                    Chapter Five 

We drove halfway and jammed in some kind of traffic.

''What do you think has happened?'' Bruce asked.

 ''I don't know man.'' Angel answered.

We could not see that there was traffic officers untill we reached closer.

 ''Shit!'' Angel exclaimed.

 ''What is it bro?'' I asked.

 I was at the back so i couldn't see the police officers.

''Cops bro.'' Angel responded.

''F*ck and we both took something.'' Bruce said.

 ''So whats the plan?'' I asked.

 ''Once the breathriser is given to me, we are doomed.'' Angel said.

''That means we gonna sleep in the cells right?'' Jay asked in a quivering voice.

 ''No thats not happening.'' Bruce responded.

 I could feel her heart throbbing so fast and she began to shiver.

''Hey relax, everything is going to be alright.'' I said to her.

''Like i haven't seen myself  spending a night in police cells, that's the worry.'' She said, i could tell from her inntonation she was really scared.

''Jay, quiet! No one is going to prison.'' Shouted April.

We slowly reached the road block. The police officer came through to us.

 ''Licence and registration please.'' He said.

 ''Ah....officer, can i just pullover and search for it nicely.'' Angel said while stammering and his hands were on the wheel; he headed for the layby.

He pulled over the vehicle at a layby. When i looked back at the rear windscreen i saw the  police officer coming for us. Upon reaching he asked.

 ''Are you guys been drinking?''  I think he heard the smell of beer.

And almost at the same time we all responded with a huge 'No' sound.

This gave him some sought of hint that chances where very high that we were drunk.

 ''Can you all please step out of the vehicle.'' He said to us.

'We both then exchanged looks.'

Jasmine was almost ululating because the case seemed to be getting worse. I could see her eyes turned bloodshot. Her heart was beating like a drum. Angel never let go of the wheel and the engine was still running.

Bruce and Suzie had their hands held tight to each other and her head was on his chest. I could see Bridget was startled even though she seemed to be strong but deep down i knew she was scared as well.

''I said move out of the vehicle.'' The Cop said it again, and this time he began raising his voice.

The good part he never had the breatheriser with him, just that moment he looked back and stepped aside of the car resquesting for it, Angel engaged in drive mode the next thing he heard was the tyres screeching and  the car was already on the highway he was left in dust. There was some sought of screaming from the girls. I could hear the police officer shouting 'stop! stop! stop' as if that was not too enough; it was too late for him the vehicle had already gone.

Peddle down the car was moving at a high speed, we drove for good 5mins with no signs of the police car chasing us.

''Oh my God!'' Angel screamed.

''what's it this time.'' Bruce asked.

Before Angel could answer. We all heard the police siren wailing. It was now more like we are in a video game.

''Jay!, you can now think of spending a night in the police cells.'' Angel said in a sharp scarely voice as he was busy with the wheel.

She didn't say a word cause she looked back the window and saw that the police car was closing in.

''Man you gotta do shit about it.'' Bruce said to Angel.

 ''What the hell do you think am doing man?'' Angel responded on his top voice.

 Suzie said ''Oh! come on guys, really?, Bruce can you let him concentrate please.''

We found a broken down truck we by passed it and  metres away we overtook about 6 vehicles and then joined into some kind of traffic which made it difficult for the Cops to see us. We could hear the siren wailing and see the blue coloured bicon flashing. We were now metres away to reaching the city. Both the sound of the siren and the flashing bicon started fading away.

''Phew; Angel did and moving his right hand across his face while the other one was on the wheel. Jay, did you see that?'' He added trying to sound calm as if everything was nornal.

 She couldn't say a word but her face showed some happiness.

''That was good broski.'' Bruce said and tapping him on the shoulder.

 ''What's up girl, we cool?'' Angel asked April while holding her hands.

''Yeah sure we cool.'' She answered with a panting voice.

Jasmine looked at me and said ''Are you sure they ain't gonna come for us?''

 I got hold tight of her hands and made her lean to my chest and told her eveything was now cool.
