Chapter 14

Emily was already in the office and was supposed to take care of quite a lot of work, making her lightheaded. However, since arriving at the office this morning, she has not been able to concentrate well.

Her head felt pain and made her bark all day.

"Hey ... are you okay?" asked Shila, who had been in front of her and noticed since she was lost in thought.

Emily sputtered and shook her head to provide answers to Shila's questions as well as to dispel thoughts about the events of the past few days.

Jason's sweet demeanor, which turns brutal when he finds out Emily is talking to Jared on the phone, leaves Emily confused and unable to interpret the man's feelings toward her.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I ... Shila—" Emily didn't continue her sentence but looked at her best friend sincerely. Shila immediately sat down opposite Emily and waited for the woman to talk about whatever was burdened on her mind.

"What's wrong, Em? Did that bastard hurt you again?" repeated Shila, who hadn't gotten
