“Bri? It’s Ethan. He’s cheated again.” Her friend’s voice came through.

This wasn’t the first time it was happening.

Brielle sat still on the couch, surrounded by silence and loneliness, and her only source of light was the candles on the table.

“It’s all over the news this time around, Bri. Are you sure you still want to be with him? With a man that humiliates and disrespects you every damn time?” The frustration in her friend’s voice was evident.

With trembling hands, Brielle took her phone away from her ear to stare at the breaking news, and just as Luna had mentioned, the headlines were all about her husband.

“BILLIONAIRE CEO KISSES YOUNG MODEL ON BROOKLYN STREET- LOVE IS IN THE AIR BETWEEN ETHAN RAYNE AND REINA FALLON.”

The picture was vivid..too vivid. Her husband, whom she had been married to for two years, was locked in a heated kiss with a younger woman whom she had never seen before, at least not before now.

Their pictures were on every page, and they were even named the couple of the year.

Ethan’s smile was bright and mischievous. His six foot two self was dressed in a designer tuxedo as if he had just stepped out of a fashion magazine. Ethan was the kind of man whose presence could silence a room, and it didn’t help that he had the looks of a Greek God mixed with a model.

With his tousled hair and sharp jawline that made women adore him and beg for his attention. He had a reputation for parading different women, as none of them ever lasted by his side for a week.

If only they knew he had a wife…

Brielle ended the call and stared at the pictures one more time before releasing a long sigh.

She didn’t cry.

She only turned to the elegant table she had spent all day setting and stared in silence- the burning candles, the food untouched, the bouquet of roses she had carefully arranged.

All for their wedding anniversary.

She wondered how her marriage had gotten here. Sure, he didn’t love her as much as she loved him. The least she expected him to do was show no disrespect while they were still married.

She had spent the entire two years of her marriage being woken up to news like this about her husband, and over time, she had grown a thick skin.

But, for how long was she going to remain like this?

For how long was she going to sit and wait while he slept with every woman he found out there?

A sudden knock cut through the silence, returning her from her daze.

Brielle rose and walked carefully to the door. She opened it and was immediately met by the pungent stench of perfume and alcohol.

The woman from the photo, Reina Fallon, stood before her, her hair disheveled, her lipstick smeared and her cheeks reddened. Her dress was a little too tight for Brielle, but she shut her mouth.

Behind her was her husband, Ethan, who could barely stand straight. His hair was just as disheveled as the woman’s, and his shirt was missing some buttons.

“You must be the wife,” Reina said smugly, mockery evident.

“Sorry to bother you this late.” She said with an exaggerated sweetness. “Ethan drank too much at my house, so, I figured I should bring him home…to his wife.” She said the last three words with a smirk dancing on her lips.

“I couldn’t just leave him at my place even though I know it would be what he wants. I felt it would be best for him to spend the night with his wife.” She said, widening her smile at Brielle and feigning innocence.

Brielle didn’t flick at her words. This wasn’t the first time she had witnessed such a scene. The only thing that was new this time around was the woman.

If only she knew that she was just one of Ethan’s playthings.

Brielle felt bad for her- she really did. She was bragging shamelessly about a man who wasn’t hers and would leave her the second he found someone more interesting.

But Brielle was in no place to judge. Not when she was the biggest fool for waiting every single time.

Now, she wasn’t shaken by his affairs, just disappointed.

“You must be tired,” Brielle said a little too calmly for the woman. “Thank you for bringing my husband back home. I’ll have a driver leave with you to make up for the stress.” She added and turned to her husband, her face void of any expression.

As soon as they were about to step in, Ethan staggered forward and collapsed into Brielle’s arm, almost knocking her off her feet with his body weight.

His breath reeked of whisky; it made her gag.

“Sorry, darling. I just cheated on you again,” he mumbled into her neck with a charming smile that women would kill for.

“It’s alright, Ethan. I don’t mind.” Brielle answered in a calm voice.

“I know you are the best.” Ethan nuzzled her neck, and Reina’s eyes widened.

Reina blinked, clearly caught off guard by her reaction. That wasn’t the normal reaction women gave when they found their husbands with another woman.

She was expecting some tears, maybe yelling, screaming, or even a fight, but…this was definitely not what she expected.

“Thank you once again. I’ll take it from here.” She finished and threw Ethan one final look, making him walk sluggishly towards the front door.

The moment the doors closed, Ethan didn’t look drunk at all. He stood up straight, his eyes scanning the dining table. “What is all this for?” He asked in a scoff.

Brielle took a deep breath, finally meeting his gaze with determination.

“I want a divorce.”

