Chandra's Rebirth

Giving yourself the chance to move past past shortcomings is what it means to be given a second shot in life. It involves modifying your outlook on potential outcomes for the better. Having a second life makes you want to work even harder.

"She's dead already. Burn her body and throw her ashes into the river. That's a punishment for murdering my son." The alpha ordered his men and walked out of the prison.

Amanda smiled happily upon seeing the lifeless body of Chandra, the former Luna of the pack.

"What about now, alpha? Our pack lost a mother to assist you in managing the pack's affairs. It will be too hard for you to handle everything just by yourself. I do not want to underestimate your ability as an alpha but we lost a mother figure." The gamma asks the alpha about the open position.

"Lost a mother figure? We have Amanda right here. As my secondary wife, she is fit to be a new Luna for the pack." Alpha replied with no sign of hesitation.

"Really? Is that true, alpha? Do you want me to be the new Luna? I thank you for your grace." Amanda happily uttered.

"I know that you would fit for that position. Despite your issues about your fertility right now, I am sure that the Moon Goddess will soon bless you with a child, which I know is what you truly want." Alpha seems to be sad about Amanda's infertility.

It seems like all of his Lunas are cursed. They are all unable to bear a child that will inherit his throne. Having no heir as an alpha is such a major failure for him despite all of his accomplishments. He has no choice but to look for a new woman aside from his current Luna to get pregnant. He has to have at least one heir.

Meanwhile, Chandra's body may seem to be lifeless but her consciousness is alive. She woke up in a dark room with no single light that could enter.

"Where am I? Am I dead already?" She shouted.

"Helloooo… Can anybody hear me? What is this place? Help! Somebody please help me." She called for help again but she couldn't hear a single sound. The place is pitch black and filled with a deafening silence.

The last memory she had is the betrayal of the people she trusted the most and killing her through drinking a liquid poison given by her own husband.

"I am lost. I do not know what kind of place this is. Where am I?" She yelled again hoping that someone could hear her.

"Chandra…" A call from a familiar voice behind her. As soon as she looked at the direction of the voice, the room was finally filled with a bright light. She could not clearly see who was talking so she squinted her eyes but the light was still too bright for her.

"Who are you?" She asks as she sees a figure of a human slowly approaching her.

"Chandra…" The woman called her name again.

"Mother? Mother, is that you? Am I dead too?" Chandra could not believe what she is seeing right now. It is her mother who died a long time ago.

"Chandra, you are here. Does that mean that you died too? But you are still too young. What happened to you, Chandra?" Her mother was saddened by her early death. Even though her mother is happy upon seeing her again, she was still heartbroken to see her daughter end her life journey so young.

"Mother, it is a long story. I will let you know about it later. Tell me first where we are? Is this the world of the dead?" She asks her mother.

"Yes it is, Chandra. This is where all of the dead people go after they die." Her mother replied.

"Does that mean I could now see all of our relatives that have been long dead? Grandfather? Grandmother? And all of our ancestors?" Chandra questioned again which caused her mother to excitedly nod as a response.

"Mother, I want to see them. You have no clue how much I missed them, especially you." She hugged her mother so tight as if she didn't want to let her go. It's been more than a decade since she saw her mother.

"I missed you too, Chandra. I always want to see you but as soon as I remember that you are in your father's care, I feel at ease. Because I knew that he can protect you at all costs." Her mother's tears completely burst.

"I'm Alarick, I believe we've met before, right Luna?" Said the man who approached her.

"You do not look familiar to me. How did you know that I have become a Luna?" Chandra asks the man with obvious confusion.

"Chandra, do you really become the Luna of the pack?" Her proud mom asks her. Chandra just bitterly smiles and confirms it. She was disheartened as she remembered her life as a Luna before.

"But Alarick, right? Where did you know me? I am certain that you are not a member of our pack." Chandra asks the strange man again.

"You have saved me from a rogue before but unfortunately, I was killed by my brother who wants the throne for himself. I was not able to thank you for saving me and I am a bit glad that I could say it in person." Alarick explained himself.

"A man who is greedy for power can really kill another man to preserve himself." Chandra just uttered.

She could not believe how many people could possibly die just because they are a threat to someone's power. How many innocent lives like her will be put to an end for other people to secure their position?

A brighter light suddenly shines in between their conversation. Everyone kneeled down and bowed to the light.

"What is happening?" Chandra curiously asks.

