CHAPTER FOUR.

LUCAN'S POV.

It was Saturday already, I had just finished my morning exercise and was doing some work in my study when I heard the doorbell ring. Since I lived alone, I had to go get it myself.

I opened the door and it was her, the girl I have been longing to see since yesterday and she looked more feminine today with her off shoulder gown and bag. Part of me was really happy to see her until I saw another lady beside her and creased my eyebrows.

" sir Lucan, I have come to collect the payment" she spoke with a sneer in her voice like she didn't want to be in my presence, well I couldn't blame her. I treated her badly yesterday.

" Good morning sir" Nini greeted from behind, she was really excited to see Lucan Lim and just as Mica thought the first time, she could also see the magazines and papers didn't do justice to his handsomeness.

" Didn't they teach you to greet? Your friend is sensible enough to acknowledge my presence". I spoke to the lady standing in front of me but she wouldn't bulge.

" I am sorry I did not see you there?" Mica replied arrogantly, the way he treated her in his office yesterday was still fresh in her memory and she wouldn't let him off so easily.

" Well, since you are such a busy brain, I will see how you will get your money" I replied and walked back into the house leaving the two of them standing outside. After a while I could hear the sound of their shoes on my marble floor and I knew they entered the house.

" Oh my word" Nini exclaimed, the house was magnificent and it was mostly made of glass and everything was white, not a single color was inside the house. Right from the floor to the ceiling, it was all white,

" Is this a house in a movie or is this heaven" Nini asked again, even Mica too was dumbfounded at the sight of the house. Never in her life did she think something like this existed.

" Your house is really beautiful sir" the other lady spoke to me and I nodded in appreciation. The one who I wanted her to speak only kept looking around in satisfaction but didn't say a word to me. After a while she made to say something and my eyes lit up.

" Can you give us the money and let's go?We will be late for lessons".

" Why was this lady so stuck up" I muttered under my breath, " well it's on the dining table on your left, go and get it" I replied and walked back to my study, If she would keep behaving like I didn't exist then there was no reason to stand there.

" Where are you going?" Mica asked as she 

saw me leaving.

" Take your money and go" I didn't bother to turn back and went to my study. At least her friend was better than her in showing courtesy.

" Did he get angry?" Nini asked Mica and the latter shrugged.

" I told you right Nini, he is not so great. Let's go".

" What a shame but it is a privilege to have seen him though, I will cherish this moment forever".

" Suit yourself Nini" she replied and they walked out of the house.

I sat in my study listening to all they had to say until they went out of the house. Sure that Nini likes me but her friend didn't have anything great to say about me. I was not usually a person who chased after other people, It was the other way round but because my heart kept beating fast for this girl, I wanted to see her more often but it seems she felt suffocated in my presence.

What could I do? This was how I am and everyone knew it.

" Well it's her loss then" I said to myself and continued my work, then I heard my door open again, I thought she came back but the air was different and I knew exactly who had come….meredith. 

I ignored her presence until I felt her walk into the study, looking as ravishing as always. If there was one thing Meredith loved doing was dolling herself up, she loved to look good and command attention. I found out she was my mate a very long time ago but I still couldn't accept that fact, she is the one who keeps clinging onto me like some fly. Who the hell made such decisions should be punished because even as a hybrid, I couldn't escape from the fact that I have a mate but what made me more special to the rest of my clan was that I was more faster, smarter and stronger than them and I couldn't age no matter how long it was. This was how I have been living all these years and I  didn't know if I should be proud of my parents for making me have such abilities or I should curse them for making me an object of attention.

" Hey baby" Meridth said walking up to me,she was dressed in a red sleeveless gown and part of her cleavage was visible.

" Why are you here?".

" I just saw two girls leaving your house,who are they?" She ignored my question.

" It's none of your business, I asked why you are here?".

She scoffed, " why would I be here if not to see you, Lucan?" She asked back, sitting opposite from me. She was really pretty I could say but I have no interest in her.

" I am busy, you may leave" I said and turned back to my work but she didn't make a move, rather she kept on staring at me.

" Didn't you hear me? I asked again".

" You should calm down darling, I am here to stay for a few days".

" What?" I snapped, she can't stay in my house for a few days. I hated someone touching my things, especially not the woman I dislike.

" We are bound to get married sooner or later Lucan, and moreover all the years we have spent together, you have never allowed me to stay in your house but today, you can't kick me out so do well to treat me nicely okay".

I was lost for words at her courage and determination, it seems I have been too easy on her lately and she feels like I have become weak.

" You will go back the same way you came, Meredith," I snapped angrily.

She smiled and touched my cheeks, " you can't hurt your mate can you?" Asking that she stood up and walked out of the study.

" What the hell is wrong with everyone?" I asked myself as I watched her slender figure going out of the room.
