Freya’s POV

I had the unshakeable impression that something was seriously amiss. I kept thinking about the warning from the rogue spy, and the increasing hostility in the pack only made it worse. More must be happening than anyone was acknowledging.

Later that night, I was standing in front of Liam's cabin, trying to figure out what was going on. In the Blueblood Pack, he was one of the few individuals I had faith in, but now...

With my heart racing, I knocked on the door. Liam waited a long moment before opening it. He appeared startled to see me, but as soon as he saw how serious my eyes were, his demeanour hardened.

"Freya? He inquired. "What is this about?"

I said, "I need to talk to you," and entered without asking permission. "The rogue spy is the subject."

Liam's gaze wavered, but he soon collected himself. How about him?"

I looked closely at him, attempting to read his face. "When we caught him, you were behaving strangely. I have been hearing rumours. Tales of treachery.

Liam's mouth clenched. Rumours? You ought to be wise enough to avoid listening to rumours.

I firmly stated, "I don't listen to gossip." "I pay attention to the facts."

He hesitated for a long moment, and I could see the tension in his eyes. He sighed at last.

"I'm not the enemy, Freya. My entire life, I have been devoted to the pack.

I squinted. "There's a problem, but I'm not accusing you. I must know your position.

Liam began to move uneasily. "You're acting suspiciously. No one has betrayed you. You're simply allowing your feelings to influence your decisions.

His remarks didn't seem correct. I could detect tiny hints of something different hiding beneath his façade, fissures in it. I wanted to push more, but he retreated before I could.

"This is not something I have time for. Later, we will discuss.

Without waiting for me to finish speaking, he shut the door.

I didn't believe what Liam was saying. However, there wasn't much I could do about it yet. As I made my way back to the main home, still digesting the chat, my mind was racing. I couldn't exactly put the pieces together, but I had a feeling that the truth was right in front of me.

One of the pack warriors drew me aside as soon as I stepped into the pack house.

"Freya," he whispered in a quiet, desperate voice. "You must accompany me. Right now.

I followed him, bewildered, down the hall past the pack members' quarters until we arrived at the council chamber. I could hear voices within, and the door was ajar.

Sophia's voice, full of icy authority, was unmistakable: "I don't care what anyone else says." "Freya poses a risk. She must be dealt with since she is a rogue sympathizer.

The sound of her words made me freeze. My chest was racing with my heart.

Liam's voice, which sounded abnormally stern, replied, "I'm not the one who's been getting cosy with rogues." "Don't bring me into it; I have no idea what you're trying to do."

I cautiously remained hidden as I peered inside. Liam leaned against the wall, appearing uneasy, while Sophia stood at the council table, her stance assured and intimidating.

Sophia smiled mischievously and continued, "Liam, you have a part to play." "I want Freya to appear culpable. I'll make sure everyone knows you've been supporting her the entire time if you don't help me.

I could see Liam's fists gripping at his sides as his face clenched. "All right," he mumbled grudgingly. "You had better not to cross me, though."

Sophia gave a charming smile. "Liam, don't worry. You will have just what you desire.

With a beating heart, I withdrew. They were scheming to harm me. All along, I was correct. They were attempting to set me up.

Before the word spread, I had just returned to my room. All of the pack members were invited to a public meeting that Sophia had organized. There was nothing I could do but go.

The council hall was crowded with fighters, pack members, and people who agreed with Sophia's assertion. I took a seat close to the rear, my heart heaving from what I had heard.

Kane stood at the front, staring down at the crowd with harsh eyes. Threats have been coming at us from all sides. Betrayals, spies, and rogues. And now there is someone among us who is attempting to dismantle this bundle.

My stomach rumbled. It was this. They were going to make a false accusation against me.

Sophia smiled smugly and stepped forward. "The traitor has come to light. The spurned-mate, Freya, has always collaborated with the rogues. We cannot afford to keep her here any longer, and she shows no devotion to this pack.

The crowd said, and I could sense that everyone in the group was watching me.

Then Kane said something. Although he spoke in a calm tone, I didn't anticipate the edge in his voice.

He turned to her and said, "Enough, Sophia." "I will not accept charges without supporting documentation."

Sophia's eyes went wide with surprise. After everything that had transpired between us, she hadn't anticipated that he would stand up for me.

Kane said, turning to face me, "Freya is not our enemy. She is a member of this pack, and anyone who questions that will have to answer to me."

Unable to believe what I was hearing, I stood motionless. Was Kane standing up for me in public? Was the man who had turned me away, who had ignored me as if I were unimportant, now defending me?

Sophia's face flushed with rage. "You're not serious! She poses a danger! She will ruin all our hard work!"

Kane's face grew serious. "You've been fired, Sophia. I'm going to stop listening to this bullshit.

Sophia gave him a fierce look, but she was at a loss for words. I could feel the room's weight change as she bounded out of the hallway. While some of the pack members continued to stare at me suspiciously, others gave me a more respectful gaze.

I couldn't concentrate on that just now, but I wasn't sure what Kane's abrupt change of heart meant. I needed to know what Liam and Sophia were up to.

I crept out of my room that night as the moon was high in the sky. I needed to know what Liam and Sophia were up to.

I stayed out of sight, following them from a distance. Their voices were low and frantic as they met in the shadows close to the pack grounds' edge.

"Time is almost here," Sophia remarked. "Everything is set up. Kane will have to decide between his pack and his emotions once Freya falls.

Anxiety tightened Liam's voice. "This bothers me. It feels incorrect.

Sophia's chuckle was harsh and icy. "It's too late to change my mind now. We will lose everything if we don't take this action. I'm taking the required steps to ensure the pack's survival.

After a period of silence, Liam spoke once again. What if Kane discovers?"

He will then have to decide. However, it will be too late by then.

My breath caught in my throat as I took a step back. I was done listening. Everything that Kane had worked so hard to achieve was going to be destroyed. And I was a pawn in their game.

When I realized how deeply they had betrayed me, my heart began to race. I wasn't the only one involved. Everything was at stake: Kane, the pack, and the future that we all desired.

With my heart racing, I turned and ran back to the safety of my room. However, I couldn't get rid of the sensation that I was about to fall into a trap. Someone I previously trusted created a trap for me.

It was a matter of my emotions and the pack's future. And before it was too late, I needed to figure out how to stop Liam and Sophia.

The pack crowded around us, their faces displaying a mixture of resolve and terror.Kane said, "We all know what we're up against," in a firm yet solemn tone. "Sophia won't give up until she ruins all we value. However, we will not let her. Freya’s POVThe conflict left a cloud in its wake. The once-pristine Blueblood land was now scarred with destruction.