"It is the Moon Goddess. She is the light that you are currently seeing right now." Her mom replied and pulled her to do the same.

The bright light roamed around and stopped in front of her.

"Chandra…" She was called by the Moon Goddess.

"I was looking for you." The Moon Goddess added.

"Moon Goddess…" Chandra bows and she greets the deity.

"I know I have spoken ill to you but I didn't mean to do it. I was just angry at the situation. And I am willing to accept my punishment." Chandra bravely said.

"Who said that I'm going to punish you?" The Moon Goddess asks her.

"Moon Goddess, I cannot comprehend what you want to say. Please enlighten me." Chandra humbled herself and asked for the deity's guidance since she doesn't know what is going on.

"You are right, Chandra. Your life has become unfair to you. To show you that I am listening to all of your cries, I am going to give you my blessing."

"Blessing? What kind of blessing?" A look of puzzlement crossed Chandra's face.

"You will be reborn to start your life over. I will send you to the time when you are still a common member of the pack and not yet a Luna. I will give you this second life to correct your mistakes and to make your decisions better. I am hoping that you will not waste your second chance." The Moon Goddess then touches her head which causes her to pass out.

"Chandra… Chandra… Chandra…" Her senses comes back as soon as someone is calling her name.

She slowly opened her eyes and saw her father waking her up. She was currently on her own chamber before she became a Luna. It has been a long time since she visit this chamber. She have realized that she rarely visits her father as soon as she get married to the alpha.

"Father" She weakly called her father's attention. She does not know why her back hurts and it seems like everything on her body is sore.

"Chandra! Goodness, you are awake. You made me very worried." Her father look so relieved when he saw her daughter gains consciousness.

It is real. The Moon Goddess' blessing is real. It is not just a dream. She is alive! And this is the start of her second life. She may not know why the Moon Goddess gave her another shot but she has to make things work. There is no room for another mistake.

"Father, what happened? Why I feel like my entire body is so painful?" She has no idea what is going on, especially that she has never been this sick or injured before.

"You surely don't remember anything?" The beta asks her. He seems to have a suspicion that she is just faking it to avoid punishment.

"I really don't. As soon as I woke up, I could hardly move my limbs. What happened to me father? How did I get hurt? Who did this to me?" She anxiously asks her father.

"You got hurt because you climbed a tree. You fell from the tree which caused you to be unconscious for three days. I have been worried sick about you. I already told you to stop climbing such a high tree but you just keep on defying my orders. Starting right now, I forbid you to get out of the house until you are already recovered. Am I understood, Chandra?" Her father may look so strict but everyone could see how loving he is of his only child.

Chandra is the only remnant that he has from his dead wife. Through Chandra, he was not able to forget his wife. That is why, as long as he can, he always protects Chandra at all costs even if his life is at stake.

"I apologize for my actions, father. I am so sorry for not following your orders. I have been so immature that I never thought about the consequences of my actions. Starting from now on, I will always obey you." Chandra feels guilty of her actions. She just understands how hard it is for her father to raise such a wild child like her in the past.

"I must say that I am amazed at how quick you get to mature. If I know that this accident will only make you become a good child, I already pushed you a long time ago." Her father remarks jokingly. He was surprised at how quickly her daughter matured.

"Father!" Chandra exclaims and finally joins her father from laughing.

"Alright, alright, I was just kidding. You have to rest well because next week will be a grand day for everyone in the pack." Beta suggested to her.

"Grand day for the pack? But why? What day is today? What is going on next week?" She continuously asks her father tons of questions.

"Next week is the selection week for Adolfo's wife. The alpha already asks me to let you join the selection. You are already 16 so you are now qualified for the selection." Beta explained to her.

Adolfo is not yet the alpha and he still does not have a wife. That means that she could still have a chance not to be selected as his wife.

"I don't want to go." She simply uttered.

"You do not want to go, but why? You have been so excited for this time to come. And now, you decided not to go? This is compulsory for all women in the pack. You can't just back out because you want to. Chandra, this is one of your duties as a daughter of our clan. If you are selected to be Adolfo's wife, it will be a great pride of our clan." Her father convinces her to go but she is still reluctant to do so.

"I have to think about it, father. But now, I have to focus on recuperating." She stated before she goes back to sleep for her to rest.

Even though she wants to have a simple and peaceful life, she still has to show filial piety to her clan. A big decision must be made so she must think of a bigger plan to resolve this dilemma
