Luna's Rebirth

Marriage indeed can stand without love but staying in a marriage without love is like serving a life imprisonment together with an incompatible person.

It was a gloomy afternoon when Chandra went home. She is the Luna of the pack and the wife of Adolfo, the alpha. She keeps on squeezing her eyes shut, then opening them wide in an effort to stay awake. Her body would almost drop on the ground for being too tired from dealing with the affairs of the pack. Ever since she married the alpha of the pack, she was given an important position which gave her excessive responsibilities to handle. Despite it, she still manages to accomplish it.

"I am the Luna of the pack, the mother of all wolves under the management of the alpha. I must do my best to fulfill my responsibility. I must not feel even a little bit of exhaustion." She tried to inspire herself with those words but it was useless because she just found herself yawning after finishing those sentences.

She was about to open the front door of their house when she realized that it was already open.

"Wait, how come the door has been opened? Did I forget to lock it? But I am sure that I locked it before I left. Could it be… " Her confusion was wiped out when she smelled a familiar scent - it was her husband who was inside their house.

But her husband? Why did he go home so early? That is so unusual of him to go home before the sun goes down.

"A-alpha… You are here." She stuttered when she asks as a look of puzzlement mirrors across her face.

"Why are you so surprised to see me here? After all, this is also my house. You do not have to act like you are confused why I am here." the alpha replied emotionlessly.

The baffled Luna was just surprised that her husband went home early. It might be because for the whole duration of their marriage, the alpha had rarely come back home this early. He always spends his time doing "unfaithful" deeds behind his wife's back. Luna was all aware about this yet continued to ignore it because of her love towards the alpha.

"It is good that you are already here. Let me cook and serve dinner for you." Luna cheerfully stated as if all her tiredness went away. For her, her husband is her strength.

"You haven't cooked yet? What are you doing here that you can't do your job well? That's the only job that you are able to do here and you still can't do that properly! Are you slacking off again Luna?" The alpha insulted her.

Luna was already used to hearing these slurs and insults, not just from the alpha but also in the whole pack. Despite having a high position on the pack, she still can't deny that her wolf was the weakest Omega. And that is the primary reason why she was belittled by some other members of the pack.

"I apologize. I know it is my fault. I was just caught up by the responsibilities that I must carry out on the pack. This will not happen again. I promise, alpha." She regretfully acknowledged her mistakes.

"I did not know that pack's Luna is so incompetent. You must know how to manage your time in order to fulfill all of your obligations." He bluntly said without considering Luna's feelings. He just always said what's in his mind without realizing the effect of it into his wife's emotions.

Even though his husband's words clearly struck her heart, she acted like it was normal and nothing happened. For how many years they spent together, she must have accepted his abusive side.

After they got married, he was always cold to her. His gazes towards his wife were basically plain and with no love at all. Their relationship as husband and wife were clearly not an epitome of a good marriage. There was no spark even them having sex. It was like they were just completing a task or something. The hurt Luna was obviously not happy with their union but had no choice but to stay. He was the alpha and she must obey him. Aside from that, she loves him and despite the overflowing reasons to hate her jerk husband, she can't do it because her love for him is much stronger.

"So, what do you want to eat for dinner? It is great that you came home early so that you will be able to choose our meal tonight." She enthusiastically asks him. This is one of the rare chances for her to impress his husband and bond with him.

"Don't bother. You can cook whatever you want. I am not hungry anyway." His frigid response makes the situation more awkward.

"You have been busy managing the pack these days and I know how frustrating that is. Please, let me help by serving you a dinner that you truly like." She was determined to do everything just to touch his heart so that she would have a chance to mate with him and bear an heir.

"Chandra…" The alpha called her by her real name. She almost did not recognize her own name considering how long it had not been used.

