Chapter 6

Meeting Nicole and Matthew was the best thing in Kate's life, now she doesn't have to worry about her mother's condition, because her mother is in good hands, Nicole took her to the hospital to get the best treatment, she is indebted to the kindness of Nicole and Matthew.

Day after day passed, Kate and Nicole increasingly showed their closeness, Mona had also returned to work and now it was Raya's turn to take the day off. Because they sleep in the same place, of course Mona and Kate become close, but Kate's closeness to Nicole is enough to attract Mona and Raya's attention, especially Matthew, her Alpha. Since Nicole genuinely considers Kate to be her best friend, they spend a lot of time together and not once did Mona and Raya feel jealous because of that.

Like that day, Mona saw Kate and Nicole having fun in the backyard, she didn't prepare dinner, because it was Mona's job. Mona looked jealous but she had to hold back because they were working at the time. It was 5 pm, finally Kate and Nicole went inside, Kate approached Mona who was cooking in the kitchen.

"Mona, how can I help you?" Kate said.

"Oh nothing, I can do it myself" Mona said.

"Okay, then I'll take a shower first, I'll do the dirty dishes later" Kate said and Mona just nodded.

Going down to her room, Kate felt that Mona's attitude towards her was a bit strange, she felt Mona seemed to be ignoring her, she couldn't just stay silent, she had to ask Mona about that after she finished making dinner.

After having dinner with her mate, Nicole started talking with Matt, that's what they have to do after dinner.

"Matt," Nicole said.

"Hmm," Matt looked at her.

"This week Kate and I are going to the hospital to see her mother," Nicole said.

"Okay then, and you remember next week I will be on duty in Japan for 3 days, have you decided whether to come with me or not?" he said.

"Ah about that, I think i'm not coming with you, I'll just stay at home, maybe I can visit her mom more often since you're not home" Nicole said.

"Nicole, do you realize that if you and Kate are getting closer by the day, I'm worried that Mona and Raya will be jealous of your closeness," Matt said.

"What do you mean? I do the same thing to all my maids" Nicole said.

"Really? Maybe you don't realize that you are with Kate more often, even every time we talk you always discuss her, I know maybe among our three maids, she is the one who makes you most comfortable but still she is just your maid, don't get too close to her," Matt said.

"Why can't I be close to her? and why should they feel jealous? I've never treated them differently," Nicole said.

"Okay, I think we've talked enough for tonight, I'm tired and want to rest," Matt got up from his chair and went into the room.

Nicole does sometimes like to show her selfish attitude, but for an Omega who already has a mate, that attitude shouldn't be shown to her Alpha.

On the other hand, Kate, who at that time saw Mona sitting at the dining table, approached her and sat there, she felt bad if something happened between them.

"Mona," Kate said.

"What?" she said.

"Did I do wrong?" Kate said, Mona turned to Kate.

"What do you mean?" she said.

"I don't know if it's just me but I feel like you are ignoring me" Kate said.

"Kate, to be honest, maybe it's not your fault, but I'm a little jealous of your closeness to Mrs. Nicole, she is a very good employer but aren't we just her maids? at least give her some distance," Mona said.

"I'm sorry if my closeness and Mrs. Nicole made you jealous, but I didn't mean anything, I often refused her offers, but she always forced me to accompany her, and I also owe her because she took my mother to the hospital, I can't refuse, she's my employer," Kate says.

"I know, that's why I don't blame you, I know it's not your fault, it's just that I feel that her treatment of you is a little strange, Raya and I have worked with her for a long time but she has never treated us that closely, maybe you are different, but I don't see the difference between you and us," Mona said.

"Yeah, I thought that too at first, but I'm just a maid, is it right for me to think bad things about my own employer? I mean, she didn't treat me badly, we just don't know why she's like that to me," Kate says.

It had been in her mind since the first day she worked there, but what she said was true, whatever Nicole did to her wasn't something bad, it was a good thing that she couldn't just turn down. She was just a maid whose job it was to obey.

That day, as Nicole promised Kate, they went to visit Kate's mother at the hospital, it was still quite early for them to come there, Kate prepared breakfast for herself and Nicole. When they got to the hospital, they went into her mother's room. At that time her mother had woken up and had just finished breakfast.

"Mom I missed you" Kate walked over to her mother on the bed and hugged her.

"Ah my Kitty, I missed you too" Her Mother said.

"Morning Mrs. Julie" Nicole said, she also went over to her mother Kate's bed.

"Morning Nicole, thanks for coming here," her mother said.

"I really wanted to see you, we should have breakfast together but it looks like you just finished your breakfast," Nicole said.

"Yeah, I just finished my breakfast, haven't you two had breakfast yet?" her mother said.

"Not yet mom, but I have prepared breakfast for both of us" Kate says and she holds up the paper bag in her hand.

"Then you should have breakfast first," her mother said.

"Yeah, I was really hungry," Nicole said.

"Ah then let's eat first ma'am, mom I'll be back soon" Kate said and she invited Nicole to eat in the hospital canteen.

"I made sandwiches for breakfast, these are your favorite ma'am." Kate took a sandwich out of her paper bag and handed it to Nicole.

For almost half a year she worked there, Kate really understood a lot of things, from what Nicole likes to what Nicole doesn't like, not only Nicole but what Matthew likes and dislikes too.

"Hm, you never fail to amaze me with your cooking, it's really good" Nicole said.

"It's just a sandwich I often make for you ma'am," Kate said.

"But it feels different, like something new you gave me" Nicole said and Kate just smiled.

"Kate," Nicole said.

"Yes ma'am," Kate looked at Nicole before her.

"You know that I really want a child, but I can't because I'm infertile. I know Matt also hid about my condition from his parents especially his father, I just don't want to embarrass him, he's an Alpha and I'm sure he wants it too, he just never told me," Nicole said.

"Yes ma'am I know about that you already said that and I thought there might be something else you could do" Kate said and Nicole placed her sandwich on the counter.

"Actually there is one way that the doctor suggested to me, but I'm not sure about this way, because I don't know who will do it for me," Nicole said.

"What do you mean ma'am? what way does it need someone else?" Kate said.

"The doctor said I could do Gestational surrogacy," Nicole said.

"I'm sorry ma'am, but I don't know what Gestational surrogacy is?" Kate said.

"The doctor said my uterus was unhealthy and IVF wouldn't work, if my problem was in my uterus, then the best option the doctor suggested for me was Gestational surrogacy or renting a uterus from another woman, I would rent the woman's uterus to conceive my child and Matt," Nicole said and Kate just paused, she slowly put down her sandwich.

"What..what do you mean they're going to put your egg and Mr. Matt's sperm into that woman to be fertilized?" Kate said.

"Yeah something like that, it's the only way Matt and I can have a kid," Nicole said.

"Then, have you found out who that woman is?" Kate said.

"Kate, the doctor said the woman must be healthy and have good genes, because it will affect the condition of my baby in her womb, and I have already chosen who that person will be," Nicole said.

"Who's she?" Kate said.

"You" Nicole said and as soon as Kate let go of the sandwich in her hands, she could only stare at Nicole before her with her trembling and teary eyes.

Was this the reason for her good attitude toward Kate all these time?
