Sophie sat quietly beside Emma on the edge of the hospital bed, gently urging her to take another spoonful of the warm soup she had brought.

“Just one more, Emma. Please. You need to eat.”

Emma offered a weak smile and shook her head. “I’m okay, Sophie… really. I’ve had enough.”

Sophie sighed softly but didn’t push further. She closed the lid of the food flask and began packing up, wiping away the few crumbs and clearing the napkin Emma had used.

Emma whispered, “Thank you, Sophie. For everything.”

Sophie gave her a quick glance, then offered a soft smile. “You don’t need to thank me, Emma. What else am I here for?”

There was a brief silence before Emma looked around the room and asked, “Did David come by today?”

Sophie paused, then nodded. “Oh yes! I forgot to tell you; He stopped by this morning while you were still asleep.”

Emma blinked. “Oh… what did he say?”

Sophie looked at the flowers on the side table and pointed at the bouquet of fresh white lilies. “He brought those. Said he

"Christian... who is in the ER?"The question hung in the air like fog. Everyone went quiet. Emma looked around, her eyes narrowing, searching the faces of those around her—Christian, Grandpa, the guards, and even the silent Grace who kept her eyes closed, muttering prayers under her breath.Just then, the door to the ER opened, and Dr. Stan stepped out. As soon as he saw Emma in her wheelchair, he paused. Then, assuming she had already been informed of her daughter's accident, he walked directly towards her."Dr. Morgan," he began gently, his eyes holding a trace of pity, "your daughter is in a very critical state. She sustained a traumatic brain injury. The impact on her skull was severe, and she's currently undergoing emergency treatment to stabilize her condition."As Dr. Stan spoke, Emma stared at him blankly. She couldn’t hear the rest of his words. Her ears were ringing. Behind her, Sophie gasped in horror, but Emma remained still.Dr. Stan noticed her distant, confused express

The automatic doors of the emergency room burst open as paramedics rushed in, pushing a stretcher at full speed. On it lay unconscious and bloodied Claire—small and fragile, her face pale, and her head wrapped in blood-soaked gauze. The white hospital lights made the blood stains on her clothes even more horrifying.Grandpa ran beside the stretcher with the help of his butler, his face stricken with fear and disbelief. His usually calm eyes were wide with panic, and his hands trembled uncontrollably. Sarah was close behind, her face streaked with tears, her clothes stained with Claire’s blood. Grace also followed quickly, her eyes filled with tears as she kept mumbling words of prayer for little Claire. The hospital was chaotic. Doctors were shouting instructions while nurses rushed past, wheeling medical equipment. It was noisy, fast, and tense."Make way! Trauma case coming through!" one of the nurses called."We need the ER ready now! Code red!" a doctor yelled.Grandpa tried to ho

Emma’s heart pounded as the figure by the door slowly walked toward her. Her breathing grew shallow, and for a brief moment, fear wrapped tightly around her chest. But as the figure stepped into the light and his face became clear, Emma gasped and exhaled sharply.“Christian! You scared me!” she whispered, a weak smile curling on her lips as she rested back against her pillow.Christian’s lips curved into a small, apologetic smile. "I’m sorry, my love. I didn’t mean to startle you. I saw Sophie outside, and she said she went out to get something for you. When I came in, I thought you were asleep. I didn’t want to disturb you."Emma nodded slowly, still catching her breath. The tension in her body eased as she looked at him.Christian moved closer and pulled a chair beside her bed. “How are you feeling?”Emma gave a faint nod. “Much better now. A bit weak, but… better.”Her eyes suddenly became distant and dropped for a moment before lifting again to meet his.“Christian… I really thou

Emma slowly opened her eyes, the brightness from the hospital room forcing her to squint. Everything was blurry at first—the shapes, the sounds, the soft beeping of the machines near her bed. Her body felt heavy, like it had been asleep for years, and her mind swam through a thick fog of memory and pain. But then, as her vision gradually cleared, she looked around her. She recognized the ward immediately; she was in the City Hospital where she worked. She slowly turned to the right, and that was when she saw him.Her father. He was slouched on the chair beside her bed, his head bent forward slightly, dozing off with one hand resting on the edge of her blanket. His tie was loosened, and the dark circles under his eyes made it obvious he hadn’t slept well. When Emma saw her father seated there, that was when reality and an overwhelming wave of emotion hit her… She was safe. She was alive. She had made it out alive!Tears rolled down her cheeks quietly. The memories of the kidnap inciden

“It’s Allison,” Isabel said quickly. “I haven’t been able to reach her for days. Her line's been off. I think David has something to do with it. I’m worried, Mathew. Something feels very wrong.”Mathew didn’t interrupt her. He just stood there, arms folded, watching her speak with wide, anxious eyes. Of course, he already knew that Allison was missing.David had told him what he and Christian had done to her—how they made Gavin not mention anything about her involvement with Emma's kidnap in court, and how she was currently being detained, punished, and locked up by Christian. They didn't want her just locked up in prison... it would be too easy for her. Mathew had silently given his approval. To him, he still felt that David was too lenient towards Allison, but knowing that Christian was involved, he was reassured that Allison would pay dearly. Now, looking at Isabel's distressed face, there was no sympathy in him. If anything, he felt irritation… even contempt. A part of him wishe
