to believe what my mind screamed. Why would Malcolm pay for her treatment without consulting me? I’d been the one handling the payments, year after year. But now? Now it suddenly occurred to him to pay!? It felt like he’d crossed a line.A cold fury burned through me and without thinking, I dialed his number, the rage bubbling up. But before I could press the call, another email notification popped up and this time My heart stalled.New email
