Chapter 10 - The Man Who Has Her Heart

As they were heading toward his car, Marty could not help but smile as he remembered the softness of Cassandra's lips. The sweet taste of her mouth still lingers. Their bodies fit together as though they’re made for each other.

At this point, Marty already admitted to himself that he fell head over heels for Cassandra. A while ago when he held Alexia’s waist, he felt disgusted. He even couldn’t bring himself to kiss Alexia.

While on their way to the restaurant, the scene while back kept on flashing in her mind. She felt her face flush and a tingling sensation blanketed her body.

No matter how much she tries to take it out of her mind, it keeps popping out. For the first time, she felt no disgust about the kiss. As opposed to kissing her co-actors during the shoot, she wanted to throw up.

Marty, at the same time, observes Cassandra, since she is silent. He tried to read her, but couldn't get the slightest idea what she was thinking.

"Are you angry?" Marty couldn't hold back, he has never experienced being ignored by a woman. Wherever he goes, he is always surrounded by women ready to flirt with him and jump into his bed.

Cassandra didn't say anything since she didn't know what to say. She wanted to pretend to be angry, but that's not how she feels at the moment. Actually, she's ecstatic because of that kiss.

"I'm sorry." Marty could hardly stand Cassandra's silence.

Marty hadn't been this way before. He was never anxious about women. He's used to having women do whatever pleases him and was never treated like an air.

He's concerned that Cassandra treated him as nothing. Cassandra is indifferent toward him, whereas she is warm when it is Graham. The pain he feels is akin to a dagger piercing a heart.

"Sir Marty, let's just forget about it." Cassandra finally said.

"Let's just think nothing transpired between us." Cassandra went on. Though Cassandra said that, images of what happened lingered in her mind.

Considering that her love for him will be her downfall. She's careful not to let Marty know how she felt about him. Nonetheless, she's having a hard time repressing her love for Marty.

"Alright," Marty agreed but deep down, he couldn't shake it off his head. It was the sweetest kiss he has ever had though Cassandra didn't respond.

However, Marty became anxious as he had a hunch that after tonight Cassandra will avoid him at all cost. It made him determined, he's not going to give up, he's going to do whatever it takes to have her heart.

The minute they walked into the restaurant, a waiter approached them.

"Hi Miss Christine, how are you?" said the waiter.

"I am perfectly fine. How about you? " Christine/Cassandra smiled.

"I'm fine too." The waiter answered, and then she glanced at Marty.

"It's been a while, you always come here every weekend with Dr. Graham. You haven't been here for a month, though. So I thought..." Cassandra noticed that the waiter was constantly looking at Marty.

Cassandra perceived what she meant. So she didn't let her finish her sentence. "By the way, this is Marty," Cassandra said.

"Is he your new boyfriend?" Cassandra was taken by surprise.

She didn't see it coming. She never thought that waiter would have the audacity to throw something like that around.

"No, he isn't. He is just a friend" Cassandra was flustered.

Marty's body tense up at Cassandra's last three words 'just a friend. ' He felt as if his heart was pierced with a dagger. He wanted to be more than a friend to Cassandra.

He is wondering why Cassandra is not interested in him. Is it retribution for him because he broke too many hearts?  And now that he fell in love, the object of his love doesn't share the same feeling with him.

"Oh, I see." the server said. "That means you're still with Dr Graham.".

Marty was agitated as he felt that the server was already poking her nose in other people's businesses.

Christine/Cassandra kept her cool, although the server is getting on her nerves now. She didn't know why the waiter became like that when she was courteous to them before. She thought about what had gotten into her.

"Give us a couple of minutes to look at the menu and I'll call you later once we've already decided what to order." Cassandra said to surreptitiously tell her to leave them alone.

While Cassandra was speaking, she could feel Marty’s intense gaze.

"Okay," the waiter left them.

In order to evade Marty’s intense gaze, Cassandra immediately looked into the menu. Marty frowned as he could feel Cassandra’s coldness towards him.

"So, you and your friend come here every weekend." Marty stressed out the word 'friend'. He placed the menu on the table and looked at Cassandra.

"Yes, " said Cassandra as she placed the menu on the table and looked into Marty's eye.

Cassandra could see, gloom in Marty's silver eyes. She wonders why there is sadness in his eyes. She ignored it, thinking that she was wrong and she was just seeing things.

"How long have you been friends?" Marty feels he is being nosy but he can't help himself.

"From the time I joined the industry," Cassandra replied.

"Is he pursuing you?" Cassandra blushed at Marty's question which didn't escape Marty's notice.

"Yes." Cassandra bowed her head as she could not look into the eyes of the man who has her heart without him knowing it.

"Do you love him?" Cassandra cocked her head.

She couldn't believe she's being interrogated by Marty. Her heart flutters as she feels he is interested in her seeing his eyes full of longing.

Knowing her answer will give him a hint, Cassandra did not answer Marty’s question. She refuses to become Marty’s plaything and it is the last thing she desires in life. She wants to be loved and cherished by Marty and it is impossible because he changes his lover the same way he changes his clothes.
