JACKSON’S POV

The door clicked shut behind me, but I couldn’t move. My fingers stayed locked around the handle, the cold metal biting into my palm as if grounding me to this moment—to her.

Karen.

The memory of her hit me like a punch to the gut. The way her breath had stuttered when my fingers brushed her wrist. The flush staining her cheeks, pink as dawn, betraying what her stubborn lips refused to say. And those eyes—wide, wary, flickering between defiance and something softer. Something afraid.

Mate. My wolf surged against my ribs, claws scraping bone. Ours.

I gritted my teeth. “I know.”

I’d known from the first second I caught her scent—wildflowers tangled with something sweet and sharp and achingly familiar. My body had recognized her before my mind could catch up, every muscle locking tight like she was the only thing worth holding onto in this world.

But she didn’t want to be held.

I’d seen it in the way she stiffened when I stepped too close, the way her fingers curled into fi

ALEX’S POVThe moment Jackson shoved me out of the way, everything slowed. I watched in stunned disbelief as Grayson’s claws missed me by a breath—only to tear into Jackson instead. And Jackson—gods—didn’t even flinch. He moved with ruthless precision, twisting away and slicing Grayson’s throat open with one clean, savage motion.Grayson’s eyes widened in shock, choking on his own blood as he dropped to his knees… then collapsed. Dead. Just like that.I didn’t move for a second. I couldn’t. Because for the first time in my life—he was gone. The man who ruled my world through violence and manipulation. The tyrant who tried to mold me into his image. The father who never saw me as enough unless I bled for him.Grayson. Dead. And Noah… my brother, gone too.I should’ve felt grief. But what I felt… was relief. Pure, gut-wrenching relief. Like a chain had been ripped from my chest. The door burst open with a crash, splinters flying.I turned just as Logan, my Beta, came storming in—and beh

JACKSON’S POVThe world narrowed to the pounding of my heart as I tore through the hallways, blood roaring in my ears, each step a promise. Smoke curled in the air, and the scent of battle clung to my skin—but I barely noticed. All I saw was red. All I felt was the rage burning in my chest. He took her. He hurt my mate. And now… I was going to end him.Grayson’s study door loomed ahead—still intact, untouched. Coward.I didn’t hesitate. With a roar, I slammed my shoulder into the heavy wood. It cracked off its hinges and burst open with a satisfying crash. Papers flew, books tumbled from shelves, and Grayson, seated behind his polished desk, looked up with the calm arrogance of a man who thought he still had the upper hand.“Ah,” he said, slowly rising, adjusting the cuffs of his shirt like we were about to have a damn business meeting. “The little pup finally finds his bite.”I stalked toward him, fists clenched, my wolf snarling just beneath the surface.“You made a mistake,” I said

ALEX’S POVI took a good look at Noah standing there now that we were face to face. His hair was longer than I remembered, tied messily at the back. Same arrogant stance, same twisted smirk on his face. Like he was proud of what he’d done, like he was ready to finish what he started months ago.“You came back,” he sneered, shrugging off his jacket. “Didn’t think you had it in you, brother.”I took a slow step forward, my claws already out, my wolf scratching just beneath the surface. I didn’t come back. I came to end this.He laughed. “End what, exactly? Your miserable existence once and for all?”I didn’t reply. Talking to him was like talking to poison.“You should’ve stayed gone,” he said, circling me now like a predator. “Father was going to let you rot, but you just had to crawl your way back into our lives. Thought you could be some hero?”“No,” I said, stepping into his path. “I don’t need to be a hero. I just need to stop a monster.”Claws clashed with a screech of metal again

KAREN’SThe sting on my cheek burned hot, and my vision blurred as I spat out blood onto the freezing floor. My whole body trembled—not from fear, but from rage.Alpha Grayson loomed in front of me, cold eyes locked on mine as he repeated the demand I’d heard too many times already. My cheek stung from the slap, my vision blurry as I spat blood on the cold floor. My body trembled, but it wasn’t fear—it was fury.“If you don’t give me what I want,” he said with cold eyes, “I’ll kill you before your precious mate Jackson even gets a whiff of where you are.”“I’d rather die than help you,” I spat back. The back of Noah’s hand struck me so hard my head whipped to the side. Pain burst across my face as I dropped to my knees. Grayson didn’t even flinch.“If she continues this attitude,” Grayson muttered as he turned to Noah, “end her.”Then he walked out like I was nothing more than trash.Noah crouched in front of me, eyes glinting with something dark and twisted. “You heard the man. I hav

ALEX’S POVThe snapping of dry wood filled the air as warriors gathered more logs for the fire, the sharp cracks echoing through the silent night. Each sound was steady, rhythmic—unnervingly normal. But my thoughts were anything but.I sat on the hood of my car, the cold metal biting into my thighs, my fingers curled into fists so tight my knuckles ached. The darkness stretched ahead of us, swallowing the road like a gaping maw, endless and suffocating. The deeper the night grew, the heavier the weight in my chest became, pressing down until I could barely breathe.I was going back.Back to the place I once called home. Back to the two monsters who shared my blood but had never once treated me like a son. Like a brother. Alpha Grayson and Noah. My father. My brother. By blood? Maybe. By choice? Never.Blood doesn’t make you family. Family doesn’t carve wounds into one son just to lift another. Family doesn’t sneer at you for being different, for daring to question their cruelty. Famil

LAILA’S POVThe moment the strategy meeting ended, the group dispersed like shadows melting into the dusk. My pulse thrummed in my throat as my gaze swept over the parked trucks, searching—until I found him.Alex.He stood beside his truck, the fading sunlight painting his face in streaks of gold and shadow. His fingers twisted the cap off a water bottle with slow, deliberate movements, his shoulders tense beneath the weight of unspoken memories. The sight of him—so outwardly composed, yet so clearly at war inside—sent a sharp ache through my chest. I swallowed hard and stepped forward, the crunch of gravel beneath my boots the only sound between us.He turned before I even spoke, his dark eyes flickering with something raw before softening at the sight of me."Hey," he murmured, holding out the water bottle without a word.My fingers brushed his as I took it, lingering just a second too long—just enough to feel the warmth of his skin, the roughness of his knuckles. A silent reassuran
