Chapter 53

I returned home, shuffling into the living room. Ginevra was pacing up and down, holding her phone. She stopped abruptly and hurried to me.

“Are you fine?” she asked, holding me. I nodded and sighed. “Did you see him? Did you recognize him?” Ginevra queried.

“No, we lost him,” I said and sighed, collapsing onto the couch. Ginevra sat with me.

“How come?”

Well, we waited patiently for him at the restaurant where he stopped. He didn’t come out till we fell asleep,” I explained.

“Oh, that means you didn’t even get to talk to him at all, right?”

“Exactly.”

“Hey, you are back. How did it go?” Emiliano queried, handing a cup of tea to Ginevra.

“We lost him,” I said simply and stood up. “We will try our luck next time. Getting to know his place is my priority right now,” I declared and started walking away. Emiliano held my wrist and I turned abruptly to face him.

“I will help you…no matter what,” he assured. I nodded and headed upstairs. Ginevra stood up and moved close to Emiliano