She froze for a moment. Her heart suddenly skipped a beat. She did not know what to feel. Should she be happy that the alpha called her by her real name? Or should she be afraid that she might unintentionally anger him? She never heard the alpha called her by that name for so many years. As soon as she was proclaimed as the Luna of the pack, the alpha was simply addressing her as "Luna".

"Y-yes, alpha. W-what is i-it?" She did not mean to stumble her words but she can't help her nervous self. It is really visible that both her hands and knees were trembling.

"I told you already not to cook for me. I am not eating here anyway." He declared.

"But why? Are you really not that hungry to skip your dinner?" She stopped, and peered intently at him. She was puzzled by her husband's reply.

"I am just here to tell you that Amanda is pregnant with my heir." He calmly said yet his voice was filled with authority and his face was painted casually. It was like he was talking about something not so important like the weather or other such shallow topics.

At first, the hopeless Luna just stared at her husband in disbelief. She knew that her beloved husband was cheating behind her back but she could not believe what she just heard from her husband's mouth.

"Amanda? W-what? But how? Why would you do such a thing?" Luna was clearly bewildered by the announcement.

"Do not ask me why. Ask yourself why!" His face was contorted with rage.

"But that is beyond my control, alpha. I can't do anything about it. If I could do something for me to be able to bear a son for you, I will do it. I will do everything for you." Luna was helpless. Her body dropped onto the floor and cried.

"Yes, it was not your fault that you are the weakest among the pack. It is also definitely not your fault for being infertile. It's because it is my fault. I am at fault for marrying someone like you! I regretted that decision and if I could turn back time, I would never try to mate with you even if you will be the only female wolf left in our pack!" The alpha angrily screamed at her while giving a hostile glare.

Luna's eyes were blackened for a while. Following this, is her wolf in her heart howling bitterly. She was dumbfounded with the confession that his husband had. It is completely unbelievable to her that Amanda, someone whom she treated as her best friend ever since they were little, colluded with her husband to betray her.

"This… this is unbelievable! This must be a joke. You can't tell me that it is really happening. You are just testing me, right? Tell me it isn't true. Tell me that you are just lying." She begged her husband to take back what he said but unfortunately, it was the truth.

"I do not have to lie to you, Luna. Everything that I have told you was all true. I just want you to hear the news straight from me. I want to marry her as soon as possible. I will be marrying her before my son is born." He confronted her.

"No! No! You're lying! You are clearly lying! That's not true." Luna was still enraged with the news but she has no other choice but to slowly accept it even though she is still in denial with it.

"If you are afraid that you will lose your position as a Luna, don't worry I will not do that yet. As suggested by your good friend, you will remain as the pack's Luna and will still be able to hurdle the responsibilities of the pack." Her husband assured her position but that is not Luna's concern. She did not care about the position, status, or wealth that she had. She only cares about what matters the most for her, and that is her husband. But unluckily, she was not treasured by him like what she's doing to him.

Luna did not reply. She just kept on sobbing while sitting on the floor. She is still unwilling to accept the truth even if it is hardly slapped into her by her husband.

"By the way, in exchange for not taking away your position as Luna, I will give Amanda a proper identity to the pack. After all, she is carrying my son which you are supposed to be doing as my wife. I will let everybody know at the meeting the day after tomorrow." He said which caused Luna to jolt.

"What? Why so soon? Can’t you do that next month? You can't expect me to just process all of that in just a short period of time." She protested but to no avail, her husband remained to eagerly do it.

"And that is your problem, not mine. You handle it yourself." He was so apathetic with what his wife felt and just disregarded it completely.

"But…" Luna was supposed to reply when her husband cut her response.

"No but's and no if's. Let me warn you, if you still love your position and your life, stop being delusional! If you dare to hurt Amanda or even lay a finger on her, you will surely regret it. Because if you do, I am certain that I will make your life a living hell." He said while cupping Luna's face with his hand aggressively.

The alpha then leaves the house by slamming their front door. Meanwhile the feeble and powerless Luna was left on the floor lamenting her husband's betrayal.
