Chapter 20 Leave!

Rory’s POV

I don’t know what he is thinking, but Colt clenches his fist and stands up in front of Jack. I wanted to pull him back down, or maybe back outside in the cold night air and we could go… anywhere else that wasn’t here. Maybe he could come back to my apartment and I could offer him… bad coffee? That sounds so much better than him facing off these two people that look like they are ready to start a fight.

“Jack I don’t know what you’re getting at, but you need to leave.” Colt states while trying to look calm, but I see the clench of his jaw. “I have no business with you or Belle. You can go screw each other’s brains out for all I care. I’m here to relax and get you out of my system. So leave!” He states again.

I want to get up and help, but he sends me a look that tells me he has it under control and I should remain in my seat. I really don't like confrontations, so I am more than happy to comply.

“Why would I do that, when we both know you need to calm down and think for a minute. You need me!” Jack insists, taking slow cautious steps toward us, his hands up in surrender. Does he even hear himself? If he really wanted to calm Colt down, he'd leave, not rile him up! Is he doing this on purpose? Why the hell would he want to do that?

“The hell I do! Don’t be stupid. Take Belle and just leave before I get Brody,” Colt states, with a clear threat if they don’t heed his warning he will deliver with actions. He really doesn’t look like someone you want to make mad. And why do I think this is exactly what Jack is looking for?

"Colt," I whisper shaking my head. My body is tightly wound, looking for an exit.

I watch as Jack’s smirk fades for a moment as he looks between the two of us. There is something calculating in his assessing gaze. He doesn’t look as confident as Colt does, and I don’t blame him. Colt looks like he spends hours in the gym, and Jack… doesn’t. However, that doesn't seem to deter him from his path of destruction.

I'm starting to wonder about Colt's friends... Or ex friends. They seem to really like to push his buttons, and the way Jack is talking, it's like this happens a lot and he just expects Colt to just forgive them... Will Jack sway Colt once again? I don't like the thought of them manipulating him.

And right now, it looks like he is manipulating him right into a fight that I'd much rather avoid! I don't want anyone to get hurt. This is not what this night was supposed to be... Maybe we could go out for ice cream instead?

“C’mon man, we are good partners. Don’t let some stupid thing like this stop what we had!” He tries to plead, not stopping his determined steps. I don’t know what he thinks he’s gonna do when he gets here, but he’d better stop if he knows what’s good for him.

Colt chuckles darkly. “Don’t think I didn’t know you tried to get into my building. I have no idea what you want in there, but I know you were there. If I were to guess, you’ve been following me. I have half the mind to add a restraining order to the both of you along with the divorce and cutting you off from B&B Security. I’m not in the mood to deal with this tonight. I’m giving you fair warning! So like I said, do yourself a favor and leave.”

Jack halts momentarily as he looks at Colt wearily. I watch as Jack swallows hard and sends a look over to Belle. Are they tag teaming him?

“Colt, baby, be reasonable! We were perfect together. Just because Jack and I screwed up once doesn’t mean we weren’t meant to be together!” She screams, grabbing me by my arm, pulling me out of my chair. I stumble, trying to catch my footing and reach out for Colt, who wraps his arms securely around me, even as the bimbo tries to tear me away from him.

However Colt wasn’t having any of it. He shoves her hands off me, and pulls me back to the table.

I’m probably gonna have a bruise there by morning.

“Belle, you have no right to pull her away from me. Not when you’ve been cheating on me. And don’t be stupid enough to think I didn’t know you were cheating on me earlier. This was not a one time thing. I haven’t cheated on you once. So you have no right to determine who I’m with,” Colt revolts, pulling me back behind his body.

“I’m still your wife!” she shrieks, trying to shove him away from me, but the man is like a bolder and doesn’t budge.

“Not for long!” he bellows back, not even bothering to hide his annoyance.

“Colt, we just want to talk,” Jack insists, pulling him away from me.

What is going on with these two crazy people trying to take Colt away from me? Did they hit their heads, or have they always been this delusional? How the hell did Colt ever put up with the two of them?

But Colt won’t move, he shoves Jack off his body and gives him a look like he finally has hit his limit.

“Tonight I was supposed to be having fun with Rory. You two can do whatever the hell you want, just as long as it doesn’t involve me. Now, I’m sick of repeating myself. GET THE HELL OUT!” He shouts.
