CAREFREE BUT UNTOUCHABLE

LUCIAN’S POV

“Goodnight dad”

I said as I stood up and left the study.

Tonight he gave me my first mission in the last month of being his heir, and I wasn’t going to disappoint him. I had only one mission : to monitor the movements of Adrien Montrega, my father's rival son.

My father Roberto Santoro and Victor Montrega have been enemies for the longest of times, the Santoro’s and Montrega’s have been enemies for a long time and it has been passed down from generation’s to generation’s and I am no exception but honestly, I`ve got no problem with this Adrien guy if he does not mess with me then I won’t but my dad need’s to threaten his father to gain the upper hand in an arm’s deal.

 It shouldn’t be hard. All I have to do is monitor the places he goes to frequently and tell my dad then my dad threatens his dad with it . It is as simple as that, right?

I hope that is all I have to do because I don’t want to kill anyone before I take over. At least not an innocent person, if I must kill it should at least be a bad person, but I don’t even know him yet.

I guess whether he lives or not depends on who he truly is. The day after tomorrow I get to work, luckily for me he goes to the same university as me so it shouldn’t be a problem, right?

 “Sir these are the documents your father said you should revise before embarking on your mission”

 I was almost at my room when Morale informed me

“I said to call me by my name when we are alone”

As I took the files from him with a confused expression I asked

“Are these all about one person, is he some kind of god?”

Morale chuckled

 “Are you laughing at me? Huh what’s funny?”

I asked jokingly.

“It’s not only information on him, it’s the history of the Santoro family and important information on the business and a briefing on what you are going to say next week during the meeting for the arms deal, your father will be introducing you as his heir but as of now”

He said pulling a file from the stack of files

“This is where your focus should be”

He said pointing at Adrien Montrega’s file

“What does my father plan on doing with him? When I asked him earlier he didn’t answer me”

“You’ll know when the time comes” he replied as he bowed saying “goodnight lucy”

And left.

I waited till he was not in sight any more and pulled my phone out dialing Natalie’s number as I made my way to my room.

 “Did you get home safely?”

I said as I placed the files on my desk

“Yes, did you?”

 She replied, how wouldn’t I get home safely when I am always heavily guarded? I chuckled at the question.

“Did you just laugh?”

She asked,

“No”

I said realizing she heard me

“I chuckled at your stupidity, you are drunk to the extent of making hearing stuff”

I added

“Are you making fun of  what's going on? I have a splitting headache right now”

 “Take some medication and sleep goodnight”

I said

“Goodnight Lucy, see you later”

She replied ending the call.

“Now where do I start?”

I said to myself as I faced the files on my desk.

ADRIEN`S POV

Here I was doing what I was forbade to do, writing song’s, music has always been my passion since I was young but my dad won’t let me pursue it because unfortunately for me and I must inherit his so called dynasty he built

“ugh” I said as I tore another paper from my music book, I don’t like lying to Isabella but I was just not in the mood for taking anyone shopping I didn’t want my bad energy rubbing of on her, I can still see the disappointed look she had on face when I said I couldn’t come because I had a project to submit and that it was urgent. I didn’t mean to lie but it was for a good cause, wasn’t it?

“fuck” I tore another one

“Who dares curse aside from me” my dad said as he opened the door of my room, “Mi hijo, what are you writing?” he asked with a devilish grin on his face as he picked my music book, what did he want now? I was already frustrated enough as it is

 “What do you want Papi?” I asked. He only ever addressed me in Spanish when he was going to make me do something I didn’t want to do

“I am not here to fight Mi hijo I have come to tell you that you are not going to be excluded from the meeting next week, so you need to be prepared I will have the documents sent to you, I’m sure your time would be put to good use if you do that, rather than writing nonsense” he said as he tore my book, now that was the height of madness but I was used to it by now

“If that is all you came to say you are excused” I said as I stood up “ooh that’s a new one my original is still safe, so you just got rid of a piece of trash for me thanks Papi” I said pointing to the torn notebook, he was trying to get on my nerves by tearing the notebook but I knew just how to turn the tables on him

“Adrien I’m not here to pick a fight I just want you to face reality, you will never be able to pursue your music career and I suppose you will do your best at the meeting, all the deals you’ve handled have come out great so don’t disappoint son, we are counting on you both I and Isabella” he said as he patted me on my shoulder and turned to leave

I knew he was threatening me but I still needed to ask “why must I attend this meeting? I never had to attend to these meetings, I always operated from behind the scenes, is there a reason for my appearance?” I asked

“There is a reason son, you know the Santoros right?”

“Yes, your age long rival, what has he got to do with it? I asked confused

“He will be introducing his heir and only son into our world by letting him speak on his behalf, what a fool he is, I introduced you into this business before his son yet he thinks he can outshine me, you must speak and act better than him Adrien we must outshine them, do you understand?” he inquired

“I will not become part of some charade dad so forget it” I said as I sat down

“You know what will happen if you don’t Adrien I don’t need to remind you, do I?” he asked

How could I forget Isabela, “you are shameless using your own daughter as a tool to control your son, I feel disgusted by just looking at you” I said angrily as I got up to face him.
