LOGINLEA’S POV The night air burned in my lungs as I breezed out of the pack house. I didn’t even recall the moment I had stepped out of the pack gate, or even the guards that had tried to stop me, or the path I was now running down through. The only thing I was focused on was the urgent beating of my heart and the desperate need for answers. The neighbouring pack wasn't far away from our pack, and they often used it to trade goods. The outline of the pack's buildings and structures came into view after a few seconds of nonstop running. My legs ached, and my breathing was uneven. My thoughts were muddled up together, and I could barely make sense of them. What if it’s true? I shoved the question aside and pushed myself forward, my legs shaking from exhaustion now, but I kept going until I reached a small building that I had heard of before. It was the place where the midwives worked. It was tucked away between two large buildings, and the faint glow of light spilling from the open window
LEA’S POV Food poured out of my mouth like a wave, and my hands were planted on the floor on each side of the pool of vomit, my body trembling as I struggled to breathe through everything.“Hey...hey, are you okay?” Rowan asked, his voice closer now and filled with worry.“I–I’m fine,” I managed to say, but it came out weak and unconvincing, even to my own ears.A few seconds later, another wave hit me, but it was harder this time. I didn’t have time to react before the force of it made its way up again, leaving me breathless and my body trembling as I pulled away sharply.I couldn’t stay here.“I need...” my voice cracked slightly as I pushed myself up, stumbling as I rose. “I need to go.”I didn’t wait for Rowan to give me a response. I turned away immediately and hurried back down the path, my legs shaking as I fought against another wave of nausea that was rising in my throat. My hands pressed against my stomach, like that alone would help calm it down. My vision grew blurry as I
LEA’S POV The room fell silent, and gasps echoed in the air, and I could tell everyone was shocked. I could barely even register the shocked look on my face due to the violent, sick feeling that gripped me, my body shaking as I tried to catch my breath.Humiliation only hit me after a while, as I could now feel everyone’s eyes on me. I turned slowly, seeing each eye staring at me with judgment in them. My breath caught in my throat.“I–“ my voice came out strained and barely audible, even to myself. What do I possibly even say?I didn’t want to stay there any longer. Without sparing anyone another glance, I turned and scampered out of the dye house, my steps scattered as I pushed through the door and into the corridor. My chest heaved, my stomach beginning to churn violently again.I rushed to the nearest bathroom and stumbled inside, barely making it to the toilet bowl as another wave crashed over me. I dropped to my knees as it hit me again, my hands bracing the edge of the toilet
LEA’S POV Rowan’s hands closed around my wrist before I could get too far. The sudden content sent a jolt through me that made my body tense up as I came to a halt. For a second, I just stood there, unable to turn around. My chest felt tight again, the familiar pressure pressing down hard on me, making it hard to breathe.“Lea.”His voice was softer than I thought it would be. He didn’t sound angry. He sounded...hurt.Slowly, I turned to face him.He stood there, still holding my wrist, his eyebrows knitted together in confusion. There was a hint of something in his eyes that made my breath hitch. His eyes searched my face like he was trying to understand what had changed, what had made me walk past him like he was nothing.“Please, don’t start avoiding me like this again,” he said softly. “If you keep doing that, I won’t be able to live with myself.”His words weren’t harsh, but they landed hard on me, making something heavy settle in my chest. I met his gaze, and there was no judgm
LEA’S POV Days went by, and it all blurred together like time had lost its meaning. I moved through the days, feeling like I wasn’t really living them. Morning would come, then afternoon, and then night, but none of what happened through the day really settled in my mind. All of it felt distant, like I was watching myself move through the day from afar.I was like a shell, hollow and detached, left behind and discarded.I worked; that was all I could do.If my hands were busy, if I kept scrubbing, carrying, arranging, filling the soil, cleaning, then maybe I would stop myself from thinking. Maybe I wouldn’t remember the way his voice had sounded, the way the harsh sound had landed on me, and the way it had completely shattered everything inside of me.I kept working, like I was a machine, like I was something that didn’t have emotions. But unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to keep my mind still.I would find myself pausing in the middle of a taste, staring blankly at the wall, my tho
LEA’S POV Amreth didn’t wait. His lips trailed over my neck, down to my breasts. He cupped it, flicking his tongue over my pert nipple. Desire ran through my veins, making my body shudder as I bit down on my lower lip. His eyes met mine as he revealed his hard throbbing manhood, before positioning it at my slick entrance.“Amreth–“I choked on my words as he slammed into me, filling me up to the hilt. A jolt of shock ran through my body, and when he moved back slowly, pleasure ignited through me. A guttural groan rumbled through his throat as he thrust into me again, and the pace only increased from there. My hands curled into the sheets beneath me with each thrust that drove the air from my lungs. My body rocked with the force of his movements. The friction, the fullness of him, everything was enough for pleasure to wash over me completely. My thoughts were nothing but scrambled, incoherent nonsense at that moment.Amreth groaned again, grabbing my wrists with one hand and pinning
