LOGINClara James POV
"Oh my God, I think I'm lost. How unlucky can I be?"
I tried calling my dad, but he didn’t pick up. I sat on the ground, hugging my knees.
It was already ten at night, and I was still sitting there, waiting for my dad to find me. I couldn’t stop crying. I was terrified.
"Why aren’t you answering?" I whispered, staring at his number as tears ran down my face.
"I have to find a way before midnight comes."
I got up and started walking. The deeper I went into the alley, the darker the streets of New York became. I saw a faint light at the end and ran toward it. Just as I was about to reach it, I bumped into someone and fell.
"Damn it! Are you blind?"
I looked up at the man in front of me, my foot throbbing. Blood was seeping through my shoe.
I turned on my phone’s flashlight and looked at the cut. Luckily, it was shallow. I lifted my phone toward his face and was about to speak when I froze.
He was handsome, with sharp, cold features. One hand in his pocket, slightly long hair with a couple of strands falling on his forehead, the rest tied in a low ponytail. His dark eyes looked at me with icy calm.
"What is a little girl doing in this alley so late?" His husky voice made my heart skip a beat.
I straightened up, glaring at him, and said with annoyance, "I’m not a little girl, and it’s none of your business what I’m doing here."
He raised his left eyebrow, clearly irritated.
"As if I bumped into a wall, not a human… My bones hurt."
I held my body in pain. He smiled briefly, but it disappeared so fast I wondered if I imagined it.
"I don’t have time to waste on this nonsense."
He said sharply and turned to leave. His steps were firm and fast. I stood there, unsure what to do. Then I grabbed my bag and ran after him.
"Sir! Wait… Sir!"
I ran up to him, but he kept walking with cold indifference.
"Please, sir… help me. I’m lost."
I begged, but he ignored me. I didn’t know what to do. I grabbed his hand and started sobbing.
"Please help me! I don’t know this city. I just moved here a week ago. I was at school, and when it ended, I got lost on the way home!"
I clutched his shirt. He stopped for a moment and looked at me.
"Please, sir… help me. I don’t know what to do."
I stood in front of him, holding his big hands in mine. He looked stunned. He tried to pull away, but I held on tighter.
"Please… don’t be stingy. Help me."
I looked at him with my wide, pleading eyes. He studied me for a long moment, then pulled his hands away and said coldly as he started walking again, "Follow me."
I didn’t understand immediately, but I ran after him, feeling relieved.
"Thank you so much."
I lightly tapped his back. He shot me a sharp look from the corner of his eye. I withdrew my hand immediately and stayed quiet.
We walked together until we reached a black Mercedes. He got into the driver’s seat. I stood frozen.
"Get in."
He ordered in a commanding tone. I opened the door and slid in beside him. He started the engine and drove off.
"Thank you, sir. You’re my savior."
I smiled at him brightly.
"What’s your home address?"
"257 Yeongdo-dong," I told him. He raised an eyebrow in surprise. My phone was already dead. I rested my head against the car window, watching the streets pass by.
"I think I went too far from home."
I glanced at him, but he ignored me, focused on the road. My eyes drifted to the sharp line of his neck… dangerously alluring.
I stared for a moment, then he turned and caught me looking.
"Looking for something?"
He said with a teasing edge. My hands trembled lightly from the tension. I murmured, "N… nothing."
I looked out the window for the rest of the ride, staying silent. I felt sleepy but couldn’t fall asleep.
When we entered my neighborhood, I shouted, "This is the neighborhood I live in!"
I said happily, looking at my house. My dad was sitting on the sidewalk, and Emilia stood behind him.
"That old hag looks happy… disgusting witch," I muttered, twisting my lips in disgust. He smiled faintly beside me.
"My wicked stepmother," I said, pointing at her.
The car stopped in front of the house. My dad looked at the car with surprise.
I rushed out, his eyes lighting up when he saw me. I threw myself into his arms, and he hugged me tightly, letting out a deep breath.
"Why didn’t you answer my calls? I was so scared." I cried.
He sighed regretfully. "I’m sorry, sweetheart. I was in a meeting and didn’t notice your calls. I tried calling you too, but you didn’t answer either."
He rubbed my back to calm me. I stepped back and looked into his eyes.
"I thought I lost my precious little girl."
He said with a choked voice, his eyes full of tears. I held his face in my hands.
"I’m here now, Dad… You won’t lose me that easily. I’ll stick to you like glue."
He smiled gently. My gaze shifted to Emilia, who was glaring at me.
"Someone doesn’t seem happy to see me," I said provocatively. She looked furious.
"Don’t worry, Emilia… I’ll stick around. You won’t get rid of me easily."
She was about to speak when the man who brought me closed the car door behind him.
Emilia looked at him, shocked, before she exclaimed in disbelief:
"My… brother? Adrian?!"
Could the man who saved me really be the brother of this wicked woman?
