"This isn't the first time you've bled like this." Herzl said quietly, his voice a laced with concern. "You have always taken longer to heal than others, even before you were bitten. Remember that time you scraped your knee as a child and it took weeks to heal?"
Rebecca frowned, her eyes flickering towards him. "I...I remember." She said, her voice small. "But I thought that was just because I was human."
Rebecca’s response was barely out before a sudden sensation, like a mental “ping”, vibrated across Kenziel’s mind, interrupting his attention. For a split second, his focus wavered, but he quickly refocused on the scene before him.
Herzl’s eyes darted between Kenziel and Rebecca, sensing the shift in Kenziel’s concentration. "Alpha...?" Herzl asked, concerned.
"Something’s wrong." Kenziel growled, his wolf instincts heightening his senses. "Alexander's calling, but I can't leave Rebecca like this."
Herzl’s eyes widened, understanding the urgency of the situation. "Alpha, I can take it from here." He said, his hands still tending to Rebecca’s wound. "She’s in good hands. You should go and find out what’s happening."
Kenziel’s gaze remained fixed on Rebecca for a moment longer, the struggle between duty and mate playing out on his face. Finally, he nodded, his decision made. "Watch over her..." He said to Herzl, his voice low and commanding.
Herzl nodded curtly and mouthed his reply. "Of course..."
Kenziel stared decisively at Rebecca for a few seconds before exiting Herzl's office, but the next moment, he walked in again hastily.
"What is it?" Herzl asked, while Rebecca's brows was raised slightly in questioning. "Did you forget something?"
"Yes..." Kenziel replied hastily, though plain and simple. "I forget Rebecca, I shouldn't leave her behind — I don't know how long it'll take with Alexander."
"I'm done with her, she can go with you if you want." Herzl told him, helping Rebecca up even when it's obvious that she can help herself. "She'll need to..."
Kenziel cut him off abruptly. "You should drop by tonight if there's more to say." He countered, and without waiting for his reply, he turned to Rebecca. "Let's go..."
"What's happened, Xands...?" Kenziel asked, wearing a bored expression as he scratched his nose bridge lightly. "What's the emergency?"
Alexander’s brow furrowed, his eyes narrowing slightly at Kenziel’s dismissive attitude. "We have a rogue werewolf on our territory." He said, his voice grave. "My patrols found a trail of bodies near the south border — two dead deer and a human. They’re both fresh kills."
Kenziel’s bored expression vanished, replaced by a predatory glint. "You’re certain it’s a rogue?" he asked, his posture stiffening.
Alexander nodded. "Yes, but the patrols lost trail of him." He countered, his voice hesitant. "I heard the Crescent Moon Pack banished a wolf a few days ago, it's him. I'm certain he's around the border — hiding, it's only a matter of the time till he's fished out."
Kenziel’s expression remained stony as he considered the situation. "We need to find that rogue before he causes any more damage, especially to any of my subjects." He said, his tone clipped and decisive. "Set up a perimeter around the border, with extra patrols. I want that rogue found within few hours."
Alexander nodded, but Kenziel could sense the unspoken concern in his Beta’s eyes. "And what about the human?" He asked cautiously. "We can’t risk a human discovering our existence."
Kenziel turned his gaze towards the floor, the weight of his responsibility as Alpha heavy upon his shoulders. He knew they had to act quickly, but any wrong move could put his pack at risk.
"We dispose of the body..." He said, his voice barely above a whisper. "We’ll take the human deep into the forest and cover our tracks. The less evidence left behind, the better."
Alexander’s expression was grim, but he nodded in agreement. "I’ll make the arrangements." Alexander responded, his voice resolute. "I’ll have the patrol unit meet us there, and we’ll handle the situation."
Kenziel’s jaw tightened. "Good..." He turned to leave, but hesitated, his eyes drifting to the floor again. "— and Alexander..." He began.
Alexander’s head snapped up, sensing the gravity in Kenziel’s voice. Kenziel gaze shifting towards Rebecca. "Rebecca is here. She needs to remain safe, especially with that rogue lurking about."
Alexander’s eyes widened slightly as he finally registered Rebecca’s presence. "Rebecca, I'm sorry, my mind is occupied, I didn't realized your presence."
Rebecca reciprocated his smile. "You've always put everything else first before me, I guess I should have gotten use to it by now." She said.
"No, Becca. This is crucial than you think, it's about the pack's affairs. There's a rogue on berserk." Alexander said, a hint of worry seeping into his voice. "Kenziel’s right. You need to be protected."
Rebecca smiled bravely, though her voice quivered slightly. "Don’t worry, big brother." Rebecca said with a forced lightness in her tone. "I can take care of myself. I’m a werewolf now, remember?" She flexed her uninjured arm, attempting to lighten the tension in the room.
Alexander’s lips twitched, almost forming a smile, but his expression quickly hardened again. "I know you’re strong, Rebecca." He said, his voice unwavering. "But this rogue is dangerous, and he’s yet to be tracked."
Kenziel stepped forward, a silent warning in his gaze. "And that’s why she’ll be staying with me." He said, his voice tolerating no argument. "We’ll find this rogue, but until then, Rebecca stays by my side."
Alexander nodded, but his expression remained serious. "I understand, Alpha..."
Kenziel inclined his head. "Then go. And remember, be careful. We don’t know what this rogue is capable of."
With a final nod, Alexander departed to make arrangements with the patrol unit, leaving Kenziel and Rebecca alone in the office. The tension that had filled the space just moments before had dissipated, but a new, quieter tension seemed to take its place.
