 (Damon's POV)

I went back to my office after visiting the auction house.

Elias looked so calm that it gave me chills. Something about him didn't feel right.

I sat down in my chair. Then I looked at the files Marco had brought me earlier.

I opened one of the files and read it carefully.

"Someone else is playing this game with me," I thought. "These fake identities can't just be a coincidence.

Whoever is behind this is always one step ahead of me. But the real question is... whose side are they on?"

The last clue in the file pointed to an old, abandoned building.

I picked up my phone and called Marco.

He answered right away.

"Hello, boss," he said in a calm voice.

"Marco," I said, "I want you to check that abandoned building.

It's the last clue in the file. Find out everything you can and report back to me."

"Yes, boss," he replied.

I ended the call. A few seconds later, Sebastian walked into my office.

"Hey, Uncle," he said.

Uncle Sebastian looked at me for a few seconds.

"You look confused," he said. "What's bothering you?"

I sat down in my chair and took a deep breath.

"Someone has been playing this game with me before I even knew I was part of it," I said.

I pointed at the file lying on my desk.

"This abandoned building could be the clue that leads me to the other person behind all of this."

Uncle Sebastian picked up the file and looked through it. After a moment, he looked at me.

"Tell me what you find when you get back," he said. "I have a meeting to attend."

"Sure, Uncle," I replied.

He stood up and left my office. A few moments later, Marco rushed into the room.

"Sir," he said, "all the information about that building has been erased." I stayed silent for a few seconds. My heart started beating faster.

Then I looked at Marco. "Do you have the location of the building?" I asked.

Yes, sir," Marco said.

I looked at my watch.

"Get the car ready," I said. "We're going there now."

Marco nodded and quickly left.

A little later, we arrived at the place where the abandoned building was. The whole area was quiet. It was so still that I could hear even the smallest sound.

I looked around, but I couldn't see anyone.

"It looks like this place has been left alone for a long time," I said.

I told Marco to see if we could get inside. He walked to the front door, but it was locked. Then he walked around the building. A few moments later, he found a back door that was unlocked.

He went inside first to make sure it was safe. After checking the building, he came back to me.

"It's safe, sir," he said.

I walked into the building and looked around for anything that could give me a clue. Old papers were scattered all over the floor. The room was covered in dust.

Then I noticed a file lying on the ground.

I bent down, picked it up, and looked at it.

The pages inside the file showed  proof that someone had made a payment.

The payment was between a company and a man. The name on the paper was Mr. Donald Smith.

I turned to Marco, who was still looking around the room.

"Track down Mr. Donald Smith," I said. "He may be the clue we've been looking for."

Marco took out his laptop and typed in the name. A few seconds later, Donald's information appeared on the screen, along with his home address.

"Take me there," I said.

We got into the car and drove away.

At Donald's house, two men dressed in black sat inside a black Ford Jeep. They were watching the house carefully.

A few minutes later, Donald came outside with a bag of trash. He walked toward the garbage bin and threw it away.

As he turned to go back inside, one of the men got out of the Jeep and walked toward him.

Donald turned around to see who was coming but before he could say a word, the man pulled out a dagger and stabbed him.

Donald tried to fight back, but the attacker stabbed him again. He fell to the ground.

The killer quickly grabbed him and acted as if he was only helping an injured man back into his house.

A few minutes later, the killer came out of the house and drove away.

When Marco and I arrived at Donald's house, many people were already there.

Police officers and medical workers surrounded the area. Using my influence, I was allowed to enter the house.

Inside, I saw Donald's wife crying.

A few moments later, the medical team carried Donald's body on a stretcher and placed it inside the ambulance.

Marco walked over to me.

"The inspector said Donald was killed today," he said. "He was stabbed to death."

I turned and looked out the window, I clenched my fists.

Anger filled my heart.

Someone had killed the only person who could have given me answers.

I looked at Marco.

"Help the police with the investigation," I said. "See if you can find out who the killer is."

"Yes, sir," Marco replied.

He nodded and walked away.

I got into my car and sat quietly, now I was sure of one thing. The second person behind this mystery knew I was getting close.

And now the game has become a mind.

When I got back to my office, I loosened my tie and rolled up one sleeve. Then I stood by the window with a glass of whiskey in my hand.

I kept thinking about one thing. How did the man in the shadows know that I was going to see Donald?

My uncle came into the office and said, “Marco told me what happened. You must be very confused.”

I took a deep breath, sipped my whiskey, and said to Uncle Sebastian, “Every crime leaves a clue, no matter how carefully it is planned. All I need to do is stay patient.”

Uncle Sebastian smiled and said, “Then let’s see how you solve this mystery.”

Elias PovMy phone suddenly rang while I was sitting quietly. I looked at the screen and saw that it was Mrs. Holloway calling. For a moment, I wondered why she was calling me. How are you?” she asked.“I’m fine, ma’am,” I replied, even though I knew I was not completely fine. There was a short silence before she spoke again.“If you are fine, then why haven’t you been coming to work for the past few days?”I knew I could not avoid the question forever, so I decided to tell her a little of the truth.“I’m not feeling very well. That’s why I have been on treatment for the past few days.”“Oh, I’m sorry about that, Elias,” she said. Her voice immediately became softer. “Maybe I should come and visit you after work. While I’m coming, I can make some muffins for you.”A small smile appeared on my face.“Thank you

Elias's POVI asked for permission to leave the auction house early. I told everyone I wanted to rest, but that wasn't the real reason. The truth was, I needed some time alone. So many things had happened, and my mind was full of questions. When I got home, I sat quietly in my living room. The house felt empty and silent.Knock! Knock! Knock!Someone was at my door.I frowned."I wasn't expecting anyone," I said to myself.I didn't have many friends, and no one usually came to visit me. The knocking continued, louder this time.I stood up slowly but didn't open the door right away."What if it's someone dangerous?" I wondered.I looked around the room and saw my father's old baseball bat leaning against the wall.
