Thirty

Leah charges at me, swinging her claws around, flailing. I dodge each claw aiming at me as I jump up an eye level and land another fast straight punch to Leah's jaw, and her head whip back, her body arch backward, all of her momentum snapping back in her like a broken rubber. She lifted right up off her toes, clearing the ground. For one long moment, her body hung in the air. Then she landed with a thud that shook the ground.

I paint and brush myself, feeling the adrenaline inside wearing off. I'm losing so much energy that I collapse to the floor.

"Lippy!" I turned my head slightly but was pulled into Dominic's embrace. He pulls back and cups my face as I stare at his distraught expression. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," I giggle to ease the tension going on and have Dominic be less worried.

I hear a snapping of the bones behind us. Leah screams, and at high speed, she disappears in a blink of an eye.
