In the last second before I lost consciousness, Henry picked me up from the ground and I mustered my last ounce of strength to push him away.

"Don't come near me..."

When I woke up from my stupor, all I could see was pure whiteness. My entire body felt heavy, and even a slight movement caused excruciating pain.

"Yvonne..."

Henry saw me open my eyes and immediately leaned in.

"You're awake?"

I swallowed hard and struggled to speak, "Baby..."

Henry quickly picked up a nearby towel, intending to wipe my face, but I stopped his hand and asked, "Is the baby still there?"

He said, "If you're willing, we can still have a child."

In that moment, I felt like I had been cast into hell by God. Tears flowed silently like an endless river.

"Don't cry, Yvonne..."

For the first time, Henry was flustered in front of me, and for the first time, I saw a look of genuine concern in his eyes.

But this belated affection was as insignificant as dust.

I no longer needed his love.
