“Roman Vayne and Eldon Thorne.” The instructor handing out field assignments calls in a loud voice. “The two of you will form a team for your excavation. You’ll be heading to Nimmak for your assignment.”

The territory of Nimmak is a small agricultural town on the outskirts of Veldora, home to farmers and factory workers who tend its vast stretches of fertile land.

The soil here is so rich that the crops grow unusually large and healthy. That bounty makes the place a constant target. Monsters that don’t even feed on grain are drawn by the heavy scent of life it carries because where crops thrive, prey always follows. Deer. Livestock. Humans. Other monsters.

Normally, magic barriers protect the fields from the forest. But lately, monsters have adapted. Some have even evolved to cross over.

That’s why we’re here. An S-rank mission to cull the growing horde before they become something more dangerous than they already are.
