Chapter Two: Kelvin's New Wife.

"I can't believe Kelvin did this”. Jessica said, observing the injuries on Diana's swollen eyes which she wore a glass over, "Yeah, I know he's an asshole, but not to this extent. Girl! You could have gone blind." She whined, her voice raised high that Diana had to call her to order, since she didn't want any rumors going around the office.

She met Jessica in their last year in highschool, and she has been a good friend and family since everyone practically ditched her because they couldn't stand Kelvin, but Jessica has always been strong headed so there has never been a good time between her and Kelvin, since he valued total submission, but Jessica is an obstruction to her acting like a submissive wife.

They were both editors at the company where they worked in the city, but Diana was an intern hoping to become a full employee soon. she's happy that at least she has someone here, who she was familiar with, since she's still a newbie while Jessica was her senior, who has helped her pass the test.

Her work was the only thing Kevin hasn't taken away from her, although he doesn't fail yo hide the resentment about her working at the city, not because she would run away from him, but Kevin had this mentality that she wasn't good enough and had sold her body to the director to get such job.

She couldn't feel her left eyes, since Kevin decided to go all ninja on her yesterday night, before she had to prepare dinner even with the injuries. He didn't sleep at home after having dinner so she assumed that he went to his parents house, though giving her the space she needed.

She had received a call from his sister, Suzanne, her chief bridesmaid at their wedding. She's the only one among his three other siblings who she was friendly with, the others were a copycat of his mother who saw her as nothing but bad luck for their perfect brother.

Although she never mentioned it to his mother, and his siblings about Kevin abusing her, it's not like it's going to make any difference if she did, since she could solely remember the last time his mother came visiting, and saw Kelvin choking her against the wall.

Her actions stunned her, she walked past them as if her son wasn't on the verge of commiting murder, so it was useless trying to gain the trust of anyone of them, since she would rather watch her only son go to prison, than to teach him basic manners that it's wrong for a man to raise his hand on a woman.

"All done." Jessica said, bringing her out of her thoughts as she took up the mirror to stare at the hideous sight of herself, tears welled up in her eyes but she knew that she doesn't deserve anyone's pity, not even Jessica's since she doesn't want to leave the marriage, before the marriage ends her.

"I'm really sorry and thankful for everything, Jessica." She cried, wincing when she felt pressure in her other eyes, so she had to control her cries, as Jessica hugged her.

"I will be more thankful if you realize that there's more to this life, than trying to change Kelvin, he doesn't love you, Diana." Jessica advised her, and when she saw a frown settled upon her face, she didn't care about that.

"Yes, it has to be said, any man who loves his woman should know that the day he raised his hands on her, would reduce him to nothing but an animal that he is." Jessica lectured her, as Diana felt an impending headache coming, she went for her bag and took out her antidepressants, instead of actual drugs halfway to taking it, Jessica held her hand.

"You are still taking this? Seriously, Diana?" Jessica complained, but Diana had already taken the drugs, and went for her phone that was ringing instantly and when she saw who was calling, her heart skipped.

It was Kelvin's mom.

"What does she want now?" Jessica whispered, as she shrugged her shoulders before picking up the call, only to stand up in a rush after the call ended.

"I will be going out, keep an eye out for editor lan if i don't come back early." She said, packing her stuff into her bag, without waiting for Jessica to ask her any more questions or to criticize her marriage with Kevin.

As much as she was friends with her, she would have to admit that Jessica has never truly been in love to know how it would feel, to leave the one person that you are living for.

She took a taxi to the destination Marianna, Kevin's mom gave her to trace it down to an expensive restaurant, she has always lived an ostentatious life and wanted Kelvin to come to the city, but for some reason why only known to Kevin, he was stuck in town, which made her wonder if it's because of her, since she has no family in the city and bring in town made her feel closer to her dead parents and grandparents.

With an eye shade she wore on to hide getting unnecessary attention to herself, she finally walked into a private room in the restaurant where she saw her mother-in-law with an unfamiliar face, a young lady who was dressed to the hilt.

She looked like a model who just walked for a commercial. She was still lost in thought, while staring at the young lady before she heard Marianna clear her throat.

"You are here." Marianna said with a sneer on her face, before gesturing for her to take a seat.

Diana could see the hateful glances coming from the two women, who she was sitting across from and wondered what on earth she had done to deserve people hating on her, for not doing anything bad to them.

"Without much time i will get straight to the point." Marianna said, clearing her throat as she could see Diana's gaze going over to where Liliana was, and that's exactly what she wanted.

She turned to face Lilian with a proud smile, as the young lady returned the same energy with her before turning to face the daughter in-law who ruined her son's life.

Diana didn't like the way things were going, even before Marianna could open her mouth to say anything. She knew that she had made a terrible mistake coming here, since she had a lot of work to do at the company and being here with the woman who doesn't regard her existence, made her know that she has no good news, not on her part, until she spoke.

"Diana, meet Liliana, Kelvin's new wife." Marianna said with a smile, that shattered Diana's heart, and when the other young lady who looked like she had just walked down a runway, She could admit, she's beautiful and the ideal woman Marianna wanted with her son.

When she heard the lady talk, only to tell Diana that she smelled funny, she knew truly that her luck had run out, and truly in the end, everything she worked hard for, was about to be snatched away from her forcefully.
