Ch4: Rivalry and anger

She walked to the elevator without looking at who was there and hit the 13th-floor button. To calm her clouded mind she started tapping her foot on the floor matching the rhythm in her mind followed by humming the notes of ‘happy’ She looked up for cameras and found none ‘now it is time for some freestyling’ Cherry shake her hips in sexy moves followed by her entire body going with the rhythm, and before you know it she unintentionally creates her own stripping show performance. With the elevator doors were still closed no one could watch her perform, so she thought.

The elevator doors split open and Cherry made a majestic bow before straighten up. “And when you were in my car I thought you were some innocent damsel.” Cherry yelped losing her footing and nearly collide with the elevator doors as they were closing Rex quickly caught her and pulled her back.

“You, what are you doing here?” She snapped at him feeling exposed and embarrassed he watched her dance. Rex became vexed by what she said.

“Look little girl I might be friendly but I tolerate nothing from anyone so know your place.” He warned her.

“I know my place it is you who doesn’t. Watching someone dance is creepy.” She blurts out.

“Oh I’m sorry, I can’t help it being stuck with a stripper shaking her buttocks as my entertainment.” Cherry slapped him on the cheek glaring at him.

“How dare you son of a bitch.” She yelled in his face.

Rex’s face turned red that he looked like an over ripped tomato, so did the cheek she slapped. He was no longer calm or sweet, what he wanted was some revenge, hitting a woman was something he hated so he just glared at her with all the hate built inside him. They both stare at each other rage reflecting their features. Rex thought of cruel ways he could punish her without killing her but held them all inside, it was his to do.

The opening of the elevator doors was the only sound in the awkward silence. Despite the dinging noise of the elevator telling them they were good to go non of them was willing to stop the staring competition. 

“Never in your life call me that, little lady.” Rex said through gritted teeth. He grins his teeth so hard it hurt, it was his only escape not to hit her.

“Then watch your tongue.” Cherry pointed a finger at his chest. Rex grabbed her wrist with his big ones pulling her flush against his body. He felt the angels call him when a whiff from her perfume hits his nose.

‘yummy yum yum, very nice’

“Let go of me!” Cherry tried pushing against his chest but he was stronger than her. She looked up at him, her eyes held hate and hostility towards him that she wished she was taller or stronger to overpower him.

Rex unconsciously licked his lips as he gazed down at Cherry he was close to leaning forward to kiss Cherry when Ann, the rude receptionist interfered with a deep frown and a deadly glare directed at Cherry. It was now clear they missed their floor and the elevator was now on the ground floor. Ann managed to put on a fake smile and seductive look towards Rex while trying to sound polite.

“Mr Angelo what happened, you have a meeting scheduled right now.” She smiled briefly then turned her gaze to Cherry. “And you get to your desk stop loitering.” 

Cherry fiery gaze met with Ann, warning her to mind her own business and keep off ‘no one messes with me, so get going’ Cherry spoke in her head, she did not have the heart to say it out because of how Rex intimidated her with his tall huge frame.

“I am not the one loitering, you are.” Cherry gave Ann a surprise comeback which Ann wasn’t expecting. Cherry could see the rage in Ann’s eyes as she glared but as always she was good at masking it.

“If I may sir, let’s get to your meeting.” Ann tried to step into the elevator but Rex stopped her.

“No need she will do it.” He told her while his eyes were still on Cherry throwing daggers at her cute face.

“But-“ Ann looked at him confused he refused her to accompany him.

“Get away from here Ann.” He growled at Ann when she refused the elevator doors from closing. Ann could not object because he was her boss, she did not wait and stomped away angrily.

“I am going nowhere with you.” Cherry protests taking a step out of the elevator but got pulled back by Rex.

“Yes you are.” He whispered in her ear just as the elevator doors closed. Rex pulled her flushed against him caging her attempts to go free.

They reached the thirteenth floor with Cherry making a fuzz by kicking and crawling on his arms. Rex did not let go, the doors opened and he led them out more like carried her out. Cherry was very short and light, her weight was usually compared to carrying a roll of tissue paper. 

“Put me down.” She snapped, her legs dangling from the ground.

“Why can’t you be polite like you were minutes ago?” Rex growled in her ear secretly loving her snappish side.

“Don’t question me you have no right!” Cherry yelled and clawed on his arms with her sharp nails.

“You work for me, and I have the right to ask you. Now I am going to release you, try not to go crazy and do as you are told, am I clear?” Rex ordered her. Cherry froze for a moment to relax, it was hell trying to fight off a guy that wasn’t her size.

“You can’t manipulate me into obeying you, my boss can sue you!” Cherry played defensive failing to believe him. She was very highly convinced Rex wasn’t her boss and will never be. But as they say, the truth will surely be revealed one day.

“When will you accept the truth, you are so stubborn and naive. I own this place, I own everyone including you.” He spoke low and slow fanning his breath against her cheeks.

“You don’t own me you jerk.” Cherry rebelled.

“Yes I do.” He said as a matter of fact and threw her on a chair.

“Ow you hurt me.” She whined rubbing circles around her hip and butt.

“Sit there and type every file placed on the table. They should be in an excel format nothing else, that is your job today. Now get started.” Rex banged his hand on the stack of papers piled up on the mahogany table and left to his office.

“Controlling slimy son of a bitch.” Cherry muttered on her seat, she looks around the room exploring the interior, it was not a room rather a huge hallway with only her desk in the middle. 

Cherry eyed the passage Rex took before her eyes set on the stacked up files waiting for her. Cherry had no choice and picked up the files one after the other, arranging them alphabetically and neatly on her desk. She then switched on the flat screen monitor computer on her desk and typed each file into the computer.

Cherry might not have had a great educational background but she does have a handful knowledge about computers. Cherry although has a really big issue with computer usage, she is slow when typing.

Cherry was able to finish half of the work given to her within four hours which came with a lot of cussing and insults at Rex of course. She checked her phone time ‘ 5:45 pm’ 

“Did it really take me that long to finish half a stack of documents?” Cherry asked herself.

Determined that she needed to stand up to Rex she took the completed tasks in her hands and stomped to the passage Rex disappeared to, she followed the passage and found two doors one at the left and the other in front. Without trying to find the right door Cherry opened the nearest door which was the one at the left.

“Look I have spent so many hours typing this stupid, meaningless, tiring document and I need to go home. Don’t even think of saying anything and second of all you are not my boss. I am going to see my real boss, my employer!” Cherry spoke vehemently surprising Rex and all the guests in the room. 

Rex and his guests all turned their heads to Cherry, strange looks crossed their faces as they stared at Cherry. She burned in embarrassment and discomfort. No one said anything but Cherry knew what to do, she slid out the door and leaned against a wall, her heart raced as she tried to recollect what just happened and how she made a fool of her self.

“What the hell did I just do?”