Looking at the signed paper, many mixed feelings were crushed over Brielle. This should've been a moment of satisfaction for Brielle. Yet, her mind was clouded with thoughts she had tried to avoid. She didn't want to dwell on how the divorce might affect both of their families, but the weight of it began creeping in.She hadn't considered them until now. Convincing both families wouldn't be easy, but she pushed the thought aside, focusing on the present. She knew she couldn't stay with Ella forever. Ella wouldn't mind, of course, but Brielle didn't want to be a burden to anyone. Eventually, she'd need her own place. That would take time, though, so for now, she decided to stay in a hotel during the transition. As she walked into the grand building, the receptionist greeted her warmly. "Good day, Ma'am. Do you have a reservation?"Brielle smiled sadly and shook her head. "I don't.""Oh." The receptionist nodded, her friendly smile still plastered to her face."Well then. We have some

"You're such a mood killer, Brielle," Ethan muttered, clicking his tongue and backing away."If you have needs, you know exactly where to find someone to handle them. Just don't come to me," Brielle said sharply. Her words hit a nerve. Ethan grabbed her arm and pulled her close again, his eyes flashing."What did you just say?" he demanded. "You are my wife!" why the hell do you keep pushing me toward other women? No sane wife would do that!"Brielle let out a dry chuckle. "Isn't that what you've always wanted?""Oh, I get it. It's still about it. You are jealous." Ethan smiled knowingly and raked a hand through his hair."I meant what I said, Ethan. There are thousands of women ready to warm your bed. Why not give one of them a call? Maybe Reina Fallon—she was at the house a few days ago. I'm sure she remembers the way." Brielle said with a polite but distant smile. It took Ethan some time to recall who Reina was, and then his lips twitched in amusement. Her words only confirmed his

"Your wife didn't accept the presents, Sir," Frederick answered in a shaky voice. Ethan gritted his teeth but said nothing, only seething in anger. After a few moments, Frederick broke the silence, choosing hus and words wisely to avoid upsetting Ethan. "Do I still need to apply for the private jet to Majorca island?" He asked. Ethan had prepared it as a present for Brielle since she had always wanted to go there."Obviously not! Don't ask me stupid questions." Ethan sneered and ended the call angrily. He threw the phone across the room angrily. He couldn't believe that Brielle was still making things hard for him despite his many attempts to apologize. He had shown his sincerity to her, so what more did she want?Ethan tapped his feet impatiently on the hard floor, deciding to take matters into his own hands."You can hide, but you can't run, Brielle." He said, making his way to his phone. He knew that there was only one place she could be in, so he headed there. ****The loud sou

“I…uh.” Jessica’s face went pale immediately after the words left Ethan’s lips."I just... I knew you were married, so I heard about her," Jessica tried to cover up her nervousness."Do you know Brielle in person?" Ethan seemed only to ask casually, somehow Jessica had a sense he might feel something was not right.“Of course not.” She answered immediately.“So why would she mistreat you? Brielle isn’t that type of person. She wouldn’t do that.” He said confidently.Throughout their marriage, he realized Brielle was too kind and gentle to mistreat anyone without a valid reason, so Jessica’s claims were questionable.“I don’t know either, Ethan.” Jessica sighed pitifully. “She suddenly attacked me without telling me anything, but do not blame her for that. She must have misunderstood our relationship and acted impulsively as soon as she saw me at the restaurant.” She added, pretending to care about Brielle.Jessica waited for a while, hoping to get a response from Ethan, but the line w

Brielle tied her apron and brushed a stray curl behind her ear, trying to put everything about her personal life behind her and focus on her work. However, it was not an easy day for her. "Private Room Four sent the steak back, saying it was overcooked." The waitress returned with the dish, reporting with an awkward wince. "It couldn't be." Brielle frowned while checking, and she was sure it was correctly grilled. Brielle cooked another one, which was returned as quickly as it was sent out. "Room Four returned it again. She said it was definitely not what she wanted." Brielle pressed the steak a little and did not doubt that the steak was cooked, just as the customer asked. She didn't know why the customer insisted it was wrong, but she took a deep breath and started another one, ensuring it was perfect. It took much longer than the last two times for the waitress to return. Just when Brielle thought the customer was finally satisfied with the steak, she saw the face of

“Jessica is pregnant.” The words stung hard as they left Brielle’s lips. Ella froze mid-sip, the music of the club now long forgotten. “What?” She asked, leaning in with wide eyes. Brielle only nodded, not bothering to raise her voice- she didn’t need to. The truth echoed louder. Jessica had shown up as one of Ethan’s many flings a year ago, but unlike his other flings, he had kept her for longer. She had been in the picture for a year, even though Brielle had never seen her. Even though Brielle never showed it, it bothered her because, like all playboys, Ethan had a rule. “Never stay with a woman for more than a week.” Unlike the others who followed the rule, Jessica had stayed for a whole year! But she suddenly showed up a week ago, claiming to be carrying Ethan’s child and begging Brielle to let Ethan go so she could have a place in his life. “She came to you?” Ella’s mouth parted as Brielle narrated, and she nodded slowly. “That witch has got some nerves!” Sh
