Freya’s POV

The pack council chamber's tall windows let in the morning sun, but the warmth of the light did little to relieve the icy tension within. As Sophia spoke to the council, I stood at the far end of the hall, out of sight but within earshot.

Sophia stated calmly but firmly that "we must question the decisions being made." "Letting a rogue and a rejected mate meddle in the business of our pack? It's careless.

Throughout the room, there were murmurs of agreement.

"She's right," an elder remarked. "Kane has always been a strong leader, but this... This has never happened before.

Sophia pretended to be worried. "While I would never doubt Kane's commitment, I am concerned that his feelings may be impairing his judgment."

Her comments caused my hands to clench. With each well-chosen word, she was sowing doubt, and the council was consuming it.

"This is ridiculous," I said to myself, my annoyance erupting.

My arm was touched by Lucian, who had been resting idly against the wall next to me. Let her speak. She is causing her demise.

I dismissed him. They are being turned against Kane by her. The truth must be told to them.

"And they will," Lucian stated in a steady, subdued voice. But not just yet. The timing is crucial.

Even though it required all my self-control, I reluctantly remained where I was.

Kane convened a meeting in the war room later that day. As they stood on opposite sides of the table, each looking at the other like wolves about to charge, the tension between him and Lucian was evident.

"We must concentrate on defence," Lucian stated in a stern voice. "The rogues are well-organized. Your pack won't have a chance if you don't get ready today.

And what makes you worthy of my trust? Kane fired back. "It's possible that you're guiding them directly to us."

Lucian grinned. "I wouldn't be here wasting my time arguing with you if I wanted this pack destroyed."

Kane's gaze grew strained. "That is precisely what a person with a hidden agenda would say."

I put up my hands and moved between them. "Enough! This is not something we have time for. Working together is essential if we are to stop the rogues from coming.

The two men looked at me, their animosity temporarily diverted.

After a lengthy silence, Lucian replied, "She's right." "We need to work together, but we don't have to like each other."

Kane crossed his arms, his face still hard. "All right. But you're dead the moment you cross the line, rogue.

Lucian laughed. "Noted."

Although far from perfect, the tense ceasefire was a beginning.

I ended up walking around the pack's training grounds that night in an attempt to decompress. My feelings were a jumbled mess, and I was unable to ignore the internal struggle that was intensifying.

Despite everything, I had feelings for Kane. A part of me still longed for him even though he had rejected me and crushed my heart.

Then Lucian appeared. Despite his harsh exterior, he had consistently shown loyalty and support. He had been there for me when no one else was, and he had saved my life.

"How are things going with you? I was startled out of my reverie by Lucian's words.

He was casually resting against a tree with his arms folded as I turned around.

I said, "I'm fine," but my voice lacked confidence.

His eyebrows went up, obviously not convinced. "Your voice doesn't sound good."

With a sigh, I combed through my hair. It's simply... everything. Kane, the rogues, the pack... you.

Lucian took a step forward, his eyes growing softer. "You don't need to solve everything at once. Simply take each step as it comes.

Despite their simplicity, his comments had a weight that helped to reduce the tension in my chest.

"Thanks," I muttered.

When he smiled, the mayhem around us appeared to temporarily subside.

The tranquillity was short-lived. An alarm sounded through the group as the moon started to rise. I ran toward the chaos as shouts resonated throughout the area.

A rogue was pinned to the ground by a gang of warriors when I got there. Snarling and swearing, he fought against their hold, but they held.

"What's happening? As he got closer, Kane made a demand that demanded urgent attention.

One of the fighters remarked, "We caught this rogue sneaking through the western border." "His goal was to conceal himself."

Kane took a step closer, his eyes calculating and cold. "What are you doing here, and who are you?"

The Alpha was only enraged by the rogue's disobedience, as he spat at Kane's feet.

Kane whispered in a low, vicious voice, "I'll ask again." "What brings you here?"

"Looks like your precious pack isn't as secure as you thought, Alpha," the rogue said with a sly smile as his eyes darted to me.

The rogue's taunting was silenced when Kane's fist struck his jaw. "You won't live to see the sunrise if you don't start talking."

The rogue's laughter was cold and empty. "It's too late. They're on their way. Your pack will not survive.

As his words took hold, a shiver went down my spine.

What is he trying to say? I asked, hardly raising my voice above a whisper.

Lucian, who had been standing next to me, scowled. "It indicates the imminence of the attack."

When Kane turned to face his soldiers, his face clouded. Put him in jail. I want to secure every square inch of our area. No one enters or exits without my consent.

I kept thinking that we were running out of time as the rogue was being hauled away.

A feeling of dread descended upon me as I lay awake in my bed that evening. I kept thinking about the rogue's comments, which served as a sobering reminder of the danger.

My eyes suddenly blazed with a vision. The buildings were on fire, and the Blueblood Pack was in disarray as the wolves battled valiantly to protect their home. Kane stood in the middle of the chaos, wounded and bloody, his life on the line.

The vision vanished as fast as it had appeared, and I gasped. My heart was pounding, and I was confident that the worst was still to come.

Freya’s POVI was constantly pacing. Since Lucian had departed, the knot in my stomach had only become tighter. He had insisted on going even though his goal was suicidal."Kane, what's causing your composure?" I glared at him and demanded. Freya’s POVThe weight of what lay ahead made the morning air chilly. With his arms folded and a gloomy look on his face, Kane stood next to me at the training grounds. The pack crowded around us, their faces displaying a mixture of resolve and terror.Kane said, "We all know what we're up against," in a firm yet solemn tone. "Sophia won't give up until she ruins all we value. However, we will not let her. We are more powerful as a team than any adversary. Have faith in each other, in your training, and yourselves. This is something we can win.For the first time in days, I noticed optimism in their eyes as a wave of accord swept over the audience.“You have a way of inspiring them,” Kane said to me as the pack scattered to get ready.I gave a small smile. Their motions were rigid and unsure."Cease! I yelled. They turned to face me and halted, their eyes widening."Freya? One of them, Lina, a young girl, inquired nervously."You're doing it completely incorrectly," I said as I moved forward. "You have too little footing. In a struggle, you'll lose your equilibrium.I adopted the appropriate posture and spoke in a forceful yet gentle tone. similar to this. Freya’s POVThe conflict left a cloud in its wake. The once-pristine Blueblood land was now scarred with destruction. As the sunrise painted the sky in pink and orange hues, I sat close to the training grounds' edge. However, the beauty didn't do much to calm my inner storm."What just took place over there? "Freya, you accomplished something amazing. However, I must know... Are you aware of who you are?"I gave a headshake. "I don't. This strength... It appears it appeared suddenly. Freya’s POVThe air was clear and quiet in the early morning, the kind of quiet that raised the hairs on the back of my neck. After hearing Sophia and Liam's plans the previous evening, I was unable to sleep and stood close to the edge of the training fields."Freya! As he ran at me, one of the warriors yelled out. His eyes were wide and his voice sounded frantic. "The rogues are to blame! They have arrived!"My heart fell. I turned to see the dark figures of rogues rising from the tree line, their eyes glimmering with a wild desire, and my stomach knotted."Come to the main house, everyone!
