The students all chuckled, and Professor Miles got his lecture started. After fighting with his wolf for half the lecture, he managed to eventually limit himself to a few lingering glances at her before he managed to keep himself professional and keep his distance for the rest of the semester.

However, everything changed just as midterms ended. Isadora accidentally ran out of her heat suppressant pills, not having the chance to refill them due to studying and work until the exams were over.

Isadora had just restarted the suppressants, and though they were working, Professor Miles had still picked up the lingering scent of her approaching heat after passing her in the library.

With the craving to claim her, Alpha Miles returned to his Pack during the month break between semesters, hoping that the distance would help him get her out of his mind. However, it didn’t work because not only was she the only thing on his mind while he was at the pack, but she also seemed to captivate him again as soon as they returned.

Two weeks into the second semester of the year, Alpha Miles couldn’t take Ransom’s constant battering in his head any longer, making him come up with a way to get Isadora alone. As Alpha Miles looked over his schedule of assignments for the coming semester, he smiled as a plan showed itself.

As he organised and printed out the guideline sheet for the first assignment, he made a couple of pages that only had the minimum of information, causing the recipient to come to him to get what they needed.

Walking into the lecture hall on Monday, Professor Miles was a little nervous; he had never done anything like this before, as he had met his mate at 19 and they had been like any other mates by each other's side until she passed, so he was a little worried that this wouldn’t work out the way he wanted.

After everyone was seated, Professor Miles started the lecture, then with about 5 minutes to the end, he walked over to the desk in the corner and pulled out the pile of assignment papers he had in his briefcase. He then returned to the front and briefly explained the assignment preliminaries he was about to hand out as they left.

When the buzzer sounded, Professor Miles moved back over to the desk, leaned against it and said.

‘Make sure to pick up an assignment preliminary sheet as you leave.’

Professor Miles watches as the students stand and then make their way to where he is leaning against the desk. He passes each student an assignment sheet, making sure to give a couple of the males, along with some of the females, including Isadora, the assignment sheet that is lacking.

After giving out a few of the assignment sheets, Professor Miles calls out.

‘I am in my office from 3 pm till late if you need any help or information concerning the assignment or anything else we cover in the lecture.’

Once every student had left, he turned, placed his hands on the desk, and as he leaned over a little, he let out a long breath, finally allowing his tense body to relax a little.

Isadora was surprised when she sat down in the library later that afternoon and looked over the assignment sheet, only to find that half the preliminaries that he was talking about were missing.

Knowing that she would have to go and see him to get what was missing on the sheet, she did some work for her other lectures before packing all her textbooks and notes into her bag.

Though her confidence had grown since she started at the college, talking to the Alpha Professors was still a little daunting for her; however, knowing that she had to see him for the information she was missing, she took a deep breath, Isadora, got to her feet and headed over to the professor's office building.

Looking at the ledger as she walked into the building's foyer, she found Professor Knight’s office number and headed over to the elevator. Stepping into the elevator, Opal started to pace in her head, and the closer they got to the Professor's office, the more agitated Opal seemed to get.

Isadora stepped up to the professor's door and hesitantly lifted her hand, still fighting herself as to whether or not to see him now or just after his lecture the following day. Just as Opal’s agitation gets the better of her and she lowers her hand, ready to turn, the door opens and another student, Charlotte, walks out.

Feeling a little better after seeing another student, Opal was still agitated but had backed off. Isadora knocks on the open door as she enters the office and says.

‘Professor? Professor Knight, are you here?’

‘Yes, Isadora. I’ll be just a moment. Please take a seat.’

Professor Miles raises his voice just a little for her to hear him without actually yelling. He had smelled her intoxicating Omega scent the moment she stepped off the elevator and approached the door.

He had quickly given Charlotte the information she needed and excused her before ducking into his private bathroom as his cock had reacted immediately to her scent, hardening and throbbing painfully, restricted within his pants.

A little ashamed, but knowing what he was about to do, he undoes his pants and pulls out his hard throbbing cock, suppressing a groan before reaching over and opening the drawer below the sink. He pulls out a foil packet.

Miles hadn’t used one of these since before he met his mate, but though he planned on claiming the Omega that had just entered his office, he wasn’t ready for the backlash or for her to bear his pups, as the suppressants the Omegas are given may suppress their scent, but they don't stop them from conceiving. He rips open the foil wrapper, pulls out the rubber condom and slides it onto his hard, throbbing cock with another suppressed groan.

Miles then tucks his cock back into his pants, does them up and adjusts his cock through the fabric so that it isn’t as noticeable before walking out of his private bathroom to sit behind his desk.

Halfway through answering her questions about the assignment preliminaries that were missing on her sheet, Professor Miles leans his elbows on his desk and says.

‘Do you mind if I have a drink? Office hours are over, though I will still answer any lingering questions you have.’

‘Sure, that’s fine, Professor.’

