Chapter four

Amelia

I thinky father had started to notice that some of his clothing's had gone missing, because I saw him asking the servants about it one day, but I just moved on like I hadn't heard a thing.

I was also surprised that I still hadn't gotten caught sneaking out of the house, not even by the servants, and thankfully my governess was on a break. At least I could get out and have a breath of fresh air. Most of the times, that meant going to Alaric, but I wasn't so sure anymore.

Ever since the incident between Alaric and I, I had tried not to show my disappointment to him whenever I was around him, but it seemed I didn't take rejection well. I really didn't want to be like that, but I couldn't help it.

I had managed to always look depressed around him and that didn't go unnoticed by him, but he hadn't asked about it.

I stood outside of the shack, trying to decide whether to take the food in to him or just drop it and leave, then I would come back later for the plates. As I was in the process of pacing, the door of the chack opened and I gasped as Alaric stood there staring at me.

Well, looks like he's made the decision for me.

I cleared my throat before I spoke. "Good morning." I looked away from him.

"Good morning." He replied and I could hear the smirk in his voice.

Alaric's wounds had actually healed quite quickly and what was left of them were pink scars. I was happy that he had gotten back to his full health in such a short time.

How the hell did he know what I was outside the door?

I swear I was being as quiet as possible.

"How did you know I was out there?" I asked him as I walked past him into the house to drop the tray on the table.

"You were actually pretty loud for someone that wanted to be quiet." He said closing the door and I frowned.

"What do you mean? I was being as quiet as possible." I frowned.

"No you weren't." He laughed and I huffed annoyed that he was mocking me.

"It's okay, you've laughed at me enough." I said, my dad feelings coming back as I watched him laugh.

I could see him watching me through the side of my eye. I sighed as I couldn't shake off the heavy feeling in my heart.

"What's wrong, Amelia? You've been acting thos way for a while." He said and I looked away, not wanting to talk about it.

"There's nothing wrong. I'm just thinking about my parents, that's all." I lied through my teeth.

"I know you're lying, Amelia. It's written all over your face." He said and I sighed.

"It's nothing you should be bothered about, Alaric. It's my personal issue, so I can handle it myself." I said, sounding a little harsh.

"But I'm the reason, aren't I? Because I rejected your kiss." He said and I looked away, feeling really embarrassed.

"That's the reason, isn't it?" He moved closer to me.

"Like I said before, it has nothing to do with you. It was my fault for coming unto you, so can we please just for get about it and eat your food before it gets cold."

I could see him smirk from the side of my eye, and that made me feel even more angry.

Before I could tell what was happening, Alaric came to sit beside me, and held my face in his hand and pressed his lips to mine.

I gasped shocked by his actions and try to pull away, but he doesn't let me go. Teb butterflies in my stomach were going crazy at this point as my body was stiff as a stick. He placed his hand over my back and pulls me closer to him as he deepens the kiss.

It takes a while for me to get past the shock, but when I do, I realize that I really don't know what to do, so I just sit there, letting him do his thing.

Alaric pulled back and laughs as he wiped his mouth.

"What's wrong? Why are you laughing?" I asked, frowning.

"Nothing, it's nothing. You can't just sit there and let me do all the work by myself."

"I don't know what to do. I've never kissed anyone before." I said, playing with my fingers as I looked down.

"Just follow my lead, okay? Do what I do." He said and I nodded.

He pulled me in again and went for my lips. This time, I made sure to participate because I also wanted him to also enjoy the kiss.

He pressed his lips to mine and this time I didn't t hesitate to open up my mouth for him. At this point I was sure the butterflies in my stomach had died from too much excitement, because my stomach felt empty and void.

I raised my hands and wrapped them around Alaric's neck, bringing myself so close to him that I was almost sitting on his thighs. I felt so happy that Alaric tried to make it up to me by kissing me. I didn't know if he had feelings for me, but I wasn't ready to think about it. I just wanted to enjoy the moment.

His tongue snaked into my mouth and licked my tongue, and I moaned. The feeling was so new to me that even the slightest movement of his tongue made me moan. I felt weird being the only one moaning, so I thought to do something.

I removed my tongue from his mouth and closed my lips on his own tongue, sucking it. Alaric let out a loud groan and pulled back, staring at me like I was a ghost.

"How did you do that?" He asked, and the look on his face was really funny.

"Do what? I just copied what you were doing."

"But I never did that. Are you sure you've never kissed anything me before?" He said with an amused look in his face.

"No I haven't. It was just instinct, kind of." I said, moving away from him a little bit.

"But I really didn't mean to pull away from you the other day, I was just shocked, that's all."

"It's fine, really. I'm not angry anymore." I said to him and he stood up abruptly.

"What's wrong?" I frowned.

"Let's go for a walk in the forest." He said and my eyes widened.

"Again?"

"Yes, Amelia. And maybe we can also visit the waterfall too for a swim."

"Oh no. I'm going to have to politely decline. I'm not interested in going anywhere near that waterfall anytime soon." I said and Alaric laughed loudly.

"Oh, come on. It's because we weren't ready and we forgot that you've never swam before."

"No. There's nothing that you're going to say that will convince me to go with you."

"Okay, I'll teach you how to swim then, how's that? And maybe, just maybe I may let you kiss me again." He said and I perked up at the last thing he said.

"Well then, what are we waiting for?" I jumped to my feet. "Let's get going right now."

He smiled as he led the way out of the shack.

"Wait, what about your food?" I asked, pointing to the food that was still on the table.

"Well, I can always come back to it now, can't I?" He said and I laughed and nodded.

We made our way into the forest. This time, it wasn't hard for me to go past the clearing, because with Alaric by my side, I felt safe.

As we walked, Alaric slyly took my hand in his and I smiled, feeling really happy. We walked around for a while, talking about different things, but the one thing that bothered me was the fact that I still didn't know anything about Alaric.

I had managed to fall for him in such a short time that it was shocking even to me, but I still didn't know how he felt towards me or if he was just leading me on.

Is it too much of me to wish that we would remain like this forever?