Kenziel turned to face Rebecca, his expression softening slightly. "Are you sure you’re all right?' he asked, his voice gentle. "You still look pale."
"I'm fine, just that my shoulder feels sore and heavy." She uttered, her voice small. "I think I need to rest for a while, if you'll excuse me."
Kenziel look at her for a while, contemplating, but shrugged his shoulders lightly. "Fine..." He said simply and watched her leave his presence — even though he couldn't shake off the feeling that something feels off about her...
029 While the Dark Knight Pack prepared for the traditional ceremony, another pack prepared for blood.Klaus stood alone on the balcony of his estate. The moon was low in the sky, shinning a pale light on the sharp edges of buildings and weapons.Below his gaze, the enemy's territory was sleeping, unaware of the danger that's lurking. They trusted their borders to keep them safe, but the man watching knew he could get in easily. To him, timing was everything — not kindness or mercy."The Marking Ceremony..." The words settled on his tongue like it was a promise, it was almost poetic. For generations, the Dark Knight Pack had treated the ceremony as sacred — an evening when there'll be less vigilance, when warriors lowered their guard in honor to tradition. Patrols will be thinned, and their attention will be divided between ritual and celebration."Now, this is what I call a beautiful flaw…" Klaus muttered slighhtly under his breath as his lips curved faintly. He had known of the cer
028 ||Few Days Later||Rebecca could walk again. The dizziness wasn't as often as it was the that night, the pounding in her head was no longer sharp enough to steal her breath.Rebecca felt like everyone was staring at her wherever she went. Some people were just curious, some pretended to feel sorry for her, and others were secretly judging her. So she learned to be careful — she kept her head down, walked calmly, and only spoke only when she's expected. She'd figured out a long time ago that staying quiet was the best way to protect herself. Her life has been risked so many times, she doesn't know who wants dead or not. When Kenziel summoned the pack to the main hall out of the blues, no one was surprised. The hall filled quickly, boots echoing against stone as the pack's members walked in. Torches burned high along the walls, their flames were steady, lighting up banners that bore the pack’s crest — it was an ancient symbols of loyalty, strength, and blood-bound history.Rebecca
027 Slowly, she was regaining consciousness, as the darkness she was enveloped in was starting to fade.Rebecca surfaced in fragments — little by little, she was regaining her memory as she woke. A low hum filled her ears and the air smelled sharp and clean, stinging her nose with antiseptic so strong it made her throat tighten. And amidst all these, pain followed — even though it wasn't that sharp and immediate type. She felt a dull, relentless ache at the back of her skull, pulsing at the same time with her heartbeat. It felt as though her head were wrapped too tightly as she felt pressure pressing inward from every side. She tried to move but the effort sent a wave of nausea crashing through her, forcing a small, broken sound from her lips."Oh, Rebecca...!" The voice cut through the haze, sounding really loud and trembling.Rebecca's eyes lashes fluttered open and her gaze met with the dim lights overhead, pale walls, unfamiliar shadows that seems to stretchEd across the ceiling.
026 The party was already getting wilder as people laughed loudly. Some were telling jokes to another, while some just smiled at nothing in particular.Crystal glasses clinked endlessly as servants moved with trays that were refilled too often, and the music that was once elegant was now carrying a restless energy.Rebecca stood near the staircase landing holding a glass with her. She hadn’t had a taste of the wine, well, she did not need to.The memories were enough to make her dizzy. Aside that, being in a crowdy place always did this to her due to the too many voices, too many bodies, and even the too many ways that things could go wrong. The past had taught her that danger rarely announced itself, instead, it smiled and blend in after waiting patiently for the perfect time."Rebecca..." That soft pleasant voice she couldn't miss called in a calmed tone.Rebecca turned slowly, that moment she feLt her shoulders stiffened as she saw Brenda approaching. The woman wore a gentle smile
025 Rebecca wasn't listening as the three men, with Alexander included, talked and laughed. Sometimes, so as not to raise suspicion, she will flash KenziEl a smile absentmindedly, but that doesn't stop the swirling in her heart.‘This isn't how it happened before. What changed…?’ She couldn't help but keep asking herself as she stares at Carson. He looks calms and relaxed, like everything that's happening now was supposed to — as if nothing really changed. In her best memory, Carson's arrival now was definitely different from her first life. Is this a good sign or an ominous one? What does this really point at? Will she be able to stop her death, or will it come earlier than it was supposed to?"Rebecca had prepared everything ahead…" Hearing her name was enough to snap her out of her train of thought. It was Kenziel, he turned to her with a soft appreciative smile. "She had insisted on doing everything herself beforehand, and good thing I let her."Rebecca smiled with a silent nod,
024 "Carson…?!" Kenziel blurted out, his face was the perfect mixture of surprise and confusion. "Tell me it's not you.""If you believed I'm not, what can I say then?" Carson said sarcastically, shrugging his shoulders."Man, how many years it is already?" Kenziel said with a small laugh. "You didn't even changed a bit, it's as though you're aging backward.""I could say the same too." Carson replied, reciprocating Kenziel's energy. "I'm sorry I couldn't make it to your mate bond ceremony.""You're here now…" Kenziel pointed out. "That's all matters, even though I'm a little bit surprised you're here. What happened?"Carson smiled and patted Kenziel's left shoulder. "Let's talk when we're setted, man." He told the latter, his smile fading a little.Kenziel had wanted to say something but Alexander beat him to it by clearing his throat light. "Alpha…" Alexander called out and Kenziel understood better."Uh, Carson..." Kenziel started, gesturing to AleXander and then to Herzl who has
