Mr Antonio's POV

I sat in the dining room, eating lunch when my phone buzzed. I peeked at the screen as it lay on the table and the caller was one of my men.

I answered and put it on speaker to hear him. “What's the update?”

“Boss, I've done the job.”

“What do you mean? You've killed him?”

“Yes, boss. I've killed him,” he said.

The fork and knife clattered as I dropped it on the glass plate.

“Did you check to see if he was really dead?”

“I had to leave there immediately,” he said. “But I'm sure that he's dead.”

I nodded my head, exhaling deeply. “Alright, you've done a good job. Leave there with the rest of my men immediately.”

I hung up the call, my lips curling up in a smile. Just as I picked up the glass of water to drink, my phone buzzed again.

I inhaled deeply and slammed the glass back on the table when I saw the caller's Id. Nevertheless, I had to pick the call.

“You've finally accomplished the task. The hardwork paid off.”

“What are you insinuating?”

“I’ve heard already,” he

  • Love In The Shadows    IN A PARTY WITH DIEGO

Adriana's POV My mind raced with thoughts. Why was he suddenly asking me these questions? Why did he want to know? With each question he asked, I felt a sense of insecurity washing over me.“I–I don't know how I felt.”“Why don't you know how you felt? It happened in front of you.”“It's–been a while since it happened. I can't remember clearly.”“Wh…..“Please, stop asking the questions,” I said. “A fashion designer will be here hours before the party tomorrow to get you ready. Don't be late,” he said and left the room, shutting the door behind him.The moment he left, I slumped on the bed, my body as light as a feather. His sudden questions ran through my mind and I squinted my eyes trying to figure it out. He had finally spoken to me since when I returned and this was what he said. Unbelievable.I shut my eyes, embracing the cool breeze that blew across the room. The evening air was soft and calm and I heard the night birds chirping in sync.|||The next day approached quickly an

  • Love In The Shadows    I HAVE FALLEN FOR HIM

Adriana's POV {One month later}As I stood in front of the entrance door of Diego's house, my heart raced. I felt a knot form in my stomach as I stood, hesitant to enter inside the house. I sighed twice, hoping that my racing heart would calm down.I tightened my grip on my suitcase. I exhaled and opened the door, the door moving at the same slow pace as me. I stepped inside. How would Diego react to seeing me? Will his expression towards me change this time around? It had been a month since I last set foot here, and I couldn't deny the flutter in my chest as I looked around.Luckily, Diego was neither in the living room nor in sight.Staying at my father's house was a way to escape the chaos of my life with Diego. But as the days turned into weeks, I found myself thinking of him—unusually in a good way.I missed him.The realization hit me like a ton of bricks. I had grown accustomed to his brooding presence and the constant way he fought with me. It was a feeling I couldn't quite

  • Love In The Shadows    TURBULENT EMOTIONS

Adriana's POV Before Diego could react to the bullet the assistant fired, Juan swiftly shot the assistant on his neck. He collapsed to the ground, his eyes open and his body lifeless. The bullet that was fired grazed Luis' thigh and slight blood rushed from the wound.Diego approached us, his expression tensed. “Are you alright? Did the bullet enter deep? he asked, looking at us.“I'm in slight pain, but I'm fine,” I said, my voice barely audible. He glared at me, his expression indifferent. “I wasn't referring to you,” he said, his voice firm.I looked away, embarrassed. Of course, he didn't care about me, how could I forget about that.“I'm alright, Diego. But most of our men are dead,” Luis said, looking at the bodies on the floor.“How about Rodrigo? Where is he?” Diego asked, not seeing him anywhere.“He was shot in his stomach, so he went inside to remove the bullet,” he explained.“When you return, we'll hire more men,” Diego said, sighing.Luis looked at Diego, confusion etc

  • Love In The Shadows    MAFIA MAYHEM

Diego's POV I sat in the living room, an assortment of weapons scattered across the floor. I picked them up one by one, examining each to ensure they were in person working order. Luis entered the room, his expression serious.“How can you be so calm, Diego? This is serious,” he said, his voice laced with a hint of panic. I continued my inspection of the guns, ignoring his question.“We need to leave,” he stated firmly. I paused, finally looking at him. “Leave for where?” I asked, my brows furrowing.“We can't stay here. The Caruso syndicate might attack us at home,” he explained, the tension evident in his voice.I turned back to the weapons, resuming my examination.“Come on Diego, you would be safer in the office. Besides, all our men are waiting, armed and ready for the fight,” he urged, desperate for us to leave immediately.I nodded, holstering my gun. “Alright. Let's go then,” I conceded.Luis nodded in agreement. “The car is ready,” he said. I instructed him to gather all t

  • Love In The Shadows    WAR LOOMS AHEAD

Adriana's POV I sat in the back seat of the car, watching Luis load my luggage into the car's trunk. Confusion swirled within me; why was he doing that? He shut the trunk and slid into the driver's seat.“Are you ready to go, Mrs?” He asked, starting the engine.“Huh?” I mumbled, completely thrown. I didn't understand what he was saying. Where was I going?“Where am I going?” I asked, searching Luis' face for answers. He looked at me, his expression calm.“No one told you? Not even Diego?” He asked, surprise evident in his tone.I looked down. “It's not like we talk at all for him to tell me anything” I mumbled.“I apologize for not telling you about today,” he said, bowing his head. I looked at him, guilt pricking at me. It wasn't his fault and he didn't need to apologize. I wasn't comfortable with his show of respect; it made me uneasy.“No need to apologize. It's alright,” I said. “Diego said I should take you to go and see your father,” he said.I gasped, a smile immediately spr
