Chapter 29: The Party Was Cancelled

“What?” I stood gaping at him.

Well, did Ivor make fun of me? I wondered if I was looking at him with too harsh eyes.

“Don’t forget your work for the party tonight,” Ivor said. Immediately, this unexpected seriousness surprised me as if the person who had just teased me was his second personality.

Ivor left immediately. My eyes followed him until I could no longer see him.

I shook my head to keep myself awake. I knew I did nothing stupid when I was drunk last night, that was enough. There is work to be done.

Working in a cramped hotel room isn’t my thing, so I brought my laptop and notebook down to the hotel cafe. Most of the customers who rent rooms at this hotel were enjoying their mornings at the beach, so the cafe was pretty quiet.

It didn’t take too long for me to focus on my work.