Clara James"Don't you have a fear of dogs?"Adrian hummed in satisfaction before starting the car. The entire neighborhood seemed to shake under the roar of the black Ferrari's engine as it cut through the streets."I got over that because of your dog."His voice came out low and deep while he drove steadily, his long fingers lightly tapping the steering wheel. I watched him for a moment before answering, studying the sharp line of his jaw and his dark eyes reflecting the lights of the road.I relaxed against the leather seat, breathing slowly as I tried to ignore his effect on me.He let out a quiet sarcastic hum."So you overcame one of your fears because of me... and I'll make you overcome all of them."Damn his tone. Every time he spoke, I felt as if something hot melted inside my stomach.I wet my lips before lifting my chin with fake confidence."Let's be more accurate... because of Bam, not because of you. At least Bam was nice to me, unlike you."A sarcastic laugh escaped him
Clara JamesI sprayed the last touch of perfume on my neck as my finishing touch, then lifted my gaze to the mirror. My cheeks... were still red from the detective's earlier touches.Oh God.I was wearing the dress Adrian had brought for me. White, with soft green flowers and leaves scattered across the fabric. It reached slightly below my knees and made me look more innocent than I actually was.I placed the lip balm inside my small bag before closing it.I had packed some clothes as Adrian asked me to... and I won't deny that my mind literally flew to Mars after his last words, but my curiosity was killing me more than my nervousness.I grabbed my bag and checked my appearance one last time before taking several deep breaths, waving my hand in front of my face as I tried to calm my blush."Calm down... it's not like he's going to sleep with you."I whispered to myself, lightly slapping my cheeks.I put on a black coat, turned around, and finally left my room."Adrian, please take me
Clara JamesI woke up at ten in the morning, sleep still clinging to my eyes as if I hadn't slept for days. A whole week had passed since that night... a week of completely avoiding my father. No talking. No looks. Not even sitting in the same place.I was relaxing in the warm bathtub, watching the steam rise around me absentmindedly while memories of what I did with Adrian attacked me without mercy.I remembered everything.Every word... every kiss... every crazy thing I did while drunk.I pretended to have forgotten all week because I was so embarrassed. As for him...He stayed by my side the whole time, taking care of me as if I were something precious he was afraid of breaking. Even that hag Emilia didn't dare say a single word while he was around. My father took my phone away, so I couldn't contact Natalie or Ethan all week. Natalie tried to come more than once, but he stopped her every time.My old maid told me that two girls had been killed inside that club... and of course, th
Clara James"Are you drinking alcohol, damn it?!"My father shouted with such anger that my whole body jolted.I froze in place.I couldn't say a word from how terrified I was. I just squeezed my trembling fingers together while my breath broke inside my chest. He came closer until his face was very close to mine, and his expression twisted further when his suspicions were confirmed."You're a child... How could you drink alcohol? Have you lost your mind?"I was going to cry again...I looked at him fearfully, but nothing in his expression changed. His anger only grew."Dad... I... didn't..."Even lying failed me.I couldn't form a single coherent sentence. He grabbed my shoulders roughly, making my body shake."I what?! Why are you acting like this? Why do you make me show you my other side? Why do you bring humiliation on yourself?!"He shook my body with every word he shouted, his voice echoing through the living room in a terrifying way.My eyes filled with tears instantly."Didn'
Clara James"Get in."Adrian ordered me in a domineering tone that made my femininity sink even deeper. When I remained standing for too long, he grabbed my wrist and placed his other hand above my head, then lowered my body slightly so I could get into the car easily.I sat in the front seat.It was unbelievably comfortable. He leaned over and fastened my seatbelt for me, a faint smile forming on his lips that threw my heart into chaos. As soon as he was done, he closed the door behind me and walked to the driver's seat.He buckled his seatbelt and drove off.I leaned back against the seat, my eyes never leaving his aura. One tattooed hand rested beside him, while the other held the steering wheel with an attractive steadiness. His eyes were on the road... but all his attention was on me.And I didn't stop talking excitedly about Gojo, about how much I loved him, and I think I even told him the entire anime story too.Adrian listened to me with strange attentiveness. Was it because h
Clara James"You will never touch me again."I shouted at Adrian with confidence, even though tears were still streaming down my face.Adrian walked toward me with calm steps, then took off his black coat and draped it over my shoulders. I immediately yanked it off and threw it to the floor."I don't need your filthy coat."I muttered, biting my lip hard as I tried to stop myself from crying.I cry easily... just like my mother. He completely ignored my words. Bending down, he picked up the coat and wrapped it around me again, this time so tightly that it nearly stole my breath."And I don't need your opinion."I tried to take it off again, but he tightened his hold on me. A gasp escaped my lips when he suddenly lifted me and tossed me over his shoulder as if I weighed nothing."Put me down right now!"I shouted angrily, pounding my fists against his back, but he smacked my backside hard enough to sting."Be quiet."I touched my backside in shock and whined in pain. That actually hurt
Clara James POV“I want both of these.”My attention shifted to the girl. I put my finger on my chin, thinking. I looked at the shelf in front of me—there were headbands with all kinds of shapes: bunny ears, bear ears, and more. My eyes landed on two headbands shaped like cat ears and mouse ears.T
Clara James POV“I missed the taste of your lips.”He murmured while sucking my lower lip. I closed my eyes and wrapped my arms around his neck, enjoying the kiss. One hand crushed my waist, the other held my neck, pulling me closer. The kiss turned wild and hungry. He did not stop at sucking my li
