Zara’s POV

The words were already out from my mouth. I had said it without thinking, It was a secret I hadn't admitted to myself.

I could feel how tensed Rael was, his breathing had quicken and still there was no words from him. His head was still ressed against mine, eyes closed.

"Did you hear me Rael?" I whispered softly.

Rael’s eyes were closed. I waited patiently but he didn't move.

I leaned back just a breath, enough to look at him fully. “Rael.”

His eyes opened.

He looked at me like he was seeing something dangerousand beautiful. Something he wasn’t sure he could touch without breaking it.

“I did,” he said finally. Voice hoarse. “I heard you.” he muttered.

That was all he said, he didn't say he loved me back or was it because he once told me he did and I couldn't say it back?

Rael's hands interupted my thoughts. He touched my face, brushing a strand of hair from it slowly. I expected hunger in his touch, maybe possession. What I didn’t expect was reverence.

Rael was still quiet

Zara’s POV “She’s not your sister.”Rael said it without hesitation. No preamble or pity, just fact.I stood frozen, my back to him, staring out at nothing. My own reflection hovered in the window like a ghost. Not my sister? No. Of course she wasn’t; that’s why it hurt so perfectly. Rael placed the file on the table behind me. I didn’t turn.“She’s Silas’s daughter,” he said. “From another woman.”The air snapped in my lungs like it had teeth.“Her name is Mara Leclair. She was born three years after Silas married your mother. He kept her hidden.”I finally turned around.“What?”Rael’s eyes were steady but his jaw was tense.“She’s your half-sister, Zara but only through him. Your mother… she wasn’t Mara’s.”I stared at him. My hands felt too light; my chest felt heavy.“She’s not adopted?”“No.”“She’s his?”“Yes.” Rael muttered.“She lived in my house,” I whispered. “She wore my clothes. She slept in my bed when I had nightmares.”“She was placed in your life on purpose.”“To do

“You’ve got the wrong person.” Rael’s voice cut like steel between us cold and unshakable. He stepped in front of me so fast I didn’t register the movement until I was staring at his back instead of her face.Mara.“I’m sorry,” she stammered behind him. “I... I thought…”“You thought wrong,” he said flatly. My heart slammed once and hard. I kept my head down, sunglasses on, and lips pressed tight.“Zara?” she tried again, softer now. “It’s me… It’s Mara.”I said nothing; I didn't blink or move. Rael didn’t either."As I have said earlier, you got the wrong person." Rael said, getting irritated. "Keep walking," he added“I just...” Mara’s voice cracked. “I saw her and she looked like...”“You’re mistaken.”His tone didn’t rise, didn’t shift but it vibrated with threat and still, she didn’t back off.“It’s her. I know it’s her,” Mara insisted. “Zara, please...”Rael’s hand brushed mine briefly and firmly.I turned and walked fast without hesitating or reacting. The guards moved with u

Rael's POVThey say Alphas don’t beg but as I watched Zara walk through the glass doors of the boutique, hair tousled, skin still flushed from what we did in that dressing room I knew I would. If she asked. She looked like sin bottled in silk and the worst part? Every man turned to look at Zara. I made eye contact with two both looked away. Smart. My guards flanked behind us, quiet, hulking shadows in tailored black. They knew better than to speak.Zara Kade was beside me and the world was about to fucking see it.“Hungry?” I asked, pulling open the rear car door for her.She slid in without answering, her perfume hitting me like a memory I didn’t deserve.Once inside, she glanced out the window. "Yeah..."This wasn’t just a dinner. This was a declaration. Tonight, I wouldn’t mark her with teeth I’d do it with attention. The restaurant sat like a jewel box at the top of the city. A rooftop crown of glass and golden light. OThree guards took positions at the perimeter. Two followed d

Zara's POVRael didn't stay and I didn't bother to tell him to stay, I was still a little bit pissed about hididng the blood pact from me but somehow, we hadn't shattered. We’d held each other in the ruins.A soft knock broke the silence.“Come in,” I called, voice thick with sleep. Olivia walked in her maid uniform. Olivia was holding a silver tray with a note and something glittering on it. "Good morning Luna, this is from the Alpha, he said you should read this before coming down for breakfast.I raised a brow. “He’s already planning my day?”Olivia smiled faintly. “Perhaps just part of it.”She left before I could question her further, and I reached for the envelope. My name was scrawled across the front in ink I recognized slanted, deliberate, his.Inside: a single line.Don’t dress for war today. Dress for you, meet me in the southern garden.I blinked. Beneath the note, nestled in the velvet, was a bottle of perfume the one I’d tested once, weeks ago, during an idle walk past

  • Luna By Blackmail   Chapter 23

Rael’s POVThe door clicked shut behind her, and I knew exactly what Lena had done.Of course it was her. No one else had the audacity to lock two people in a room built for war.I didn’t turn around. I couldn't. My hands braced the mantel like if I let go, I'd turn into the very thing I fought to bury. The silence was thick. I could feel her behind me, I could smell her whatever Lena made her wear, it was working. My wolf perked. My jaw clenched. She didn’t speak either. Smart.Minutes passed.“Say something,” she said finally, voice sharp, brittle.I didn’t. Not at first. I was still choking on the last thing I saw her lips on the man's mouth, that bastard’s hands around her waist. Staged or not, the image kept flashing behind my eyes like lightning.“I didn’t ask to be here,” I said. She scoffed. “Neither did I.”Another silence. I turned. Slowly. She looked like sin and stormlight. Dressed in that deep red like she didn’t know what it was doing to me. Or maybe she did. Maybe that