Professor Miles stands and walks past Isadora to the door, closing it smoothly and locking it carefully before stepping over to the small, hidden wet bar in the corner of the office. Grabbing two glasses, Professor Miles looks over his shoulder and says.

‘Do you want one?’

Isadora hesitated before saying.

‘Do you have any soda?’

‘Nah, sorry, sweetheart. Only Bourbon, Whisky or Vodka.’

Sighing, Isadora didn’t really like any type of alcohol, as it made good people and wolves do stupid and hurtful things. Her brother Chase had gotten addicted to wolfsbane-infused brandy, and whenever he had been binging, she was always on the receiving end of his fists when he would return home. Feeling that it would be rude to decline, she nods and whispers.

‘Maybe a little glass of Whisky.’

They didn’t go far after leaving the building.None of them said it out loud, but they were all thinking the same thing. Moving too much right now meant noise. And noise meant attention. So they stopped. They weren’t hiding. They weren’t running. They were simply standing still. The city moved around them as if nothing had happened. Cars passed. Voices drifted through the air. People continued with their lives the same way they always did.But for the three of them, everything felt different.Elarastood near the edge of the pavement, the file still in her hand.It felt heavier now.Not because of what was inside it.Because of what it meant.“They’re not going to chase us,” she said quietly.Adrianstood beside her, looking down the street.“No.”Deborah frowned slightly. “After everything that just happened?”Adriannodded once.“They can’t.”

The first page immediately felt different. It wasn’t a formal report, and it wasn’t organised the way the other records had been.It looked more like a record someone had built over time.Handwritten.Old.At the top of the page were the words:Case Variation: Unresolved.Elarafelt her chest tighten slightly as she turned the page.More notes followed.Different handwriting appeared throughout the pages, different tones, different dates, but the pattern stayed the same.Leadership.Attachment.Intervention.And then deviation. Her fingers slowed as she read.“This one didn’t end the same way,” she said.Adrianstepped closer. “What do you mean?”Elarapointed to a note written in the margin, a single line underlined once.Subject refused separation. They did not go inside right away. That alone said enough. The three of them remained outside the apartment building for a moment, standing in a quiet pause that was not hesitation but awareness. Once they stepped back inside, they would be reacting again, moving within a structure that had already been laid out for them.None of them wanted that.Adrianwas the first to break the silence.“They’re building a case,” he said.Elararested her weight lightly against the rail beside her. “They already have one.”“Yes,” Adrianreplied calmly. “But they need it to look justified.”Deborah folded her arms. “Which means they’re not finished yet.”Adriannodded once.“They won’t act until they can control the narrative.”Elara’s eyes narrowed slightly as she considered that.“Then we don’t give them one.”Adrianlooked at her, and in that look something shifted. Not def

They had barely gone a short distance when the shift began to creep in. It was not loud, and it did not arrive all at once, but it was there, settling into the air around them. Outside the building, everything felt different from when they had first walked in. The air seemed thinner somehow, like something had been disturbed and the world had not quite finished adjusting to it.Elarawas the first to notice. She slowed slightly, her eyes moving across the street as if she were trying to feel the shape of the moment. “They’re not letting this go,” she said under her breath.Adriankept walking, his pace steady. “No,” he answered.Deborah followed a step behind them, her attention shifting between the street ahead and the building they had just left behind. “They’ve never lost control like that before,” she said.Adriancame to a stop, not sharply, just enough to break the rhythm of their movement.“They didn’t lose control,” he

Elaradidn’t rush forward when she entered the room, and that alone changed the atmosphere. Instead, she moved slowly, letting her eyes travel across the space the way Adrianhad earlier. But unlike him, she wasn’t measuring strength or pressure. She was studying the design. The markings on the floor immediately caught her attention. Their spacing was deliberate, the lines arranged in a way that suggested purpose rather than decoration. Even the air in the room felt strangely responsive, but only when Adrianmoved within the boundary. The more she observed, the clearer it became that nothing about this setup was random. Every element had been built to react. Her gaze lifted to Adrian. He was still standing inside the marked boundary, completely controlled, his posture steady as he watched her approach.“You came anyway,” he said.“I had to see it,” Elarareplied calmly. His expression sharpened slightly. “Then you already

They didn’t send a letter. They didn’t schedule a meeting. They came themselves. It was late afternoon when the knock came at the door. Not loud. Not hesitant.Just precise.Adrianwas already standing before the second knock sounded.Elarastayed where she was. She didn’t need to move to know what this meant. This was it.Deborah opened the door.Three people stood outside. Not guards. Not enforcers.Council representatives. In some ways, that was worse.“They’re not waiting anymore,” Deborah said quietly as she stepped aside. The three figures entered without asking.Calm. Composed. As if the decision had already been made long before they arrived.Adrian stood in the centre of the room, still and controlled.“What is this?” he asked. The older woman stepped forward. There was no polite performance this time.
