I was finally getting a hold of senior year, and the whole topic of applying for college has been ringing in my ears non-stop.

I am low-key tired of hearing everyone's parents feel about their next step and choices after high-school, when I can't actively discuss mine with my own parents….. or well….. my dad.

School today was fun though, and I had the most exhausting dance practice ever! But my drive back home was magnificent as winter is fast approaching and my favorite holiday asides my birthday of course, CHRISTMAS!

A big part of my Christmas tradition is to give a yearly upgrade to my Christmas playlist depending on what feels on theme for the year!

I drove into our aesthetically pleasing mansion, when my face dropped. There was someone in the house

Someone with a ……

BIKE…… that I have seen before

I walked into my house, hearing my father laugh so loud, I can't remember my father's laugh being that loud, who and what is making my father be all cheerful this evening.

Climbing the stairs, my sister Zoey was on her way down, I think she let out a soft hi, but my mind was clouded by the incident and statement she made during the weekend, what could she know? And how much does she know? I haven't had the balls to confront her yet, because as soft as she is, she can be a really hard nut to crack.

I passed my dad’s office when his really deep voice cheered my name out, almost giving me an heart attack.

I almost ran away when I heard a voice say

“Your second daughter is Zuri Banks”?

That voice sounded too too familiar and that was when it clicked. The guy that hit me with his bike last semester!

I turned, and oh wow, he does look a lot more put together than when I last saw him.

I let out a fake smile and walked into the office.

“Well, Zuri, meet my new Interning PA, Jordan Cole” my dad let out seeming more delightful than usual.

“We've met” I let out immediately

My dad with a look of surprise turned to Jordan.

“I thought you knew her from the media, and her whole embarrassing persona, not that you actually know her”

“I ran into her once sir, I didn't know she was YOUR daughter specifically” Jordan mentioned quite confidently

“Of course, you wouldn't know, do you see my picture anywhere?!” I interrupted

“Darling Zee, not today, not in front of our new visitor” my dad responded

Jordan let out a soft chuckle, like he found something amusing

I wonder what was funny to him exactly.

“Welcome to our home, I hope your stay isn't as miserable as we seem” I mentioned sarcastically

We narrowed our eyes at each other

My dad cleared his throat while looking at me sternly

But I didn't care, I was quite proud of myself for making a Bad first impression for the first time.

I turned my back and proceeded to leave the room

But I felt Jordan's eyes on me

I let my head turn a bit, and Alas! He was looking at me, he didn't have a judge-y look, or a weird look, it seemed like he was amused by something and was just….

Watching…

He smirked, and continued a conversation with my father as I left the room completely their voices soon became whispers.

And something told me

Jordan Cole wasn't about to be another random person passing through my life….. he was about to be a problem

……….

I didn't sleep well. Weird. Georgina's room has always been where I slept the best. I just stared at the ceiling There was pure silence Too silent. Not the kind that calms you, the kind that makes you think. My mind replayed everything from last night, the laughter, the warmth, then the message.“You always fall for the wrong person” My chest tightened. I exhaled calmly and reached for my phoneNo new notification No new message It was like last night didn't happen But it did I ran my fingers across my head and exhaled Maybe it was just a random hater trying to get to me, it's not the first time But still…… it felt too personal to be a random hater The person behind this……… KNEW ME A slight knock came from the door, before it finally opened. “Wakey wakey sleepy head” It was Georgina She brought French toast, scrambled eggs with orange juice I smiled softly She was calm, and soft like nothing had happened “Good morning” I responded back “Breakfast? I got to my car when I realized I didn't have my key. I turned and Jordan was already behind me He looked worried, he walked towards me gently “I forgot my keys” “You're not leaving until you tell me what's wrong” “I'm fine” “No you're not” “I am!” “You shouldn't be out here alone” “You shouldn't be following me” I sighed “Zuri, look at me, you're not fine, it's obvious” His eyes were locked with mine He moved closer to me and held my hands I removed them “Oh, I'm sorry if that made you uncomf- “No no, it's not you” I wondered if I could trust Jordan, seeing this file just made him seem clean in this whole mystery, but he was the only one there, could it mean he intentionally did it to make himself look less guilty? If that's possible, then he would have an accomplice His eyes were still fixed on mine He looked calm “I want my keys” “It's with me” he said Before I could say anything “You left it on your bag, and I'm not leaving here without you” I rolled my ey
