DOWNCASTER, SULLEN GROUNDS

A young man rushed towards the front door, following him was a man in his mid fifties with a visible frown on his face. The old man has been incessantly calling him but it was futile ever since they've left his chamber.

"Master Devonne, sir. Your father strictly instructed us that you will not leave the house without anyone going out with you." The old man strictly told the young man.

"Please, Mr. Mercer! A chaperone? You got to be joking?" The young man exclaimed in disbelief.

He stopped at the bottom of the stairs and stared blankly at the man who has been reprimanding him regarding his current engagements. When the old man started nagging him about his latest activtity, he walked towards the door. Devonne clearly understands his grounds but he has reached a certain age and a chaperone is no longer necessary.

"I understand your sentiments, young man, but you are not just a normal citizen traveling to Paris. Another uninformed engagements towards Paris will no longer be tolerated." The butler said in finality.

"Bloody hell! You are starting to sound like father!" Then he rolled his eyes and held the knob.

He was quite surprised to find a FedEx delivery man standing outside the door. A wide smile instantly formed on his lips. Devonne opened the door enough for the delivery man to enter. The butler who was about to say something raised his eyebrow to their visitor.

"How can I help?" The butler inquired. Devonne put his hands on the delivery man's shoulder which startled the man his age.

"He's with me." Devonne stated.

"Please sign here, sir." The delivery man handed him the papers.

He signed everything and motioned the rest of the team to bring what he packaged. Four people carefully carried a huge portrait. The painting was not visible for it was carried upside down.

"Just put it in the corner. Thank you very much," And he handed them quite amount for a tip which brightened the faces of the FedEx personnel.

"How generous of you." A sarcastic comment from the butler. Devonne chose to ignore him.

He walked towards the portrait placed under the huge canvass. A cloth was covering the beauty it beholds so he snatched it off. Devonne wasn't intrigued about the portrait he bought but by the visible nervous reaction of the butler beside him. The butler stepped back.

"Good lord." Was the only thing he managed to utter.

Catherine and Hector were on the portrait. Proudly standing side by side.
